Dont say you haven't been warned

It says above the door 'pay for 2 days get 5 days.'
I wanted a Hyundai i20 for 5 days, the guy behind the desk said 50 euros deposit in cash today & pay the remaining 90 euros by card tomorrow when you collect, so total 140 euros.
So i paid the cash thinking 140 wasn't bad for 5 days.
However, when i collected the car here comes the sneaky, devious, conman part that they never tell you at first & why they ask for a cash deposit.
"It's 1800 euros liability if there is any damage to the car sir that we need to load onto your credit card, however we advise you to take out our insurance at 20 euros a day for full cover in case of any damage if the car is parked etc."
When i asked the girl i was collecting from why wasn't this mentioned when originally booking (it's a different office to the one you collect the car from), she just rolls her eyes & says "he must have forgotten to tell you."
If you want to cancel though, be warned they keep your cash deposit (apparently it's in the small print that nobody reads) so you're committed to staying with them.
And dont think for a minute you're getting the car on the forecourt or in the brochure, hell no, i got an i20 that looked like it had just done the Dakar rally, it was almost as old as me & had 147,000 on the clock, no bluetooth, airvents that you couldn't move, & had about as much power as a junior aspirin.
Be advised there are far more transparent & honest car hire companies in Stalis, avoid this one like the plague.

Would not recommend. Spoke to a member of staff regarding renting a car for a day. We was giving multiple options and when set on a car we were given a price which would include full insurance cover etc. we paid a €20 deposit and had a receipt given to us which included the price given to us along with the information of full insurance.
The day comes and we go to pick up the car to be told that the price we was given was not correct. They then wanted us to pay an extra €90 if we wanted full cover as the price we was given was for the lowest cover. We explained to the lady that we was given this price for full coverage. We gave her the receipt that showed exactly what we was told and she contacted a manager. We asked for a refund of our deposit which she said she was unable to do as it’s non refundable. We explained that we are not cancelling due to no longer wanting but because we were mis sold information by her colleague and we were very unhappy with the whole situation. We said we completely understand it isn’t her fault but we aren’t happy that we have been told one thing to be told that it is not possible. She called her manager again and then told us we could then pay €70 instead of €90 to which we said we still wasn’t happy as it was still more than what we was told. The lady then told us if we pay €70 they would put fuel in the car and we would not have to replace it. We then agreed and paid the €70. She informed us that someone would drop the car off outside our hotel in 10-15 minutes. We made our way back to the hotel to which the gentleman brought the car with no fuel in. We explained what we had been told and he said he had not been informed and would have to go back and speak to her. We went back and explained and she made a phone call and said he would be back to collect the car. The rest of my family got in the car whilst I was sorting this situation and the car was extremely dirty inside. The gentleman then came back to the car and handed us money, we asked if the money was for the cost of the fuel and if we had to do it ourselves which we would’ve been happy to do. He then said that there was a problem with the car and that is our money back. We were extremely confused and then left without a car. We had pre booked tickets for a day out and planned the day ahead for our toddler to do some activities.
We were very lucky that we had another car hire company by our hotel who was very helpful and got a car sorted for us straight away

Would not recommend at all unfortunately, gentleman that offered 4 adults and a baby chair car a Volkswagen caddy,

We previously looked at the car rental place next to Stalis hotel which quoted €85 which was a fair price including full insurance with no excess if there was an accident, but whilst walking down the strip gentleman offered us caravel €70 for exactly the same option we thought fantastic cheaper price save for fuel paid €20 deposit and pay the €50 on the day.

On the day of renting the car went to the office to fill out forms etc and the least inside who was lovely at first broke everything down but then mentioned that if bump had to pay €1500 excess which was a surprise to us as the gentleman that sold us the rental package reassured us that we would not have to pay a excess fee
Explained this to lady at reception and showed her the receipt but refused to give us the price and wanted to charge more and pay an extra €90, we refused to pay this as we had a receipt of the package that was offered and asked for refund due to mis selling customers packages, refused to give us our deposit back we was exchanging back and forth that it’s unfair as we are not the ones who are at fault and only want to cancel because we was told mis information which the lady agreed and apologised
We eventually ended up paying €70 more as the lady agreed to put petrol in car and we did not have to fill back up at end of rental day, but most importantly we had tickets for the aquarium which was 30 minutes away,
when car arrives there was no fuel in the car explained to gentleman that dropped it off that there should be fuel and he did not speak English and just walked off went back to office to ask why there was no fuel, she explained that she will call them back and fill up sat outside hotel then guy turns up give me €90 and said car not working and drove off

Disappointed in the service of company terrible attitude from all staff, would not recommend to anyone in future

Nadat we hele slechte ervaring hadden bij Carjet.com Heraklion ( auto gehuurd maar door miscommunicatie creditkaart kregen we de auto niet mee en geld kwijt) konden we nog een auto huren bij Caravel. Deze auto was ( logisch) duurder dan de andere maar er zat alles op en aan. De man liet ons zien hoeveel benzine er nog in zat ( halfvol) dus zo moesten wij hem ook weer inleveren. We hebben 15 heerlijke dagen gehad en zonder problemen de auto weer ingeleverd.

Unfortunately, I was not happy with this company. When I have booked this car I was expecting to get a Hyundai i10 autimatic, that's what I thought I have booked, I have payed more to get this instead of a cheaper automatic car. Well, huge surprise when we got an old rusty 2008 Opel instead, with visible scrapes and bent in a few places, it was not only rusted on the outside, inside the car looked liked like its been kept in the water and the build up was huge. When we asked why is the change, they said ,,or similar'' and shut the door. We were left speechless and had to leave as it was 3 am. On our way we started hearing noises, as a non driver I was very concerned and felt quite unsafe, and the driver and 2 other people with driving licenses they said it is not normal. We stayed around the town without using the car but we went back to the airport to change it, instead we got an old Hyundai manual because it was the only other option they had as for the automatic car they wanted us to pay €300 extra. We have taken what there was but it is not a trustworthy company! I do not recommend it!

Toller Service!!! Wir hatten ein Problem mit einer anderen Autovermietung. Bei Caravel am Flughafen Chania haben wir spontan abends ein Auto mieten können. Die Dame war super freundlich und konnte sofort helfen. Die Abgabe verlief völlig reibungslos.

Mi hanno dato una panda non vecchia ma malconcia, purtroppo avevo fretta e l'ho accettata, dopo 2 giorni non si accende, anche se il quadro era molto ben evidente, ho chiamato e dopo varie insistenze, non mi hanno cambiato l'auto ma la batteria il mattino seguente e tra l'altro mi ha anche mandato aff....
Faccio presente che il problema non era la batteria ma mi ha zittito con tono alto affermando che il motivo era la batteria.
Morale la sera rimango a piedi al ristorante, per fortuna ha chiamato il ristoratore, e mi sono venuti a prendere, il mattino seguente mi hanno sostituito l'auto con un'altra panda leggermente meglio.
Ho perso molto tempo e pazienza.
Mai successo in 30 anni di noleggi.
Il peggiore noleggiatore di sempre.

No stress car renting experience

Friednly staff, afforable prices and clean car, is what we got when we arrived at the Caravel booth at Heraklion airport. The car return was even smoother, just dropped off the keys at Chania booth where a friednly lady wished us safe travels and off we were. When we return to Crete, we most likely will be using Caravel again.

Helped us getting a rental car after the originally book agency hast closed the office on chania airport.
The requested invoice was sent to US very quiqly.

Easy to use, and everything went as expected. No extra costs. Trunk did not open, but it wasn't an issue for us. Staff was helpful and friendly.
