Consumer Reports is an independent, nonprofit member organization that works for truth, transparency, and fairness in the marketplace. Consumers Union was chartered on February 6, 1936, at a time when consumers had very few options to gauge the value, quality, or authenticity of goods and services. It was an era of unfettered advertising claims, rapid technological progress, and patchwork regulations. Since then, CR has remained true to its mission, testing and reviewing countless products to make sure they’re safe and worth your money. Through our advocacy, we’ve helped people save billions. And we’ve influenced some of the most critical issues of the marketplace: the dangers of smoking cigarettes and eating toxic foods, predatory practices of credit card companies, safety risks in cars, and more.

It's not the company it used to be!
Whatever you do do not give them your CC info. They kept charging me even though I told them I only need a ONE Year SUBSCRIPTION! and even when I confronted them and showed them my e mail and they agreed to a full refund they still didn't reversed the CC charges. They must be desperate and short of money. I spend so much time trying for them to reverse the charges finally I had to involve my cc Company involved. This kind of behavior is unbecoming of any legitimate company let alone a company that pretends to be in consumer advocacy field!
Oh boy, the old "LAST CHANCE" con game
Oh boy, another one of those "Last chance, FINAL INVOICE" CR scams to renew my current subscription for $26, sheesh! I still have almost a year left per the date on my magazine shipping label and have been getting these for months. "Immediate payment REQUIRED NOW" they say. Here it is August 9, 2021. The notice has a tiny script that reads "EXP MAY 22" at the top. Can you say FRAUD? I knew you could, Dawn Nelson, Senior Director.
CR no longer represents honest businesses and don't conduct non-partisan "reviews" as in years past. The product reviews aren't accurate or correct in many instances and that includes the vehicles. I won't be renewing.
I had used Consumer Reports for years…
I had used Consumer Reports for years and then abandoned them after two expensive items I bot which they recommended which turned into poor and very poor purchases. I have recently, again employed them in evaluating various items - but now follow them with much caution.
They recommended the Honda HRX217K5VKAA Lawnmower at a cost of $630.35. It is an adequate mower except for several major flaws.
It is very difficult to adjust the cutting height of the rear wheels and it is too heavy. One must use a pry-bar to raise or lower the rear wheels. Front wheels are easily adjustable as any other lawn mower. Also, as the mower is used the force required to pull the mower backwards is exhausting (requiring 30 to 50 pounds of force and is no way solvable without a major overhaul). The mower is heavier than average but powerful and self-propelling. It is not suited for the average female because of the forces needed to operate. At best it is tiring for the average man to mow a quarter acre unless the lawn is flat and without shrubs and other impediments.
The second, and more costly item Consumer Reports recommended is the LGWT1001CW washing machine.
Its poor cleaning abilities and overall damage expense that can be caused by the machine's operation resulted in LG withdrawing this model from its LG washing machine line after the first year of introduction on the market (with no damage compensation or returns to the consumer) . It was carelessly evaluated by Consumer Reports as superior but as far as I, an electrical engineer with 25 years of clothes washing experience see it, there are two major and costly flaws.
1. Adding bleach, as directed is obviously damaging the washed clothing. It stripped the color from expensive shirts, pants, towels and other costly and old, favorite and valued articles. The remedy is to dilute the bleach before adding as LG directed.
2. In addition, in spite of the excess and wrongly applied bleach - the whites came out dingy. After many disasters, I finally developed the correct procedures and operation of the machine. I finally can get an acceptable, undamaged wash-load from this poorly engineered device. But this “LG” machine is definitely an expensive lemon - foisted on me and the public which Consumer Reports should have caught if not for their repetitive “assembly line” evaluating procedures. They didn’t deliver the service I paid them for but they are the only and best evaluators out there!
Horrid Customer Service-Fry-Wagner Moving Co.
My name is Sue Wallace We had Fry-Wagner move us from St Louis to Farmington, MO on June 4-5. The driver of the van that loaded our stuff hit a telephone pole about 2 miles from our house, completely mashing in the right side of the truck and damaging many pieces of our furniture; over 28, and also we are actually missing items such as part of my husband's weight set and his power supplies for his movie theater seats, among other things. They offered us a very, very small compensation for the damage (going with their standard .60 on the pound, when there was a van accident, with their driver being negligible, not a mover scratching your curio cabinet). We have six pieces to our bedroom set; five of them are damaged. There is a lamp that is completely shattered. A speaker not only has the black covering on the front all ripped, but also mashed in the speaker front behind the covering. Scratches and gouges on my mother's 65 year old piano, as well as the piano bench. I have written to and left a voice mail for, the President of the company with absolutely no response, not even, 'we are sorry about your damage'. His name is Larry Fry, the company is Fry-Wagner, and the Corporate office is in Lenexa, KS/ Kansas City area. Please, if you value your property and expect a company to compensate you fairly when significant damage occurs and treat you like a valued customer, do NOT use Fry-Wagner for future moving needs. Quite a disgrace from a company that won a Fleet Excellence award for their driving skills a couple years ago and a Customer Service award this year, I believe. Very disappointed in this company. I have many photos of the significant damage the driver of the van did to our property in a one vehicle accident where he hit a telephone pole in broad daylight.
Confirmed by court
Confirmed by court: consumer reports is misleading! As video footage from court case against CR showed, CR intentionally changed test course to manipulate results and make the car finally fail the new test to support their agenda while it performed well on the actual test course. Despite court case CR continues their political agenda. Today GM again is involved with CR and now they are attacking Teslas far superior autopilot system.
Shameful company
One-sided Ford and GM ad machine. Going against Tesla just, because Ford and GM are paying them to do so.
Check video:
"We Drove a Tesla with No One in the Driver's Seat. That's Not a Good Thing. | Consumer Reports"
Payed lackeys
Misleading organization literally payed by Ford and other dubious companies. There is no consumer anything about CR.
Totally bias, used by Ford to bully Tesla
Consumer reports drivers more funding from the Ford Foundation than from any other source.
Literally the same guy, Henry Ford III, sits on the bord of directors of the Ford Motor Company and the Ford Foundation.
The issue is that they are fighting the competition, in this case Tesla autonomy, not with a better and more affordable product, but with an article explaining how to illegally hack the Tesla system. This other that be just illegal will also push other people to break the law putting lifes in dangerous situation.
The article was complaining how much was it "easy" for them to hack Tesla securities, in fact they "only" had to:
buckle the driver’s seatbelt without a person sitting in the seat. The driver, who was not actively belted in, then engaged Autopilot and reduced the system’s speed to zero. When the vehicle stopped, a premade weighted defeat device was placed on the Tesla’s steering wheel to simulate pressure from the driver’s hand. The driver then went over to the passenger seat and increased Autopilot’s speed, which enabled the vehicle to start moving again. Consumer Reports also made it a point to point out that the driver in its test did not open the vehicle’s doors, as that would disengage Autopilot.
I strongly disagree with your bias…
I strongly disagree with your bias report on Tesla. Shame on you!
Bluegrass Cellular Burkesville
My phone was not ringing for all incoming calls or text messages, and I was not getting my notifications on missed calls. I took my phone into the store here in Burkesville. There were two young girls working who did not seem to have had any training. They called tech support, who checked out my phone, did a factory reset, and decided the phone had a manufacturing defect. So I asked for a replacement phone, and was told I would have to drive all the way to Columbia, even though they had phones in the store they could have given me. I asked to speak with a manager. They called the manager, who was extremely rude, and also insisted I would have to drive to Columbia.
I got so frustrated I left the store. When I got home, my phone was actually working. Apparently, when tech support did the factory reset it actually managed to fix the problem, but the tech was too incompetent to realize it.
We'll see how long the fix lasts.
Don't go the Bluegrass Cellular in Burkesville. Worst phone service and customer service EVER.
Consumer Reports - cancelling membership a nightmare!
Shame on you Consumer Reports, I am in the Uk and your reports are not relevant here. Trying to cancel membership is a nightmare. Every link just takes me around again, not to the spot where I can actually cancel. I tried Chat and telephone all without success, as I was left holding on without actual contacting anyone. Calling from the UK EXPENSIVE!!!

I've paid for the annual subscription
I've paid for the annual subscription, but it requires further subscription to get anything like insurance comparison, auto. it's completely useless.
Do not trust any of their reviews
This whole organisation is a scam. Check out the story of how they rigged a Suzuki Samurai test just to get a perfectly good car off the market in the 1990s.
Their sole purpose is to get you to buy products from companies (some of them very shady) that are sponsoring them.
It is in everybody's best interest that they dissappear ASAP
I am shocked.After spending a long time…
I am shocked. After spending a long time online looking for MP3 players I again received from "Consumer Reports" an advert email and decided to join,as promised they do online checking. This scam is not even barely concealed. After typing in "MP3 Players" i got 2 examples only of the many hundreds out there, no review, less than my online searches came up with. I paid $25 TODAY for the 1 year subscription and just now,the same day they refuse me a refund. The online chat was unkind, cruel, short tempered and basically laughed in my face. I guess I deserve it for being stupid and not having checked "TrustPilot" first before committing. Do not go near this scam.

Califemory.com is a fraud. Site should be shut down. Fake shipping confirmation and item never received.
The Irony - Worst Customer Service Ever
My family has been a member for since 1950. I have just spent 1 hour 20 minutes trying to correct a membership problem. I have not dealt with a company of government agency with worse customer service. They should be put out of business or worse. I hate them. In the age of online reviews, who needs them, anyway?
Faulty Cervical Spine Fusion Hardware from Nexxt Spine
In May 2018, I had a spinal fusion surgery performed in my cervical spine. The hardware (screws & plate) that was used was manufactured by Nexxt Spine. Images taken during my first follow-up post-surgery showed everything was correct and no problems were present. Likewise, all discomfort was gone and most numbing/tingling was gone as well.
Some problems and discomfort began to arise over the past year or so and I therefore decided to see a neurosurgeon recently in order to request an MRI, CT and x-ray. All images and accompanying reports have revealed two major problems. First, BOTH titanium screws in my C6 vertebrae are broken in half inside the bone. Second, the safety mechanism designed to prevent the screws from backing out has failed, resulting in the screw protruding outward by 4 to 5 millimeters.
If this were just one failure it could maybe be chalked up to a fluke, but there are three failures occurring here simultaneously, and I am consequently faced with a very bad situation and risky decisions involving the cervical spine, not to mention the stress and discomfort.
If you have an upcoming surgery involving spinal implants, I would consider speaking with your surgeon regarding the brand and type of implants he or she will be using. If they tell you it's Nexxt Spine, well...you now know my story, the choice is yours. I promise you this, however, if it is Nexxt Spine and you choose not to say anything, and then should happen to find yourself in a situation similar to mine afterward, you’ll probably hate yourself.
Do not use
Do not use, they are still promoting Mobileklean which is part of Strong Current Enterprises. I ordered 3 light sanitisers on 15 th March from MobilKlean and despite emails sent I have heard nothing. Now found that both companies have horrendous reviews so how on earth can Consumer Reports support them. I believe that Consumer Reports is nothing more than an advertising platform. Wouldn’t trust a word they say.
Purchased car reviews book
Purchased one about cars. For 2020. First they provide now data only for 3 years. First 3 years every car is ok at least. For Toyota rav4 they predicted reliability as average even though everything was perfectly fine for past 3 years and we all know it is perfect for past 20 years. For some other makes like chevrolet and Hyundai they giving perfect predictions. Total bogus. Use own brain and comon sense.
