Not happy with online order and…supplied
Not happy with online order and delivery service.
I made a complaint back in November through 2 different avenues I have never heard again from countdown.
I placed an online order and got it delivered around $60 of groceries was short supplied. I got my husband to go in after work and he got all the short supplied goods. I also had a bonus points offer where if I spent so much in one transaction I go an extra 500 points from memory.... because so much was short supplied I didn't qualify which I don't think is fair if it was their staff pulling the goods not knowing what to look.
This is not the first time I have been short supplied goods and the goods have been there on the shelf.
Countdown Cambridge, fantastic service!
Shout out to the consistently great service I receive, particularly from the Deli department (Kim, Rochelle and Sean) and Sonia in the Self Checkouts.
I am in several times a week (the chicken sandwiches are outstanding) and always have a pleasant, helpful experience.
Michelle is also a stand out.
Appreciate the effort made all day, every day :)
Why does countdown Taupo have a manager…
Why does countdown Taupo have a manager who has been caught shoplifting twice in store is rude to customers gets aggressive to children accusing THEM of shoplifting when witnesses and other staff have backed the children in question because they clearly didn’t shoplift
This thief is still working there and all the staff and higher managers are told to keep it quite as they have know one to full her position
Disgusting
Beware the trolley man at Pukekohe…
Beware the trolley man at Pukekohe South Countdown. He is rude and aggressive and very possibly violent. I won’t be shopping here again. The supermarket is very poorly stocked and the staff are not very helpful or friendly.
Countdown Greymouth is shocking
Countdown Greymouth is shocking. You have to wait in long lines at the checkout cause they only have a couple of checkouts open then when it's my turn to be surved the checkout out operator walks away. Very bad survice at Greymouth Countdown.
Hardly anything on the shelves
Hardly anything on the shelves? Items I’ve been buying for years aren’t stocked.
Ordered groceries online
Ordered groceries online and what I thought would be a nice cream sponge but what a pathetic excuse for a sponge arrived it is about the size of a tea plate and the thickness of a 500g tub of margarine as for the cream filling it looked like they had to scrape the bottom of the bowl and hope no one would notice the lack of filling I would of been better of going and buying a bottle of cream and making a couple of pancakes and filling them and they had the balls to charge $6.20 for this joke of a so called sponge I have bought bigger muffins for less as for the taste it was dry and stale I ended up throwing it ou to the birds
Retail crime works both ways
I ordered $264 of my favourite cider with my last online order at Countdown, and marked it as no substitutes because I'm very particular about my favourite cider. My total order came to $514.56 and the money was removed from my account immediately after submitting my order. Unfortunately zero bottles of cider were supplied with my order, and after contacting their 0800 number I find that I have to wait 7 to 10 business days for a refund, leaving me with no money to buy the same product elsewhere... and that's if I even get a refund, as there is no email to indicate that any refund process has commenced, and the invoice they sent is less than half of the total transaction... I guess I should've stuck with New World who only charge for items actually supplied on the day

I'm absolutely disgusted in your service Countdown! My email complaint below after waiting at store for an hour, calling online service, then getting disconnected from chat after an hour!!! We are left $140 out of pocket on an off pay week and have to wait 7 days to get our money back as you were out of stock and took the money anyway!!!! This is another reason we stopped shopping here!!!!!!

Hi there
I would like to formally complain and escalate my refund please.
I arrived at Rotorua Countdown yesterday to find the 10kg ham was out of stock. This was frustrating as I was able to order online and it is for a work function this morning so had little time to organise something else.
The worker suggested I go in store, this wasn't possible as my 4 year old twins were asleep in the car. He then said they have a ham out the back they could try and substitute so we waited an hour to then be told they couldn't do it and our $140.00 will be refunded in 7 days.
We have then had to use our savings as mentioned this was for a work function, go elsewhere and buy another ham. We are now left short for a birthday we were attending this weekend because you have taken the funds from our account and also couldn't provide a ham either.
I rang customer service last night, she said she would put through urgently, and asked why the store couldn't have tried one of the other countdowns in Rotorua to supply one.
I contacted your chat service this morning and Lily then disconnected the chat while saying she was reviewing my complaint for me but also said it would take 7 days.
I'm absolutely appalled how much hassle this has been and the time I've taken trying to get our money back which we need this weekend!

Discrimination at Countdown, Takanini
I come to Countdown to buy groceries on a regular basis, fortnightly for the main shopping and weekly for top-ups......however, there isbone thing I am totally against is the discrimination that goes on there. It happens every time I buy groceries and it's evident when going to the front that is where the discrimination starts. The staff are majority of Indians working there....these people express and show signs of hatred and it's disgusting to see. That you would allow people of this nature to work there, pick and choose who they prefer to serve.
I had a problem with something I bought…
I had a problem with something I bought while I was grocery shopping. I took it back into the store and although I didn’t have my receipt I would’ve had to go all the way home and back to the shop, it was already an inconvenience haven to go back to the shop.
I’m glad countdown sorted the issue, I was really on my last bit of money and they don’t realise how close I was to all this being to much. I struggle every week to pay for my groceries so I think countdown did the right thing trying to solve my issue .
Laundry basket
I brought a plastic grey Laundry basket and the handle broke within a couple of months. Not good at all.
Liars
Liars. They claim to be open till 10pm, yet have some a%#^*+£ security guard refusing to let you in after 9,45pm. If you mean you close at 9.45pm then say that you lying p$&@ks, so no one wastes their time coming here only to find you lied about your hours
I have been a local to northcote…for 36 years
I have been a local to northcote countdown since 1987, lately the service is at best depressing, bare minimum staff, no self service, the staff I have known for over a decade are miserable zero personality, it has absolutely driven me to go to pack n save on a weekly basis, and countdown I use for the odd needed item for dinner, not a great experience anymore and the prices are at very least 40% more than pack n save. Honestly there are people out there who need a job and I'm sure would be alot more suited than the depressed staff that are currently employed
Countdowns prices have increased…
Countdowns prices have increased steadily overall during the past few months. Looks to be a ploy in an effort to recover the 3 to 400 million bucks for a Woolworths rebranding exercise!
We have decided not to shop there again!
I had an interesting conversation with…
I had an interesting conversation with both the checkout person and the supervisor at countdown ponsonby today. The belt was really grubby with food and washing powder and I asked if it could be wiped down. The answer...we are far too busy and my supervisor will tell me off if I wasted time doing that. The supervisor wasn't interested when I tried to speak to him and also said they were far too busy. I then looked around and saw the whole counter area wads dusty and unclean and the last couple of times I have been there a lot of the shelves are half empty. It is not well cared for and not sure that changing the name is going to make any difference. Buck your ideas up Countdown/Woolworth. It's not good enough.
NO SUPERANNUITANTS TUESDAY DISCOUNT AT GLENFIELD
Please explain why a Gold Card, on Tuesdays, can be used at certain North Shore Stores eg Milford and Browns Bay but not at the Glenfield Store
Since Countdown NZ started selling Woolworths brand goods…
Since Countdown NZ began selling Woolworths brand goods what little quality rep Countdown had has gone.
I purchased a tray of chicken nibbles against my better judgement and it was rubbish. Instead of usual skin on wings and legs the pack was entirely unidentifiable lumps of chicken that looked like a chook that had been trimmed by an axe murderer.
Woolworth is renowned in Aus for sourcing bulk fresh and processed food from any supplier willing to supply at WW price regardless of quality and like all introduced pests it's now in NZ.

VERY POOR SERVICE
I went to Kelvin Grove PN supermarket at about 8pm last night to do full weekly shop. When I arrived at the checkout, there was not one checkout open and I had no choice but to use the self serve checkout. There was a time in the not too distant past that one could not use the self serve checkout to do large shop. I set up my bags and machine beeped and needed assistance. I scanned milk and it beeped again. The very nice young employee did assist and when I vented my frustration about the poor service, he offered to assist. I suggested he do the lot and stood back. He was very good, helpful and polite and he continued to scan my shopping. HOWEVER, I did feel obliged to point out to him that the service was extremely poor, self scanning a fully trolley is not easy and, bearing in mind the cost of groceries (not to mention the expensive fruit that when you get home is half rotten) together with the massive profit made by the supermarket, I did point out to him, very clearly how annoyed I was that at least one teller was not on duty to assist. Surely Countdown/Woolworths with the profits they have can afford ONE person on the checkout to scan groceries through at not so busy times.
