Unfortunately the course has not been updated since 2024. I found myself doing the course I’d done then again.

Study with the writing school founded by the major literary & talent agency. We've been helping writers tell their stories since 2011. CBC is one of the UK’s most successful writing academies, running courses online and in London. Since CBC was founded in 2011 by Anna Davis (still its Managing Director), over 300 students have become commercially published authors, including Julia Armfield (Our Wives Under the Sea), Bonnie Garmus (Lessons in Chemistry), Emilia Hart (Weyward), Alex Hay (The Housekeepers), Jennie Godfrey (The List of Suspicious Things), Lucy Rose (The Lamb) and Nussaibah Younis (Fundamentally). Our lessons are practical and positive. We'll help you write the story you want tell, find your trusted readers and get advice from leading authors, top literary agents and experienced publishers. We run courses for budding novelists, children's authors, short story writers, screenwriters and non-fiction writers. We also run the Breakthrough Writers’ Programme, a major initiative offering free mentoring, courses and scholarships to under-represented writers.

I had a great time
I had a great time, learnt many things and had the support of a great tutor. I would recommend this course not only for the learning but also for the contacts and the insight one gains into an agency like CB.

Outstanding course
I took the online courses, and the face-to-face London based 3 month course. The quality of teaching is very high, and it's led me to represented by a top agent, as well as having a community of writer friends, who I highly value. The courses are well managed, and the team are passionate. I'm very glad I took the plunge and applied for the longer course, as it changed my life.

I did the 6-month face-to-face…
I did the 6-month face-to-face novel-writing course and found it to be excellent. A good mix of 'learning-the-craft' input, alongside learning to become more savvy about the industry. The range of tutors and guest speakers involved gives great depth and range to the whole experience. Others on the course were serious about strengthening their writing and building a career and as a group we continue to meet and support each other in invaluable ways. The course and support from fellow-writers were major factors in helping me to get an excellent agent.
