Don't go near Sila
I bought a top of the line AprilAir whole house humidifier from Sila and they installed it in December 2022 for $5,000. (Their own technician who installed the unit confided to me that I had overpaid.)
- The unit (suspiciously) failed immediately after the first routine maintenance by Sila.
- Sila asked over $1,200 to repair it.
- The cost included replacing multiple parts that had failed, and moving the unit to a different location because it had been installed incorrectly. They also recommended completely replacing the unit for over $2,000.
- The unit was under warranty, but they denied this. When I sent them the warranty certificate they said ok the unit was under warranty but the parts were not. When I pointed out to them that they were the ones who installed the unit "incorrectly" they stonewalled me.
- I called the manufacturer, who agreed that the unit including all parts was under warranty. They sent me without charge a single part that they said would fix the problem. They said that the unit was installed incorrectly, but that it should work fine anyway.
- I sent an email to their customer service address and to their customer service manager asking them to address these issues and received no response.
- I called an honest HVAC company and they installed the new part. The unit works fine now. Total repair cost with the honest company was $105.
Don't go near these egg sucking weasels.
