Taken me a year to get money out of them, do not work sub contract

We’ve used Dutton FM for a number of maintenance and repair works and have always found them to be professional, responsive and efficient. Communication is clear from start to finish, quotes are detailed and transparent, and the engineers attend site promptly and complete works to a high standard.

They take the time to properly diagnose issues rather than just applying a quick fix, and everything is left clean and tidy. It’s refreshing to work with a contractor that is organised, accountable and genuinely cares about the quality of their work.

Would highly recommend for property maintenance and reactive works.

Worst company I have ever had the displeasure of sub contracting for!! They don't pay and are a complete circus of a company! How these are in business baffles me. Atleast the debt collectors have an address to visit i suppose though.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE IF YOU WOULD WANT PAID FOR YOUR SERVICES!!!!

Failed to pay my invoice after months of reminding them about it.
They promised to send payment but was never received for the work I carried out.
We went above and beyond in a residential block to help an elderly man with his flood.
We repaired his floor and provided a very fast service (within a few days of the call) to get him back into his flat.

I did a job for these guys in September 2025. I’ve still not been paid. I had bought parts for the job and I’m now out of pocket. They’re thieves. They get local small firms to do a job and then they don’t pay for the work done. You call them and don’t get through. They promise payment then never pay.

This company acted dishonestly and failed to pay for completed work.
On a Sunday morning I received an urgent call from a woman representing Dutton Construction Ltd, asking for immediate emergency assistance for their client. I agreed to take the job and handled the situation personally.
I worked the entire Sunday and successfully resolved the problem in full for their client. The service was completed as requested and delivered professionally.
Despite this, Dutton Construction Ltd has never paid me for my service. It has now been over 8 months since the work was completed. Numerous opportunities were given to resolve this, yet no payment has been made.
Based on my experience, I consider this company unreliable and untrustworthy. I strongly advise other contractors and service providers to be very cautious when dealing with them.

CONTRACTOR'S STAY CLEAR! DO NOT DO ANY WORK FOR THIS COMPANY.. YOU WILL NOT BE PAID!

My company has been waiting a month for payment on an invoice for a fairly minimal amount. I have spoken to the director over the phone several times (Joe Dutton) and he assures you that he will chase payment and call you back to confirm. No one ever calls you back. He has now blocked my number and refuses to take any of my calls.

I have tried ringing the office line to chase payment and no one picks up the phone either.

Based on the reviews for this business, my company is not the only one who hasn't been paid for honest work. Dutton Facilities management should be ashamed!

We have given Dutton Construction ample opportunity to pay.
We were prompt with our work and invoice was sent.
Dutton Construction and their client were happy with our job.
We went out of our way to complete two jobs at a last minute emergency and have been repayed by I'll treatment and ripped off !

We've dealt with Dutton Construction and it's been a nightmare. They owe us £102 for a carpet clean and shampoo done back in April 2025 and refuse to pay up.

ZERO RESPONSE to emails. No acknowledgement, no apology, no payment plan. The only response we've gotten was on WhatsApp, where they promised to call back... but never did. 🤷‍♂️

The few times we've managed to speak to them, they've made empty promises of payment by a certain deadline, but it's never paid. No intention to pay, just stringing us along. Don't waste your time and money with these scammers! 🚫💔

Avoid this company at all costs. We went out of our way to do multiple jobs for them — even helped them out for free — and they’ve shown nothing but complete disrespect. They dodge calls, ignore emails, and feed you the same excuses every time: “we’ll get back to you” or “we’re trying to get back on top of things.” It’s a total joke. They have no intention of paying what they owe and treat people like fools. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Do yourself a favour and stay miles away from this company.

Trades stay away from this company has to be the worst and dishonest company in the world.

10 Months I’ve waited for an invoice to be cleared just keep getting fed lies after lies.

The MD Elizabeth flashes her shiny awards acting all high and mighty but In reality she’s just a fraud who rips of hard working tradesmen time after time. I even went as far as agreeing a £50 payment plan which she couldn’t honour.

Just a very dishonest company rotten to the core.

Still owed money from an invoice last September. Every week I keep getting told it would be sorted this week and I always have to chase it and just get told the same things. ‘The cheque has been picked up and it’s waiting to clear so it will be sorted this week’ or ‘we are making slow progress trying to get everyone paid’

Don’t work for these scammers because that is all they are duttons called me to look at a job i went out and did a job for them and I did 3 visits and completed the job and they have not paid and every time you ring they say they will ring back but never do then don’t answer the fone

Still awaiting payment for an invoice from October last year. Done a few jobs to start with and payment was fine but when I bigger invoice was sent they do not pay. Just read reviews on here and do searches in Facebook groups and you will see lots of people with the same issues. You will be met with a lot of stalling tactics from Elizabeth and Richard. Both clearly experienced in this!!

Please don't work for this company. They get you out on bank holidays then just don't pay you! After chasing time and time again. Never return calls or reply to emails. They really do pray on small comes trying to make ends meat and just rob you.

These people may aswell be thieves they ask local small businesses to do work for them and never pay the invoices but instead come out with excuses as why they have not paid one way or another I bet they pay my bill

My husband is a self employed Electrician and has been chasing payment for 4 jobs now since April. Keep promising that payment will be made. Wish we’d looked at social media beforehand there are a lot of people in same position.I would advise anyone to stay far away from this company.

Avoid at all costs! Dutton FM do not pay their contractors.
We run a small reputable company and have lost count of how many times we have called to get our invoice paid, it has been several months!
Richard Dutton has repeatedly promised to pay and not delivered. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Update:
I was finally contacted by the general manager, but unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. I had hoped for a call in response to my request for help, but instead, the focus was solely on discussing my review. During the conversation, I was spoken to in a raised voice and later received emails and text messages that made me feel threatened with potential legal action for defamation. This experience has left me feeling quite shaken. As requested, I am updating my review to reflect a more accurate account.

Edit Review: Unfortunately, I'm not having a great experience with their finance department. I paid twice for the same invoice back in August 2024. Once directly to this company and the other time throughout my letting agent. Despite contacting both companies multiple times to recover the overpaid £444, I received no resolution.
Every time I called Dutton FM, I was told that the matter was being looked into and that someone would get back to me, but no one ever did until today after posting my review.
The lack of follow-up and accountability has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I genuinely hope this gets resolved soon, but as of now, I can't recommend their financial service support based on my experience.
