Dont use them. If your at a hotel in the lake district. Avoid them. They upfront charge you 45 pounds when you connect. Then you try and use there charges and it disconnects. Even when im using the hotel wifi, the chargers disconnect and charges 45 pounds. So i now have 8x45 pounds stuck on pending and I have less than 15 pounds of charging fee when the car did charge for a couple of hours at 5kw ph.they shouldn't charge a fee. They should do tip up only and charge people the fee for charging with what's in there top up account. Now I have 8x 45 pounds as I tried 1 more time. And my car charged for 15 mins then disconnect. I want my money back today. And not 1 to 7 days time. I have bills to pay. I can see a small claims court action coming on. And I can see a MP to change the way ev charges its customers.
Unable to remove the charger plug from the dock, despite a £55 prepayment authorisation having been placed on my card. Emergency number very little use - apparently put my issue on as a high alert to the next level support team. Over 8 hours and no call. I’d ended up having to put a hold on my card.

22kwh charger charging at 4kwh. Not really helping is it?
Apart from the fact that they are doing themselves out of an extra 9 pounds an hour in charging costs why is it only pushing out 4kwh worth of charge.
Truly frustrating

App wouldn't connect, 4g obviously not enough - so used contactless Credit card. Followed instruction 3 times went through authorization, eventually it said yes, £55 taking on card. I breathed a sigh of relief as it was windy and wet - Then Error, no charge. In frustration I moved to adjacent fast charger. Same authorization to start charge£55 taken no charge same #2005 error message. went to nearby slow charger 10 KW Sigh! Another £45.00 taken for £4.74 charge - Hooray it charged, so thankful for what we receive! very slow 30+ mins later had just enough charge to get home. This was East Sussex National Hotel. The warning was on entering this EV dedicated car park, many of the bays were occupied but no cars plugged in. I assume the regulars know there is no point. The £155 was refunded next day. But that's not the point. Why take money, waste customers time, when the charge can't be delivered? I rang the help line twice, on hold. Fed up. EV driver for 5 years. This kind of time wasting, anxiety BS still going on. Lucky 90% of my charging is at home so great at 5.5 a KW overnight. On the road pay up to 89p a KW and nothing but hassle. The #2005 is a connection error. It connected on slow charge OK, I have since connected on fast charger no issue GridServe.
Encouraged to use their facilities for charging my car. I used chargers at grand junction retail Park in Crewe Cheshire. The chargers could deliver little more than a trickle charge into my car. Overall the charged took three hours and 5 minutes. Unbeknown to me you can only stay on the site for three hours. No signs erected by the chargers, no warning on the app. So by the time I had finished charging my car I've had the pleasure of having 45.00 deducted from my account - still not been refunded for the difference, but I've also been issued with £100 fixed penalty charge notice for staying on the site too long. Who in the right mind positions charges that take over three hours to charge your car on a site where you can only stay three hours before you incur £100 parking fine. Total cost to charge my car which should have been around 18.00 has thus far cost me £145. That has to be up there with the most expensive charging of an electric car out there. How much responsibility do ROAM want to take for this? absolutely none, promised several callbacks non-received,took my email address to contact me back, never heard from them, absolute garbage. Please continue to use their facilities if you like to part with your hard-earned cash!!!
Working with Roam was straightforward and efficient. Their team was responsive, professional, and supportive throughout the project, delivering a high-quality installation. The entire process was smooth and well organised.
The chargers installed by Roam have so far proven to be extremely reliable, easy to use, and flexible for staff, external users, and our fleet. They have made EV charging convenient and accessible, with excellent back-office support for management.

Great chargers - convinient and easy to use with contactless payment. Will look into the membership option if there are other chargers near me

There were four charges at the hotel to use via the Roam EV charging app. None of them worked unfortunately after scanning the qr code, installing the app and registering with my email. I even called the number on the unit but the person could not help. This is very disappointing.
Loads of trouble getting the charger to work. Gave up on that amateur app and used contacless card instead. Ended up with multiple £55 charges showing on my bank
First time charging with Roam. Their website clearly states the authorisation fee is refunded within 1-7 days. Reading other reviews, they frequently mislead customers and withhold reimbursement. No refund issued and I’ve had to chase my refund (£45 deducted/energy used for charge £19). The 7 day window has passed. Clearly not the first time this has happened reading other reviews. I will take this further and report to the energy ombudsman (EVCC) due to the fact this company aren’t reputable and keep reoffending. I will also be calling the hotel where the charger is located to inform them of the impact this company has on their guests. Dreadful behaviour.
First time using Roam and had real trouble getting the charger to work (I don't have the app), and have been charged £55 despite the machine telling me my pre-authorisation payment was declined. Now I have to hope that they realise that no power was used and I get a full refund. I will update this post but I'm not hopeful.
Let me say this, the charger worked fine but I will never use Roam to charge ever again. It cost me £45 upfront to charge and I spent just £7.73 so am due a refund of £37.27 according to their app. It is 36 days later and I am yet to receive a refund. I have just called to complain about this matter, they’ve taken my details and someone from the accounts team is going to call me back tomorrow to sort it out. Abysmal behaviour and abysmal customer service.
Never use the public chargers costs 55 pound before u even start and have to wait over a week to get money back insta volt 100 million times better
You need to download the app and register a card to use the charger. Ac only, so basically worse case scenario when you want a charge.
New chargers on Lower Mll Estate.
The chargers in 1 car park were offline. The other charger was obstructed by another car.
Not a fan - used them the other day and why a connection fee - it frustrates me. Will avoid and use other supplier
We were approached by EVC (now called Roam) and told that they would install commercial chargers in our pub carpark. They would cover all the costs and maintain the equipment. We would be paid a small annual rent for them to use our space.
We were told that legal fees would be covered by them and that we’d be reimbursed for any legal fees. They then recommended a solicitor/legal company we could use. So we did and started the process, after a while we tried and tried to make contact, the solicitor also tried to make contact but no response.
We then get a £3000 bill from the solicitor. He states that EVC have changed their mind as it was taking too long and things have changed. There was a clause in the contract that stated 90 days to start work. (But was told this is just a formality and they understand it can take longer)
We managed to finally speak with the rep and EVC but their decision was final and we’ve been left with a bill. They said they would contact us within a week to possibly help with the bill but that was 3 months ago and they no longer reply to emails and phone numbers for our contacts are no longer active. I would urge anyone considering using this company to think twice.
