Brilliant firm
We used FJG to when purchasing our house as first time buyers and couldn’t be happier with the service. Professional, friendly, great communication and speedy service. Would definitely recommend.

I've dealt with a few people across FJG in various departments and my experience has always been great.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
FJG were the conveyancers employed by my seller. I am a first time buyer, and my seller was very elderly so there was no chain. Because of this, you would think it was to be a swift transaction, due to his known frail state, however FJG caused delays of over 7 months, that on the day of proposed simultaneous exchange and completion, Gayle Fordham decided to
take a days holiday without passing her work over to a colleague, and the seller sadly then passed away the following Monday causing the sale to fall through.
My offer was accepted on the 14th March, my mortgage offer was received a week later, the seller was deemed of good mental capacity in May, got to June and no parties could get hold of the predecessor Donna Duca. We were only then advised at the end of August that she had 'left' the company, so with that can only assume the file was left in a state of limbo for 3 months. After complaints from the estate agent, Lorraine King apologised prefusely for how the case had been handled and vowed to progress efficiently from then onwards. This gave some confidence, only for it to be passed onto Gayle Fordham who did the same thing with the file. My mortgage broker, in desperation to get the case progressing before my mortgage offer expired, eventually managed to get through to Gayle who was blatantly rude and shouted at her, before putting the phone down! A lot of the delays were due to Gayle insisting on speaking to my seller, despite him having an LPA already in place. I now understand that FJG are the Executors to his will....
Its taken me months to be able to put this into words, as being a first time buyer i was really upset by this experience. I still had to pay my solicitors for the aborted purchase, which was understandeable as they took me to completion. FJG weren't even my conveyancers and have caused me to lose money.
I will never choose to have dealings with FJG again and will strongly deter others from employing them also.

For residential conveyancing choose another law firm
A simple residential purchase was made very difficult and stressful by the rudeness, incompetence and blatant fee-earning of Gayle Fordham and Matthew Desborough. They repeatedly failed to keep us informed of progress; failed to act on instructions given and failed to exercise any degree of courtesy or client service. Please avoid this firm.
In response to FJG's reply, I have not been contacted at all.

Rude
Colchester office. Wouldn't know if they're any good. Rude person that answered hung up before I'd finished my sentence. Manners cost nothing.
Appalling Solicitors
I used Donna Duca and I had an awful experience. She never responded to me and was very rude, saying my case was 'not a priority'. In the end, my divorce has taken 6 years to go through with her, when she said it would take 3. Furthermore, FJG Billericay should hire a better receptionist - he blanked me when I greeted him. Overall, I am ashamed with FJG and will never use them again.

We have had a complaint found in our favour by the Legal Ombudsman by the way they have handled themselves during our daughter’s domestic abuse case.
Leading to them pay for the distress caused to our daughter, for example failing to ensure evidence was provided for a Family Court Hearing.
I agree with the comments made by Mel in regards to Mr Peachey.

This company would benefit by not having Ash Peachey representing them. Clearly has an issue with dealing with females respectfully. He is rude dishonest unhelpful and a Law unto himself. Avoid.
Be wary. Be very wary!! Or better still avoid.
Unfortunately I had a very poor experience in relation to a request for will/estate management support following the death of my parents.
Although our case was relatively simple. Quoted fees were high. Quoted timelines were protracted and the client care was extremely weak from a firm partner (little to no empathy) driven by what appeared a superiority complex.
And when dis-instructed there was zero interest into finding out why we had taken this decision.
Ironically I had used their services in the past, as had my parents. So even if you also have used them in the past I recommend to be extremely cautious if considering them again.
FJG gives solcitors their bad name
Used to sell a rental property- no chain at either end. Sale took 5.5 months.
When our Solicitor went on long term sick leave the company failed to provide us with a new lead but instead hoped we would not notice that our only correspondence was from a secretary.
After putting in an official complaint we were given a Partner of the firm to represent us, initially the service improved however this did not last longer than a few weeks.
Some highlights of our experience were:
-Twice told we could chase a management company ourselves if we wanted a response. We we picked up the phone as opposed to sending an email (the effort level only ever provided by FJG), we got an instant outcome.
- Sent a document that we needed to sign urgently to our empty rental instead of our home.
- When asking for support on challenging a fee we were told "I agree that, the charges from PMS were not expected....I leave you to challenge the fee with PMS, if you wish to do so"
The stress and work that we felt and had to put in to this sale as been utterly disgraceful.
I understand that FJG has been sold to a corporate company and this seems to mean that service quality and simple pride in work by their team has been lost.
This particuler office in sudbury…lack of proffesionalism
This particuler office in sudbury suffolk ,clearly havent got the qualities of the late STEED and STEED, lack of communication ,dictating to you ,rude ,lack of sensitivty due to berevment , half the time the person in question ,was away on a JOLLY, on return all you get from them for prolonged completion , is I WILL SEE TO IT ALL WHEN I CAN ,BUT DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH, was so rude and demandingly insenstive to my wife , YOU ALL NEED TO GO TO CHARM SCHOOL TO AT LEAST LEARN SOME MANNERS , THESE THRIVE ON GULLIBALNESS AND NIEEVATY , NOT TAKING INTO ACCOUNT TIME SCALE AND IMPORTANCE SO THEY CAN HOLD ONTO YOUR MONIES FOR LONGER , IF NOT ALREADY ONBOARD WITH THSE FROM THE LATE STEED AND STEED , AVOID AVOID

Very disappointing service from the Sudbury office
Lack of communication and simple transfer took 6 months to complete.
The former company Steed & Steed plc were excellent , it is a shame they were taken over by FGI
Zero customer care and courtesy
We used FJG to do the conveyancing on a property.
We were extremely disappointed with the lack of communication, their customer care and their basic level of courtesy.
Questions from the buyers solicitors having to be answered more than once, due to the sloppy format in which the responses were sent. Very difficult to get to speak to anybody on the phone, and then found the secretary to be antagonistic and full of excuses as to why things had not been done.
I tried to speak to a senior partner without success, was then told by email that I was not a client of the firm, after having dealings with them for over 3 months. This of course just confirmed that my already low opinion of them was correct. Later the same day it was conceded that I was indeed a client, as I am one of the executors of a will, but no apology was forthcoming.
Contracts had to be amended three times before they could be signed due to mistakes and omissions.
The sale of this property is still ongoing, but we have now instructed a new solicitor.
I would completely avoid
I would completely avoid! Gayle Fordham at FJG almost cost us and a lot of other people a whole lot of money and heartache.
Wasn’t very forthcoming with the truth, not reading emails thoroughly which resulted in her missing important points or requesting already provided documents/details, random out of office notifications in the middle of the day, almost all her emails were rude/condescending in tone, she wouldn’t even spare her paying clients a face to face conversation.
Basically she was a problem and not ever a solution during the whole transaction.
It took constant emails and calls from estate agents (who provided the referral in the first place), her clients, onward solicitors and office visits from her clients to force her to progress the transaction.
If you want to actually complete on your sale, I’ll say find your own lawyers who aren’t local, has more experience with various lenders and are actually going to try finding solutions to help you move forward.
This is not that place. Goodluck.

I started my divorce proceedings with the clacton branch who passed me on too Ties Bouwmeester who talked me through every step and helped me with paperwork and also got so much help from his secretary Jo Milgate
Who was a massive help. I cannot thank these 2 people enough for the help they both gave me and they are both a credit to the company.
Again I would like to thank the both of them again for the help they gave me and dealing swiftly with everything.
Awful rude solicitors
Awful rude solicitors. Sending paperwork late , missing information, Steer clear !!!

Had a really terrible time with this company who are administrating my uncles estate. Terrible communication, very disorganised, lack of knowledge about the basic HMRC processes. Have lodged a complaint and are currently about to go through legal ombudsman. Steer clear!!
Shoddy service throughout.
Shoddy service throughout what should have been a straightforward sale of my mothers property, constantly having to chase up to get any progress of any sort. Communication or lack of would be my biggest bugbear, and on the rare occasions I was able to speak to my representative, I was spoken to in a way I found condescending. This company should refocus on communication.
