I had the same experience as most of you with this company. I call BS on this company not only for “requiring” a certified letter to cancel in the age of technology or accepting a cancellation over the phone but automatically renewing contracts because it was in the “fine print”. I sent the certified letter and told them to eat the balanced owed. I received another request for payment. I contacted AZ state attorney general and filed a complaint. That was in July 2022 and I have not received another correspondence from the company. I urge you file a complaint if are still not able to resolve your issue with this scam. The state attorney’s office was quick to respond and followed up with me after they had attempted to contact the office with no avail.

I sent a cancellation hand written letter to their company on behalf of my mother inlaw also the signatory but this company still continues to charge us monthly for the service that we dont even use or cannot access because we already have an ADT system at our house. Ripoff company.

This is by far the worst experience ever with this company. Lied to about the length of the contract. Do your research and read all reviews on other review sites about how many years your contract will end up being and about how you will have the hardest time canceling the contract after the time period is up!!! They get you stuck and if you ever try to cancel before the years they keep adding to your contract, you'll have to pay all the years in advance to cancel the contract. They get you stuck with them. It's a scam they work by to keep robbing you. Terrible!!!

One star because I can't go lower. It use to be GHS Security but know it goes by VIO. I wrote a review a few months ago about being locked into another year without even being asked. I was then told that I could cancel in December so here we are December 1st and called to cancel only to be told that I still had three months. As you can imagine, I lost my cool and was very angry. I am so ready to be rid of this company. The battery operated cameras stopped working after the second charge. I have been paying for a service that I have not been able to use for three years!! The person who I spoke to said he would email me and that I could then respond to the email to write a statement as to why I want to cancel my service... It has been an hour and I have not received anything... Will I ever be able to cancel?
Worse company to have
Worse company to have. Employees have an attitude and are rude, they don't inform you about your renewal and overcharge you if you want to cancel. Not a good company to work with there service is not good.
Charges to monitor but does not actually monitor
This company charges you to monitor your system. Mine was not even monitored. An unknown person attempted to steal a tire off of my car parked in my driveway. When I went to review the footage, I found that there was only a live view on the app. While I was looking at my camera feeds I noticed that the app said my system was offline. I went to check the panel, and the panel showed no errors. I called in for tech support, and was told I would receive a call back. I never received the call. Any voicemail I get on my cell phone is through Google Voice and there is a transcription of the voice mail. I do this so no matter where I am, or whether I am with or without service, I will know if someone called or left a VM. I ended up switching alarm companies. The Alarm system was completely removed and taken off-line. There was not a single call from GHS/Vio for over a week. I called in again, and asked when the last call home event from my panel had taken place. The technical support rep seemed confused about what I was asking. I asked again in a more simple and straight forward way, "When was the last time that the monitoring service received any signal from the alarm system that I am paying to be monitored?" He could not provide an answer. I confirmed with him that if a sensor is tampered with, that there should be a monitoring alert sent to the monitoring service. I then said I want to cancel my service since they were not meeting their contractual obligation of monitoring my system. At this point he tried to tell me that he would have a tech come out and fix the system. I refused. I restated that there was supposed to be a tech come to fix previous issues and that I never received a call, and restated that the alarm had been removed. He then started to argue with me telling me that a tech did call me. I asked for the date and time. I then checked my Google Voice history and there was no record of any call. I relayed this information to him and again stated that I wanted to cancel my service. I was then transferred to a "Retention Specialist". This "Retention Specialist" was the rudest person I have ever spoken to. Once he realized that I was not going to accept any "Deal" to keep my service his tone changed. He told me I will have to pay off the remaining contract. I asked for what. I again stated that they had failed to meet their contractual obligation of monitoring my system and that they couldn't even tell me when the last time they actually were monitoring the system. I told him I wanted to speak to a supervisor. He put me on hold, and when he finally came back, I was told that a supervisor was not available, and that one would call me within 72 hours. Not surprisingly, the call never came. Fast forward to the 1st and I have a charge to my bank account for GHS monitoring. I have tried to call in several times, and I am on hold forever and do not get an answer. It makes me wonder if they have my number on a list to not answer. I have tried to log on to alarm.com to stop my auto payment. My password does not work and the forgot password link does not send an email to reset the password. I had to call my bank and pay them a fee to issue a stop payment. These types of deceptive business practices should have legal consequences. I will be retaining legal representation if they come after me for cancelling my auto pay with a stop-pay through my bank.

"BUYER BEWARE""AVOID AVOID AVOID DO NOT sign up with this company..We were contacted concerning an upgrade on the system was due and my husband thought it was our previous company after installation of their system again the tech said your upgrade was installed..we recieved a bill from GHS..now known as Vio.. I then contacted the company and they REFUSED to cancel saying I signed a contract but when I asked for them to send me this so called contract I supposedly signed, they tell me they will do that but nothing has ever showed up, I then received an email trying to get me to e-sign the documents which I have refused to sign..I have tried numerous different times to get this crappy service canceled and I am always given the run around..Their equipment is nothing more than junk, cameras never worked but for a day after Techs come out several times then want to charge $75 to $100 a month for junk..Cant wait to be out from under this company..am seeking legal council on this matter as I type this review
Don’t sign, there are better security companies out there now
I do not recommend this company for security, we were locked in for five years paying $55+ a month and couldn’t wait to be done with this contract. We would have cancelled quickly but couldn’t afford the up front pay in full- full contract amount as a lot happens in 5 years, especially with the pandemic and then personal family matters- during which we did not even know they rebranded and did not receive any notifications (checked our email multiple times and spam/junk folders) like most companies do along with a physical letter or email of services coming to a close not an auto renewal. When I called Sunday I was told billing was closed and could have a call back (which never happened) so I called Monday and was disconnected twice then on the third attempt I finally spoke with a representative who stated they can cancel and would have to pay in full the remainder auto renewal contract of $600+ but before that can even take place I would need to send a letter of cancellation, even though the call is recorded and I stated wanting to cancel which should be sufficient like most all companies, they also do not accept any email cancellations, only a physical letter of cancellation is required to even get the ball rolling and then I’m sure they take that full amount via auto pay quick without you knowing. I’ll be sending it to follow through to get this going as I want to be over this nightmare company and curse the day we even signed up and just went with another well known company, not this at the time local company-as we wanted to support a community company which now we never will never do moving forward without going through a complicated contract with a fine tooth comb, cause the hits just keep coming if you sign up as you can see the reviews more and more. Would not recommend this alarm company, unless you want to stay locked into a never ending saga, lack of communication via email of any changes or mailed notifications by a company, and having a cancellation process be the most inconvenient for a customer; no options on the app or email to cancel. Mistakes were made by us so please keep scrolling for a better home security company and read the fine print!!!! Will send my letter and I’m sure there will be something new of “did not receive the cancellation letter” just to keep it going- so just in case I will send multiple letters and follow up and sure to be disconnected a few times again before I get someone to just get this over and done with.

We had to sell our house and move in with my wife's mother due to health issues. We unfortunately had GHS at both locations. We had to end or contract at a cost of 2000.00 read your contract before you sign anything. Sad!!!
Bad Customer Service
I called VIO 3 times and spoke to customer service before my contract ended and explained that my cable company is offering security service at lesser price than I was paying through VIO and the representative explained that they would lower my monthly price to $29 a month with a 3 yr contract and don’t know why I said ok but in fact my monthly payment was raised to$36 a month and I was given a one yr contract I’ve called back several time and a ticket was given but again no call back I’ll end my contract and will look for better service and better customer service. I’ll put this message on yelps as well.

I have had the alarm for three years with a five year contract and I pay $50.00 a month. It wasn't until the installers who showed up and started taking out my old system that came with the house and installed theirs that they told me that there is a five year contract and when I ask they left with no answer. When I called the company I haven't gotten an answer to this day. I also hear people talking on it from time to time, I get alerts all the time that my system is off-line and it can last for hours and sometimes it has lasted for days. I also don't know why they charge so much when other companies $10-20 dollars a month.

From reading the reviews, we are NOT the only one who DID NOT receive the alleged notice of change from GHS to Vio and the notice of rates change and the date it will be taken out. Adan - I hope you did not pay a lot for that "LEADERSHIP" crew you were BS'ing about. WE DID NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH VIO. Cancel our account please and stop robbing your once happy customers blind!

This company steals money !!!!
I have had GHS, now Vio for 3 years, signed a 5 year contract. This month not only did they up my rate with no notice, (yes I checked all of accounts, spam, all and regular on the account I've had for over 5 years) they also double charged me for the month. If I paid my total due for 30 days on May 24th, how is it legal to take the full amount again on June 1st. This means I paid for 30 days on the 24th, bit only received 7 days of service before I was charged a full 30 days again on the 1st. If I signed a contract agreeing to the terms and conditions set forth in the contract, how can they make changes to my contract without even notifying me, and steal my money at the same time???
As you can see from the response below they didn't actually read my comment, just submitted a generic response that does not even touch in the theft of my money.

GHS , Worst security company ! I have just been notified that I was billed 2times for my service as an automatic withdrawal! I attempted to find out why and was placed on hold for over 35min, no one picked up! I also NEVER RECEIVED a copy of a signed contract when the installer came, a year later when I still did not know of how to properly set up the alarm, customer service sent me a PDF thru my email and was to small to read off my phone that I called to get a hard copy sent to my home address and they advised me that they don’t do that!!!
Now to find out GHS is now Vio Security... when we’re they to advise their customers. Not everyone reads their email and correspondence SHOULD BE ADDRESSED THROUGH THE USPS!! Not satisfied and I’m awaiting to finalize this situation, and what my payment refunded that they withdrew twice this month!!

Filing petition in Federal Court today.May I add, the first call last year the lady tried to trick me in e-signing to another contract and I refused.

THIS IS NOT A MILITARY FRIENDLY COMPANY. I sold my house last month because im moving to hawaii. The buyer agrees to take over the account. I called them 4x, 1 per week to ensure that the transition happen. They told me that they will reach out to the buyer, so i provided the buyers name and contact info. 1 month passed and they still haven’t reached out to the buyer, until the buyer decided to move with a different company. Now i am left with the account and pretty told me to fck myself because i failed to do my due diligence to inform the buyer.. Thats not the worst part. I talked to Carlos, an account manager. Told me that he was in the Air Force and that i need to talk to my 1SG about the account. And started a pissing contest with me.
TELLING YOU GUYS DO NOT GET THIS SECURITY COMPANY. THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS AND HAS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Terrible company
Terrible company, terrible employees, terrible service.
I've had GHS / Vio for a few years, and I wish I never did. Last February (2020), they did an "upgrade" of my security system that took a few hours (after being told it would take much less time), and in the end it was actually a huge downgrade, with broken and old equipment just left in place.
They didn't tell me ahead of time that they would be installing new, unsightly sensors on all the doors (my house has built-in sensors on all the doors and windows, and the GHS system had been using those before this "upgrade"). Now I have these large plastic boxes on all my doors, where I didn't before.
They didn't tell me ahead of time that they were going to replace my wireless motion sensor camera with a wired one that would fail if the power went out. When I found this out, I had to argue with the tech to get them to give me a wireless one, but they had to come back another day for that.
The tech who did the upgrade fried the house's built-in alarm panel, and didn't bother to tell me. I only found out later when the other tech came back to setup the wireless motion sensor camera. I mentioned to him that the window sensors were all offline, and he looked into it. He found out the panel was fried, but said it wasn't their fault. It was working before the tech tried to upgrade the system, and it stopped working while he worked on it. I don't know how someone could say it wasn't their fault. So not only did they not bother telling me that I no longer had working window sensors, but then they told me that it wasn't anything they did, and that I'd have to contact Ranger (the company that provided all the built-in security equipment for my house) and work that out with them.
When the tech finished the work, they gave me something to sign. He said it was just to confirm the upgrade was complete, but when I read it, it was a 6-month contract extension that he was trying to sneak in. No one had said anything about extending my contract as part of the upgrade, so I refused to sign it. Very shady that they were just trying to sneak that in by saying "here, sign off on my work". This is the kind of company GHS / Vio is.
The tech who was supposed to show up a few days later at 11:30 to install the motion sensor never showed up. When I called to ask about it, they had no record of anyone scheduled. Apparently the previous tech never submitted the order for that. I was told someone would come by around 4:30, but they didn't arrive until around 5:30.
The new camera he had to install didn't have motion sensors like the previous one did, so it was also a downgrade of equipment. I was told that was the only option. The tech struggled for over an hour to get the new camera to join my wifi network, and had to call his tech support. It turns out the new camera doesn't accept special characters in the wifi password, so I'd have to change my password. I wasn't about to do that for them, so they had to install a motion sensor without a camera (still a downgrade). I guess the wired equipment wasn't the "only option" after all.
The tech didn't feel like getting a step ladder, so instead of removing the old sensor and replacing it with the new one, he left the non-functioning one where it was, and installed the new one about halfway down the wall, and not in the corner where it was less obvious like the last sensor. So, another downgrade from a nice sensor tucked away to one right in the middle of the wall. I had asked him to replace the old one, but he argued and insisted that the new position was better. But I really feel like he just didn't want to bother with it, since he had already been there for hours trying to get the other device to work.
I decided right then that I was going to cancel my service. I found out that the contract is for an entire year, and automatically renews for an entire year every time. My contract wasn't up for cancellation until Feb 2021, so I'd have to wait an entire year and send them a letter stating I wanted to cancel.
I sent them that letter in January 2021. Unfortunately, I was 7 days late getting it post-marked, so now I have to pay for this terrible, useless service for another entire year. An entire year of paying for this horrible service, because I was 7 days late. Unbelievable.
They are unprofessional. They have terrible customer service. Their techs break things and try to hide that from you. They don't take responsibility for their mistakes. They give you worse equipment as the years go by. They are by far the worst security company around.
Avoid them at all costs. I wish I had.
Total garbage
Total garbage. The only time anything got fixed on our system was when I fixed it myself. This is the only company I have ever done business with that cares nothing about customer satisfaction or service. Stay far away from GHS Security!!!!
