Took them over two weeks to clarify a discrepancy in my CV. Actuarial Trainee is apparently not close enough to Trainee Actuary.
This company was supposed to complete a background check for my new employment but has failed to do so properly. They have overlooked key information and misled my employer multiple times, despite clear evidence that certain tasks have not been actioned. As a result, I have been made to look unprofessional in front of my new employer.
More concerning, the checks have not been completed in time for my start date, meaning I will now suffer a financial loss due to missed workdays.
To their credit, they are polite when spoken to, but this is their only redeeming quality. I have spent an unreasonable amount of time chasing them for updates.
The most complicated DBS service I have ever used and this is my job for the last 15 years. Had to submit an application as a volunteer. Have to upload all documents then to verify your ID have to do it again. To get them in focus have to zoom out then says too much background so then submit out of focus and accepts them.
Log in register all your details then have to do it all over again. Says mobile enabled but certain sections aren't so have to switch to laptop then for selfie scan have to switch back to mobile.
If you are thinking of using this service then from a candidate side do not and from a professional side I would say steer well clear.
Giant Group Screening.
I initially submitted my application for a DBS at the end of August 2024 and have been awaiting its completion since then. I have secured a position at a College but am unable to start due to the pending DBS clearance. This delay has now extended to over two months, during which I have missed out on a significant amount of income.
The Screening was not a great experience but did improve when contacting them.
The company asks for information which contradicts the documentation they provide. Originally complained that referees can not be contact because the email is not on their system or its to generic.
They are slow to answer questions via email. Expect at minimum a 24hour turn around. The best way to get answers is via live chat.
Once you do speak to a real person they are normally very helpful and will push the process along. The person who did end up dealing with my screening kept me informed and was the person the same person who dealt with the case from start to finish.
I would give them less than that.
The amateurs cannot handle cases and cost me a delayed start date despite confirming all previous jobs and start dates through hmrc a thorough report was sent to them.
They do not attempt to contact the employers I have proof of this and have delayed my start date and still no avail.
They should be closed down costing people grief and loss of earnings and the employer themselves are of no help.
Giant Screening are in the process of doing the screening for my current job. I started 7 weeks ago and they’ve failed to contact the references I have provided. The company themselves are amateur and the level of stress I’m going through because of them is intense. It’s actually almost costing me my job.
Driving Licence Section would not allow me to move on because my middle name was not matching up with the licence reference. I wasted an awful lot of time trying to 'Continue'. I'm not sure whether there was a note somewhere to say that I needed to provide a middle name if I had one. If there was, I did not see it.
Public interface is terrible for customers.
No human contact by any means.
I never normally write reviews, but i felt this time i had to. Giant kept telling me the documents i'd sent them didn't match their criteria for acceptable documents, even though it matched the criteria set in the link they provided. I sent them everything I could and eventually got over that hurdle. Then they wanted more references, so i provided more. And then 3 months later they emailed me asking me for my permission for them to contact those references. I replied saying to contact whoever they need to, just to do it quickly as it's affecting my job. I couldnt believe that they'd asked me for all that information and then just sat on it for 3 months. Then it appears that they've lied to my employer saying that they've sent me my DBS certificate; which i contest because i haven't yet received anything from them and have had no issues receiving all my other mail. Terrible company and could potentially cost me my job. Trying to get it sorted.
I am on the receiving end. I applied for a position and started work when the screening process wasn’t even complete. Passed my probation period and they are asking me for old P45 because they couldn’t be bothered to call my old employers. Come on! Do better!

Rude, lack common sense for example asking me for a reference regarding travelling? Who am I going recommend the flight attendant? For the job that I’m doing it doesn’t even justify a dbs check. The way the go about their business is beyond rude, talking to you like a little child, I mean seriously it’s laughable at this point. I’m handling bookings for a glasses company not for the MI5 or a banking company. The salary alone doesn’t justify these kind of checks.
I have worked via multiple umbrella companies in the past.
Unfortunately this umbrella is by far the worst.
Onboarding took 5 weeks compared to two weeks by another larger recruitment agency. This involved full candidate screen dbs check and reference checks.
Assignment start date was set up incorrectly meaning i will be paid late.
In addition this company has now been involved in a cyber attack which took their systems offline for nearly a week.
Very slow communication.
Really poor. Two stars is generous!
Worst Team and never get any response other than apologies for their delayed replies.
I am supposed to start my work soon on a Monday since the client is looking for my onboarding in urgency. But though I got 1 week time to finish the paperwork they have never taken any action and the whole 1 week was totally wasted without purpose. If your client recommends also please request them to go with another umbrella company since Gaint Pay is poor at contract set up at the very beginning.
Phoning every day for nearly the past four weeks, and no further forward with any help from Giant. They lack being reactive nevermind proactive. If you have a choice, choose another company
