I was greeted by a happy smiling Julie as I walked through the door.
When I asked about the details of a jacket Julie suggested we go over the the counter and scan the item.
Unfortunately the data was not there so Leo did another search to find the answer.
Following this I was happy to buy the jacket.

I went to Go Outdoors specifically because they are a Paramo stockist. The Paramo range is limited, but something is better than nothing. I also found a reduced pair of Innov8 trail shoes, another niche brand that I’ve had to get online in the past. Back to the Paramo. There is an opportunity to capitalise on being the only major North Devon stockist as, in my opinion, Paramo is unbeatable for our wet, mild, windy, changeable weather conditions. A lot of people are put off because it doesn’t feel right, but my experience and a whole host of YouTube videos attest to its superiority. Go Outdoors could set up a dedicated Paramo corner, train up their staff so they can talk about how they work and how to look after them. I watched one YouTube video where a retailer bought Paramo jackets for his staff. Sales subsequently went through the roof.

I went shopping to Go Outdoors today in Barnstaple. I was met by a really nice, friendly guy called Kevin who was extremely helpful, if only more people throughout the world was like Kevin, the world would be a wonderful place. Well done to Kevin, we will definitely shop again at Go Outdoors again, great kit, and very reasonably priced, friendly , helpful staff 👍😁.

Popped into Go Outdoors today and just wanted to shout out Ben.

He was genuinely lovely from the moment we walked in. Super friendly, easy to chat to, and clearly really knows his stuff. We went in for trail shoes, an Osprey backpack for our travels around South East Asia, and a bunch of camping bits for an upcoming trip, and he took the time to talk everything through properly without rushing us or pushing anything we didn’t need.

You can tell when someone actually enjoys helping people rather than just selling to them, and that was definitely the case here. We left feeling confident we’d bought the right gear and properly excited for the trips ahead.

Also, I really hope Ben ends up going on his dream trip to Australia one day and keeps enjoying the outdoors the way he clearly has done for years. Big thanks to him. A real credit to the store and hopefully this makes its way to his boss. He deserves it.

Kevin was great super helpful and made sure I got what I needed with plenty of advice. Maybe see you in new Zealand one day Kevin. Great work.

I was looking for a pair of ladies walking shoes with arch support, Jeremy was very helpful in finding a pair to try on.

Great product selection for small town. Issue with my membership which the colleague at till was a bit stuck on, her communication could have been a bit better so I didn't wonder why I kept having to repeat myself a lot but once she grabbed her colleague (manager) she explained straight away there were issues with online and quickly honoured my member discount.

I had great service from Ben today who took the time to listen to what I was looking for. He explained in detail what I needed in a walking boot. I certainly wouldn’t have bought them without his help. Thank you Ben

I was finding it difficult to find the right headtorch and was confused by the large choice available. Kevin must have seen my confused face and came over to talk me through all the options. First time going to this store today and was helped by the amazing Kevin. He was so attentive, took time to explain products to us and went above and beyond to help us find what we were looking for. Other staff members were stood around talking and Kevin was aware we needed help and came straight over to us! A credit to the team and a great example of go outdoors staff! Thank you Kevin

Kevin, an absolute star! Had him running backwards and forwards to the warehouse collecting different boots, nothing was too much trouble. Can’t fault the staff in the new store so far.

I previously purchased two merino long sleeved base layers, to compare and contrast different brands. It turned out that the considerably cheaper one was far better quality! I returned the more expensive one and received an instant full refund. I recently went back to buy the same top for my partner, and the leggings for myself. Your assistant Brad could not have been more helpful, and ordered the top for delivery to store. Today I received the notification that it was ready to collect, and my other half is now considerably more cosy than she was! Many thanks Go Outdoors, and Brad in particular.

The reason I took the time to post a review was to say thank you for the customer service provided by a specific member of staff, as well as your general value for money and choice.

People make a brand, and friendliness counts for a great deal, particularly in this day and age.

Jeremy served me today and was incredibly helpful. I had a tough time picking boots but it was no trouble for him going to the stock room repeatedly to get different boots and sizes.
Would recommend this store, clean, tidy and very well stocked, with helpful informative staff.
