The abundance of resources and knowledge shared by the coaches and the academy has been tremendous. This recently helped me to pass my SSCP exam. The excitement of being in a community of like minded individuals that soak in this knowledge, put it to use and reap the reward of that hard work, made me to keep pushing myself and to trust that this process works. Amazing experience so far!
Having dependable coaches and in a group of like minded individuals helped a lot and ease my anxiety. It felt good knowing i wasn’t alone in this journey. especially when it came down to studying for the sec+ exam. I used pocket prep, a youtube playlist(after a coach recommended me) and a the study guide book. I was able to pin point a lot of my troubles remembering certain concepts by jumping around with my sources. So far it’s a great experience and i can’t wait to go forth.

Great Onboarding Experience with Tony
I had such a great onboarding experience with Tony! He was warm, welcoming, and very well informed. He was very personable, answered every question that I had clearly, and was overall just a great person to be onboarded by! Consistency pays off
My name is Barbara a United States Citizen based in Atlanta Georgia.
I joined the Govtech Academy back on June 25, 2025 and it was a great add to my journey while studying for my Security + SYO 701 exam. I set a goal to test no later than June 12th 2026 and I passed the exam on that date. My experience with GovTech was a positive one.
What I valued most, however was the networking opportunities and the knowledge gained from the community. To be able to share in the success of others gave me motivation to keep pushing I am grateful. Through interactions with other members, I learned about valuable resources, study techniques, and websites that helped me find training materials while on my cybersecurity journey.
My primary goal was to pass on my first attempt, so I took my time and spent approximately 11 months due to life turn of events and work. But I never gave up and I was determined to get it done. Gove Tech inspired me on many levels, and the greatest value gain was the connections, resources, encouragement and knowledge that helped me achieve my Security + certification goal.

Thoughts after 5 months at GovTech Academy
I've been going through GovTech Academy for over 5 months. I'm transitioning into the IT field, and it has been a struggle for me. However, I'm making some good progress, which is mostly thanks to the regular check-ins I had with Khristal, Jazzmin, and Janine. These check-ins helped me stay focused, accountable, and most importantly, not give up, even when I was falling behind my targeted goals. They did a great job, helping me reschedule my goals and stay positive.
The staff is always there to help. When ever I have a concern, Janine is usually able to respond within the same day, which has been great whenever I've been lost or confused by something in the curriculum. This was especially true during the first few days of the program, where i really didn't understand the website's layout and features.
The resources GovTech has available to it's students are a bit overwhelming, but they do a good job breaking it down and helping you prioritize what to focus on. A module I found very useful was about optimizing one's daily schedule to reduce distractions and actually getting work done. Something I'm still struggling with, but the tips in the video are helping.
Now adding to the list of resources, GovTech has the weekly live events, guest speaker live events, the video lessons, labs, articles, and the community group chat, it is clear that GovTech is doing lot for it's students, including myself, increasing their chances to succeed.
