I used to love this place purely for the spa area. I would go in the evening and almost always be alone swimming, which was well worth the money, However recently the pool has been packed everytime (usually with people dicking about) and I've not been able to swim. The gym is small, usually very busy and no induction was offered to me when I started so I've forgotten how to use some of the machines and I'm too embarrassed to ask. Most of the staff are lovely though there is one lady who I've had a few rude interactions with. Not really worth the money anymore and I'll be looking for somewhere else to try out once the contract ends.

Congleton Gymetc. Good facilities, great classes and most staff seem OK though not necessarily always friendly. What it does need is a really good cleaning though, especially the pool, changing rooms and showers, though it wouldn't do any harm to brush and mop studio more often either. The walls above the water line in pool look disgusting like not been cleaned for ling time. Many repairs also required broken locks, broken shelves in cubicles

Asked to pay to use the leyland gym when I am a member of a gym attached to this. Ridiculous and unfair! Told I could use all gyms for a number of times. Now that I am let down they won’t cancel my membership free or charge! UNFAIR

Reneged promise of using other gyms.

Got told when signing up I could use the Leyland gym up to 30 times a year as I am a member of another nearby gym. Went in today and was told that someone else had been abusing it so they've stopped everyone being able to use it.
It's not my issue that you can't keep track of how many times other gym members have used your gym.

Looking to cancel because of this broken promise.

I have been a member of the Leyland Gym etc on and off for a few years. I have to say the place is looking tired with limited obvious investment. The changing rooms and shower facilities are less than ideal, and perhaps not as clean as they should be. I decided to cancel my £36 a month membership on the 3rd April, I assumed that given the months notice I would be charged a pro rata rate for the first three days of May to complete the full month. They have stated I have to pay the full amount for May, therefore rather than a month's notice period I am paying for 58 days notice. I suspect I will have to pay this amount, however, they are short sighted about this as I feel it is grossly unfair to make someone pay for a full additional month when they have almost been provided with a full month's notice anyway. One thing is for sure I will not return to this gym in future given this stance.

This is an awful place. Has is ever been cleaned? Not in the 12 years it’s been open. Nasty bullying men who initimate people and decide machines are theirs only. Changing room is like a womens meeting and you actually get sneered at for getting changed while they are waiting for their kids to finish lessons. Imagine getting changed in a changing room. Management silly kids who have no idea and are pals with the bully boys. Classes open to their buddies first so you can never get a spot. Kids allowed in jacuzzi and if you say anything they tell you you imagined it.

Great gym in congleton I use every so often and staff are very helpful.

Have now asked staff 8 times to fix a "system error" that keeps resulting in me not being allowed in through the automatic barrier. Keep getting variations of "The manager will sort it and it'll be fine the next time you come in". Every time I come in I have to wait for staff to look at the screen, tell me they can't do anything and then let me in.

No direct phone line to actually speak to said manager in any of their gyms, I've written down my number for a callback and used an online form. Guess what - I'm yet to receive a callback or have the issue resolved 🤷‍♂️

Wished i hadnt rushed into membership without looking at the reviews, as my experience was worse than the reviews! Please take a look and read them all-as they are all true accounts of this ruthless gym once they get you to sign...6% Excellent(Must be staff reviews , forced to make up)--6% Poor and 88% BAD,..that is ASTONISHING, DONT DO IT AT YOUR PERIL THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHERS.

Absolutely worst company ever , after explaining my circumstances and the fact the gym wasn’t open when I finish work with my new shift patterns they still refused to cancel my membership. I explained that it will put me into financial difficulties paying a gym membership that was being used along side the one I can use they still refused to help me !

Very cramped gym made even worse since they added the park. Machinery is poorly maintained and cramped together.
Covid safety was questionable during 2021.
Can’t wait to leave this gym.

Repetitive classes with a lack of variety, morning typically consist only of pilattes classes. I turned up for 3 classes ..but the instructors DIDN'T. Classes run over or under but nobody let's you know ..so your left hovering not knowing If the class has begun or has ended. Its also turned into a man's gym it seems as though its become very female "unfriendly" ...

This place is a absolute joke , I wanted a day pass which in the end I had to pay 15 pound yes 15 pound the Muppet behind the counter would not let me in without photo identification even tho I was with my friend who been there for some years to vouch for me saying I could destroy the equipment, what I'm nearly 50 years old. I spoke to another person behind the counter she let me in after she took a copy of my bank card. Please do not attend this gym in stalybridge RIP off weights and machines are rubbish, only good thing going for it is the women who go in there.AVOID

Is this a scam?!

I just received an email from this organisation saying "thanks for signing up to Congleton Gymetc" and telling me I've committed to an adult membership and paid 10 pounds for a one day pass. I have never heard of this place and am not even in the UK right now, let alone Congleton!!!!

I tried to call the number on their website, but it just takes you to an automated service that describes the business and then hangs up.

I don't want to reply to the email as I am afraid it is a scam. I am certainly not going to click on the membership link.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I'm hoping that someone reads this, today my daughter and my 8 year old grandson noah who went to gymetc congleton cheshire.
They went swimming, the problem started when noah went into the hot tub, no signs visible, on going back to the changing room she was confronted by a very angry manager that thought she had the right to shout and scream, poor noah who is autistic,she was on a complete power trip, it got that bad my daughter started recording her, wow how the mighty fall, didn't want to be seen on camera you can not have a manager acting unprofessional, what a vile women you employ, her words I have the power to ban you, also she expects a 8 year old who's autistic to use the mens changing rooms, needs training on how to behave around customers and children, she's a complete bully and needs sacking.
