On 30 th April we booked a first class…
On 30 th April we booked a first class train from Pontefract to Inverness combined with a 3 night stay in a hotel with the intention of visiting my twin sister in hospital.
We chose Hays travel because as we are in our 80 s and since it was a Bank Holiday they could help us with the combined booking.
We were then told by the hospital consultant on May2 nd that we should cancel the booking as my sister would be most likely be sent home, a journey of 2.5 w hours and no good to us without transport.
We immediately cancelled our booking with Hays who arranged it with Hotel Direct only to be told that we could not get any of our £1,745.22 refunded.
What can Hays Travel do to help us ?

Thank you for taking the time to have a chat yesterday regarding your cancelled booking, Unfortunately due to the booking being cancelled 5 days prior to travel, cancellation charges apply. I did contact the tour operator again however, the charges still stand.
I am so sorry I couldn’t get a better outcome for you.
