In 1920, Henig Furs opened in New York City. Max Henig emigrated from Romania three years earlier and brought to Americas his expertise in fur manufacturing, a skill he learned from his father in Europe. Max sewed every fur by hand, a traditional passed down to his son, John Henig Sr., who joined the family business. During World War II, John was stationed in Fort Benning, Ga., where he met and fell in love with a young lady from Florala, Alabama. She preferred to be near her Southern roots, so rather than bring his new wife north; John decided to bring his father’s fur trade South and opened the fur department at Montgomery Fair. This began what would become the largest fur company in the Southeast and one of the biggest in the nation. In 1950, the Henig label made its debut at Miller’s Fashion Specialty stores and was also associated with Danziger’s. Additionally, John traveled the Southeast unveiling the latest furs at trunk shows. In 1977, his son Mike, the fourth generation of Henig furriers, became a partner, and the two expanded the business through wholesale manufacturing and leased departments in stores across the country. They also began opening their own stores and today have more than 30 locations throughout the Southeast, including salons in Belk’s department stores where there is continued expansion. From fashionable Mink, Beaver and Fox, to the finest Canadian Lynx, Chinchilla and Russian Sable, Henig offers a wide selection. The 32,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Montgomery is where Henig maintains its main showroom and vault. The company has also adapted to the preferences of modern customers. The business of selling furs, once considered a luxury item, has expanded to include casual furs, leather, cashmere and outerwear that appeal to juniors, misses, men and even children. Advertising, online shopping at henigfurs.com, fur factories all over the world, and the addition of two to four locations each year have made Henig a household name. However, this tremendously successful company is still family owned and operates on its founding principles of quality, selection and customer service. Mike and his wife Jenny Lynn’s three children have always been involved in the family business, with his son, Michael Henig, Jr., and son-in-law, Colin Jones, serving as President of Operations, which continues Henig Furs Inc. as a family business for five generations.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed! The fur coat I bought doesn’t look real at all. I ordered ranch. You sent me black. I bought hats and they were fine. To put icing on the cake, you had a plastic tie around the neck,stating if I remove it I can’t return it. How do you think we can try it on with out removing that tie! Crazy!! I will be returning it!!

We're very sorry to hear that you're not happy with the fur you received. We don't sell faux fur, so you received a real, genuine fur. And, you can try on the fur with the serial number tag attached, we've tested this on multiple furs (the only legitimate issue with the serial number tag is that it prevents customers from wearing the fur and then returning it).
If you ordered the ranch, that is black mink fur, wo you received the color you ordered. What color were you expecting?
We'll be happy to process an exchange or return for you. You may use the included fedex return shipping label to send the fur back to us. Please fill out and include the return form, letting us know what you'd like to do, and we'll process it once it arrives. Let us know if you have any questions.

5 day return policy for small things... really?
I was alarmed that your company had only a 5 day return policy especially since most every other business is usually 30 days. My purchase was a $45.00 pair of leather gloves on sale that was received after Christmas and as you know, many people travel during those holidays and don't return until after the 1st of the year. I have never dealt with a company who has such a short return policy! I can certainly understand not having that long a time for a $10,000 mink coat, but for a pair of unused $45 leather gloves. When I showed up to return the "too small" and unused gloves on 1/9/26, I was told that the 5 day return policy has passed and it would only allow a store credit for the return of the gloves. There was nothing in that store for less than$100 and that was for a rabbit key chain!!!
Needless to say, I took my gloves back and I will not darken your doorway ever again for such poor customer service! I'd rather give the gloves away than to get a store credit that I will never use!
If I could give your company a negative star reading, I would have don't that here, but it is not allowed!

We sometimes allow customers to exchange if they are outside the return window, but we recommend using the included FedEx return shipping label to send online exchanges/returns to our main office (for orders placed on our website). Again, we're sorry to hear that you're not happy with your experience, and we were happy to offer for you to exchange the gloves. But, we were unable to issue a refund since your order was outside our return window.

The coat is actually beautiful and for that price u can’t beat it. Customer service was great because I actually ordered a medium coat by mistake and the switched it out for a large. The weather as been so cold here and I am looking forward to wearing it . 😊
