Disappointing experience (sawsan) staff member after 22 years as a customer
I have been using Foley’s Life Pharmacy in Ballyowen, Lucan, for approximately 22 years. During this time, I have generally had very positive experiences with the pharmacy and its staff, which is why my recent experience was particularly disappointing.
On 2 September 2026 at approximately 20:47 (8:47 pm), I went to collect prescriptions that I had ordered almost two weeks earlier. I am a patient and rely on my regular medication, so collecting my prescriptions is important to me. I arrived approximately 13 minutes before the advertised closing time of 9:00 pm.
The staff member serving me, Sawsan, told me that the computer system had already been shut down and that I should have arrived earlier. I understand that staff have procedures to follow and need time to close, but I was surprised that I could not collect my medication when I arrived before the advertised 9:00 pm closing time. If prescription collections have an earlier cut-off, I believe this should be clearly communicated to customers.
Unfortunately, the interaction then became quite uncomfortable. While I was writing down the names required for the prescriptions, using a marker, Sawsan spoke to me in a raised and abrupt manner, asking why I was writing with a marker and telling me to use a ballpoint pen because she could not read what I had written.
I understand that staff may need information written in a particular way, and I would have been perfectly happy to use another pen if this had simply been explained to me politely. However, I felt that the manner and tone used towards me were unnecessarily harsh.
The situation became more disappointing when Sawsan left the counter and told me that she was not serving me. As a long-standing customer and a patient who had come to collect necessary medication, I found this very upsetting.
Thankfully, Sharon intervened and assisted me. I have known Sharon for many years, and she has always been exceptionally professional, polite, courteous and helpful towards me. She handled the situation calmly and helped ensure that I could receive the assistance I needed. I have always found Sharon to be an excellent member of staff, and her professionalism on this occasion was greatly appreciated.
I also want to make clear that my comments are not intended as a criticism of the pharmacy as a whole. Over approximately 22 years, I have found the majority of the staff and pharmacists at Foley’s Life Pharmacy to be extremely courteous, welcoming, professional and helpful. The pharmacists and staff who prepare and provide my prescriptions have generally treated me with great respect.
My concern is specifically about my repeated experience with Sawsan. On previous occasions, I have also found her manner towards other customers to be rushed and lacking in courtesy, and unfortunately I have felt uncomfortable with her attitude more than once.
I am sharing this review because I believe patients and customers should be treated with patience, courtesy and respect, particularly when they are collecting essential medication. I hope this feedback will be taken constructively and that future interactions can be handled in a more respectful and understanding manner.
After 22 years as a customer, I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience and that I can continue to have the positive experiences I have had with the other wonderful members of the Foley’s Life Pharmacy team lucan Ballyowen castle shopping center.

I have used this pharmacy for the past while for my regular prescriptions.
Customer service is very poor and there is little interaction with the public.
We’ve had to go back to them a few times because orders weren’t filled properly. They also charge for items when the full dispensed items aren’t available.
They do not answer their phone at any time, even though they advertise the number.
Overall I will be moving to a new pharmacy once my prescriptions on file are finished.

I placed my order and it was delivered to my Pharmacy of choice promptly . You could consider sending an email to let me know it has been delivered

Thank heavens I use another pharmacy because my first (and last) experience with Life Pharmacy Waterford in Lisduggan was disgusting. Arrogant, rude, unfriendly and unprofessional pharmacist (I don't think it is the main pharmacist though). I would warn anyone and everyone to avoid avoid avoid!!

Company Staff always willing to help when we have a problem, especially medicines.
