Loxone is a terrible and overpriced system that doesn't work properly

I’ve had a very negative experience with the Loxone Gold Partner in Iceland, local.is, which sells the Loxone heating control system. I bought the system from them at a very high price, but quickly discovered that I couldn’t turn it on unless I was physically at home. They initially said they would come and fix the issue, but then wanted to charge an additional 200,000 ISK. For comparison, a brand-new system from heitirpottar.is costs 170,000 ISK.

What made things worse was that the system still didn’t work afterwards — it was still impossible to turn it on unless you were near it. When I complained that the issue remained unresolved, they shut the entire system off. This is especially serious, as tampering with my setup at home without consent could be considered a violation of privacy laws.

After this extortion, they have refused to respond or provide any maintenance for the system. I strongly recommend that people not do business with this company. Instead, buy a different system than Loxone. If you are looking to set up a smart home, there are many better and more affordable systems to use than Loxone.

Bedankt voor uw feedback en dat u de tijd heeft genomen om uw ervaring met ons te delen. Het spijt ons te horen dat u niet helemaal tevreden bent over uw aankoop. We willen graag enkele punten verduidelijken, zodat we misverstanden in de toekomst kunnen voorkomen.

Onze producten, zoals de intercom, maken deel uit van een volledige Loxone-installatie en werken in combinatie met het brein van het systeem: de Loxone Miniserver. Daarom raden we altijd aan om samen te werken met een officiële Loxone Partner. Onze Partners hebben uitgebreide kennis van onze producten en kunnen u volledig begeleiden bij de aanschaf en installatie, zodat alles perfect op elkaar is afgestemd. Dit voorkomt situaties waarbij essentiële onderdelen mogelijk over het hoofd worden gezien.

Wat betreft de retourkosten: deze staan vermeld in onze algemene voorwaarden en zijn inderdaad voor rekening van de klant. Dit geldt ook voor de kosten die Paypal in sommige gevallen rekent. Voor andere betaalopties, zoals met een kredietkaart, worden dergelijke extra kosten niet in rekening gebracht.

Wij hopen dat deze uitleg meer helderheid biedt. Mocht u nog vragen of verdere feedback hebben, neem dan gerust contact op met ons team. We willen er alles aan doen om onze dienstverlening te blijven verbeteren.

**Disappointing Performance and…

**Disappointing Performance and Unjustifiable Costs**

I’ve been using the Loxone system for a while now, and frankly, it has been more frustrating than helpful. The biggest issue is how **slow the system connect to the server** to commands. Every time you open the app, whether it’s for turning on the lights, opening a gate, adjusting the thermostat, or even controlling the blinds, there’s often a noticeable delay. It’s not uncommon to find myself waiting several seconds, sometimes up to a minute, for the system to respond. This might not sound like much, but when you’re used to other smart home systems that are nearly instantaneous, it feels like you’ve stepped back in time.

This lack of reliability makes the whole experience frustrating—especially when I just want things to work smoothly, as you would expect from a high-end smart home system.

On top of that, the system is unnecessarily **complicated to set up and modify**. Unless you stick with the same subcontractor who installed it, good luck making any changes. If you decide to switch providers or update the system, you’re going to face **extreme costs**. The way Loxone locks you into working with specific subcontractors is a major financial burden. The system is expensive enough on its own, but the moment you try to change anything or hire someone else to handle updates or repairs, the prices skyrocket. It feels like they’ve built a system that traps you into their ecosystem with no flexibility.

To make matters worse, Loxone doesn’t offer much in terms of intuitive support or easy self-management for users. Every tweak or adjustment has to go through their network of installers, making what should be a smart, convenient home system a constant source of **inconvenience**.

For the price you pay, both initially and in ongoing support costs, this system should perform flawlessly. Instead, it’s sluggish, over-complicated, and incredibly **expensive to maintain** if you ever want to change or upgrade anything. There are better, more responsive, and more user-friendly systems available at a fraction of the cost. Save yourself the headache and avoid Loxone.

Vendeur ne respectant pas la loi

Vendeur hors la loi, qui refuse le délai de rétractation de 14 jours obligatoire dans l'UE que le produit soit déballé ou non. Matériel commandé suite à demande si ça pouvais sonoriser des escape game, ce qui n'est pas possible car ça ne peu pas jouer plusieurs son en même temps sur la même enseinte, sauf s'il y a juste une simple musique sans trigger d'effets sonores !
Je cite le support : "Comme indiqué par téléphone, nous ne sommes pas en mesure de reprendre des équipements déballés (sans considération de date, car votre demande est antérieure aux 14jours), cela est stipulé au moment du passage de commande. "
Ce qui est totallement illégal. Plus de 1000€ de commande, heureusement la banque nous propose un chargeback au vue de l'illégalité de la clause de retour.

EDIT après réponse : Retour accepté exceptionellement ? ok merci mais c'est la loi, donc ça n'as pas à être par bonne volonté ou autre car de toute façon nous aurions fait un chargeback.
L'article 16, point (i) : Ce n'est PAS du tout un logiciel ou audio video (sous entendu sur support DVD / usb ou à télécharger) commandé mais du matériel soit un miniserver + audioserver + alim 24V, donc il n'est pas dans les exceptions à la loi.
Je retirerai mon avis quand vos conditions seront en accord avec la loi.

Nous comprenons votre déception et tenons à vous expliquer notre politique en matière de retours.

Nos produits Loxone contiennent des logiciels informatiques essentiels à leur fonctionnement, intégrés directement dans les dispositifs que nous proposons. Selon la législation en vigueur, notamment la Directive 2011/83/UE du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 25 octobre 2011 relative aux droits des consommateurs, nous avons le droit de refuser les retours pour les produits dont l'emballage a été ouvert, car cela peut impliquer une utilisation ou un accès au logiciel.

L'article 16, point (i), de cette directive précise en effet que le droit de rétractation ne s'applique pas aux enregistrements audio, vidéo ou logiciels informatiques lorsque leur emballage a été descellé par le consommateur après la livraison.

C’est pour cette raison que nos Conditions Générales de Vente (CGV) stipulent que nous ne pouvons pas accepter le retour de produits dont l’emballage a été ouvert. Cette politique vise à garantir l'intégrité et la sécurité des logiciels intégrés à nos produits. D’ailleurs, plusieurs escape games sont déjà équipés en Loxone grâce au bon dimensionnement du matériel, démontrant ainsi l’efficacité et la fiabilité de nos solutions.

Pour rappel, afin de mieux vous orienter dans votre projet, nos équipes ont tenté de vous joindre par téléphone, puis par mail. Vous avez répondu à ces derniers que votre commande a été passée dans l'urgence. Toutefois, au-delà des considérations légales, votre cas a été discuté en interne avant votre commentaire, et il a été conclu qu'exceptionnellement, nous procéderons au retour de vos équipements par bonne volonté.
