My dog was very sick last night and I tried to contact another vet service but they weren't interested in helping so contacted moorview at 10:30pm as i suspected my dog was dying in front of me. She was seen at 11:30 by the vet Nanette who confirmed my dog was very poorly and diagnosed her with pyometra and to prepare for the worst. Obviously I was expecting a Bill as the dog needed admission urgently and I was worried how id pay for it. Nanette was absolutely fantastic with me and her main priority was getting my dog urgent treatment and we could sort the cost out the next day, I agreed to pay half and deal with the rest the following day.I was an emotional mess having to leave my dog alone with the vet team, I was reassured that she would be well cared for and told to ring any time or they would ring me if any changes
Next morning I rang to be advised she had made it through the night and then later the vet rang to update me that my dog could go home and return at 1130pm that night and that she needs follow up treatment at our own vet in a weeks time. I contacted my own vet who were already aware of what had happened as the paperwork was sent first thing which was fantastic.
Ive returned tonight to see Nanette again who was again fantastic, I am so grateful for the team for saving my dogs life and looking after an emotional me! I never felt like it was all money driven decisions it was all about the best treatment for my dog. Thank you so much! Lesson learned get female dogs spayed

Rabbit owners please be careful

I am writing this to warn other rabbit owners: please think twice before bringing your pet here for emergency care.

​I rang Moorview first thing on a Saturday morning and described my rabbit’s symptoms. I was told to bring her in ASAP. Upon arrival, I requested urgent diagnostics to find out what was wrong. The vet informed me they couldn't perform them as they didn't have a specialist on-site, but said they would refer me to Robson & Prescott, assuring me a specialist there would be able to help. I explicitly asked for confirmation several times, and the vet verbally promised me that the necessary diagnostics would happen that same day at the referral practice.

​This turned out to be false.

​When I arrived at the second practice, the vet there didn't even know why I had been sent. I was told several times that ‘there is no rabbit specialist available over the weekend.’ My very ill rabbit was left without urgent diagnostics or the promised treatment. I spent my final hours with her desperately ringing other practices myself, trying to find the help I was told I already had. Tragically, my rabbit, Peanut, passed away later that day.

​When I complained, the practice was defensive and cold. I eventually went through the Veterinary Client Mediation Service (VCMS). Moorview offered me a small refund - which didn't even cover my costs at their own practice - but only on the condition that I sign an agreement never to speak about this publicly without their consent.

​I refused the refund. My rabbit's life and the truth of what happened are worth more than a 'hush money' settlement.

​Pet owners should be aware that while this practice lists a rabbit specialist, they are only available twice a week. Do not rely on them for emergency exotic care or accurate referral information. I was left heartbroken and isolated by their mistakes, and Peanut deserved so much better.

They dont call you back after they've got your money

My little Rolo was referred here for a CT Scan, they booked him immediately, since you know - MONEY

arrived 15mins prior to the given appointment time, had to wait an hour for him to be taken in - had to pay immediately for the estimated half of the cost of treatment.

CT scan (estimated £1500, total came to over £2500) paid that, on our debit cards (important for later). Told us it would take 7-10 for results - weird, could they not do the scan then check them immediately? anyway, you wait the 7-10 days, call for results on the 10th day. Told someone will call you back, call again the next day "oh they tried to call you"...erm no they didn't. You have 2 numbers for us, you called us fine to book in the CT scan - no missed calls or VMS. Took 4-5 calls to finally get a call back, told can do a biopsy to treat the lumps found - not once told the lumps will kill him within a few weeks. And when we came to collect him at the given time after his CT scan, had to wait 45mins to an hour for him to be picked up.

So we think about it, call back to request a biopsy, booked in for next day since y'know MONEY. Arrive 15mins before given app time, made to wait an hour til he's taken in. Biopsy is done, told to pick him up at 4pm. Arrive at 4pm, then we wait for over an hour to collect him, told we'll get results in 7-10 days. Surprisingly, we have to wait 10 days - call for an update, "oh they'll call you back" this goes on for another few days, again they had 2 numbers for us, no missed calls or voicemails. Eventually get a call back to say he's got 2 lumps but no once is it explained he will die without radiation treatment and will need a referral to Edinburgh. I was not told he would die within weeks if no treatment so we waited, thinking he had time. Called to ask for a referral, got a covering vet who spoke to me like i was an inconvenience - but then we weren't going to them for more treatment so no more money for them. That vet said they'd send the referral but that radiation referrals were not urgent so we expected to wait for a call. Our dog got worse we called Moorview asking for a call back for more help while waiting for the referral. They didnt call back or care about us, I think it's because we didnt dress our wage. I honestly think if we, my partner and I, dressed our wages (both WFH but both in tech roles, in the £100k club, both more than willing to pay anything to help our dog) they'd have been more proactive in helping our dog.

anyway, after a week, we had to go to our registered vet because moorview were ignoring our calls for help. Our vet called Moorview and they said they wont help as our dog had been referred to Edinburgh, Edinburgh did then call to book him in but also mentioned they hadn't received the referral the previous week.

So moorview refused to help us as they said they'd referred us on, but in actual fact they hadn't. Our scheduled phone consultation with Edinburgh had to pushed back because Moorview didnt send them the CT scans either. We got our pet booked in for radiation treatment a few days later by Edinburgh who confirmed time was of the essence, even though the Moorview vet who didnt send the referral said it was urgent.

At this point it was too late, our dog went for treatment, he died. The lump grew too big, maybe, JUST MAYBE, if we had his results when they said they'd give them, if they gave us the options, if they explained how he was going to die soon without urgent care, and not made to wait WEEKS he might still be alive.

Oh and they dont care about GDPR - if the nurses know recognise you as a mutual friend, they'll message your mutual friend to let them know your dog is dying.

Moorview can’t even be bothered to get back to their customers …

Called Northumberland park to arrange for my two dogs to have their claws trimmed. I was told the receptionist that they would need sedation as they are nervy dogs and hate have their claws done. I was told that because they had not seen the vet for a while she ( the receptionist would have to speak to one of her vets , and get back to me that was last Thursday , it is now Monday . Disgraceful

First and last visit moorview Northumberland park

First and last visit to moorview Northumberland park, tried this vets after moving back to the area and remembering 10 years ago it had a good reputation, went to this vets with my dog got charged £60 for consultation plus medication, told they wanted see her again 5 weeks later to make sure she was improving, 5 weeks later returned for follow up appointment where the vet signed my dog off as she was improving, only to go back into reception to be told I had to pay another £59.50 as it was a re-examination. Never in my life have i had a follow up appointment be called a re-examination and charged for it.

Learn from our mistakes!

Think twice before you buy the Vaccines for Life offer. My mother bought it for her two cats, but then unfortunately got cancer and passed away. Moorview then refused to honour it and when I asked if that meant it was vaccines for the owner's life rather than the pet's, I was told "pretty much".

On top of that, when I brought her two cats in for blood tests while my mother was ill, they needed six vials of blood. Instead of sticking the cat one time and filling six vials, they stuck him six times. The other cat hissed at the vet so they said they couldn't do her blood test. Then they tried to charge me for vaccines under the aforementioned Vaccines for Life programme. I had to back in to get them refunded.

In a nutshell, stay away. There are much better options.

Absolutely pathetic practice

We decided to rebook for both dogs instead of taking them at different times. They then rang with the same problem, saying only one dogs procedure could be done on the day. Truly awful service

Careless, unprofessional service

I pay for a 6 month prescription for medication for my dog Buddy.Last year I paid and found out it expired after 2 months.A lot of telephoning to sort out.Yesterday I went online to order his meds,and found the same thing had happened.A member of their team said it was because he was due a check up.I then asked if his prescription would be updated to a 6 month one and was told I might have to pay for a new one.Poor service and communication.

Avoid I only wish we had

Avoid I only wish we had! Originally visited when Johnathan owned the practice he was a great vet, how things have changed. We recently visited with our little Dog Teddy Bear who was PTS having read the reviews on scans and care I only wish I’d read them before trusting them. We opted not to bring Teddy out of anaesthetic so we’re not at the vets to pay our bill we arranged to pay in full on collecting her ashes. 2 days later the torment began (despite never receiving a bill) we received phone calls which they could see upset us it was 2 days later but still they persisted leaving voice mails, emails even threatening to cremate Teddy communally so we couldn’t get her ashes back. I rang the practice manager Kay who was the sender of the emails, to explain that I hadn’t even received a bill. She emailed a bill which we went immediately to pay in cash to her in person. We then discovered that Teddy hadn’t been sent for cremation she was shoved in their freezer. I have now emailed Moorview twice to ask for the return of Teddies ashes the service we paid them and they have to date refused to reply. We are not only heartbroken by the loss of our beautiful little Teddy we doubt we will ever get her ashes back. Overall Moorview vets Kay and Linda have traumatised us at the worst time. They have contributed and worsened our grief. Do not go to Moorview read the reviews, your pet deserves better. Not to be confused with Moorview Referals who are wonderful vets and not the same company

COULDN'T FIND CATS OVARIES/UTERUS?!?

TOOK MY CAT TO GET FIXED. WENT TO GET HER AFTER PROCEDURE AND WAS TOLD THEY “COULD NOT FIND HER OVERIES OR UTERUS????” SO OUR GIRL CAME HOME WITH TONS OF SCARS BUT NOT FIXED! THIS IS CRAZY. BEST PART WAS WE WERR STILL CHARGED FOR EVERYTHING!! UNREAL!! DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR FURBABIES. NOT GOOD!

Do not use this unsympathetic money grabbing vets

The start of my nightmare was when I took my cat for an eye condition that wouldnt heal, the vet (who was supposed to be the best eye vet to the stars) said my cat hadnt cancer in her eye, he took a swab etc but kept saying no its an infection we wont even send the cells away to get looked at. After an operation costing over 900 pounds, and three folllow up appointments it was getting worse , was told to put drops in etc etc etc. His retort at the condition getting worse was, Im not even going to send the test away it definately isnt cancer. After over 4 months he sent it away and rang me saying it was cancer!!! my cat suffered massively in this time! so much for the wonderful vet! in the last three months ive had to have two of my precious pets put to sleep there, both my dogs. On the 23rd of november my dog had a collapse due to heart failure and we took him up out of hours 5.45 on a saturday night as my vet was not open. The vet I saw who was a youngish girl was very very unsympathetic,and totally rushed us when my precious boy was having to be put to sleep. not empathic at all. it was a disgrace she shouldnt be a veterinary surgeon, obviously is so cold hearted , we must have spent maximum two mins with my boy when she was back in asking if we needed more time with him. we came away with a paid bill of over 360 pounds. and they did not even give him a sedative before being put to sleep. With both my boys they said they would ring when they had got their ashes back, we emailed and rang, they never did we hd to ring them, to be told yes they are back so goodness knows how long they were sat in the vets prior to our phonecall !! totally unprofessional and uncaring If you love your animals as much as we did please do not take them to this vets, im only pleased I never have to go back again. Just terrible terrible experiences.

Always great service from Moorview

Always great service from Moorview Vets. Lottie had her annual Vet check, vaccination and kennel cough at the Ashington branch yesterday 5 August. Lovely kind vet who treated us very well.
For a variety of reasons we have been seen at 5 different Moorview sites over the last 6 years and I would confidently say I have never had a complaint or concern about any member of staff. We'll done Moorview 5 stars from me.

Someone took 2 young bantams into…

Someone took 2 young bantams into moorview Backworth last night. The vets said they’d prob have to put them down if no rescue space came up. Fair enough
Except they didn’t
They dumped them back where they came from as is their policy with a wild animal.
A domesticated animal that’s a sitting duck for fox bait you mean. Absolutely appalled. To save money ???
We have caught 1 who will go to fresh start for hens. The other is terrified and hiding so will probably die.
Thanks for nothing moorview
No wonder your rating is so dire !!!

Fantastic people, truly care about animals

Clinical Director Chris Green was absolutely fantastic! From the moment they received our referral from our misdiagnosing vets, Moorview contacted me and saw us straightaway. Chris Green took charge and did tests on my cat under anaesthetic that day, and found the problem. We had to wait for lab results, but soon afterwards the operation went well, with a few follow-up appointments. Throughout, all the staff were kind and went above and beyond, especially when my cat refused his antibiotics and I had to ring in the middle of the night, several times. They really care about animals. I am very grateful to Chris and the whole team. Moorview is open 24/7 and I highly recommend them.

Be careful they will rip you off

Was quoted between £505 and £655 for an ultrasound procedure principally to determine whether our dog had a tumour. Our vet had quoted a fixed price but couldn’t do it quickly. Upon arrival there was a requirement to pay half of £655 in advance, suggesting a final charge at the higher end of the estimate. The final bill was not between the two figures quoted but £701 which the nurse was unable to explain, but undertook to get a manager to call us the following day. No call was received and on contacting them was told that no managers were available and wouldn't be until the following week. Some weak excuse was given by Matt an officious and rude member of the reception staff about the dog requiring extra sedation suggesting the sedation had miscalculated in the first instance.

Emergency visit

Had to take our 5 month old Labrador pup as an emergency due to him getting his paws on some Christmas cake which contained raisins and all the bad stuff, they were amazing with him and got him seen quickly, induced vomiting and we were back home within an hour and a half of arriving, vet was lovely, informed us on all the options and risks involved and the lasses on reception were lovely and helpful! Great coffee machine too!

We had to use the emergency vets when…

We had to use the emergency vets when our puppy had puppy strangles and couldn’t breathe, both the gentleman on reception and the vet had been so helpful, patient and professional when we attended in the middle of the night. I knew my puppy was well loved and looked after when he had to stay in. Also the reception staff afterwards quickly dealt with my insurance company to get everything resolved. Did not have it so easy with vets for pets in cramlington who we attended for check ups ( do not recommend) but moorview are amazing.
