Waste of years worth of payments

We used to love this company. We've been with this company for almost 9 years. The rate and responsiveness was fantastic. We made a few claims a few years back and were really happy with the service. Almost 10 years ago we paid about 40 dollars a month. Once the company changed hands a few years ago, suddenly our rate was 100/month. It was a hike but we felt it was worth it as were both working professionals and like the peace of mind. Our fur baby turned 9 this November and now in March 2026, the rate suddenly jumped up to 165/month. This is unacceptable!! This is more insurance than my car and house combined! Its disgusting that a company would jack up costs in the time of your fur babies life when they will likely need it most after almost a decade of loyalty. What's worse it that this is the price for a dog that is in good health and no regular treatments of any kind. I can't imagine what it would cost if he did. Be forewarned, if you're thinking of taking insurance out for your dog's later years, you likely wont even be able to afford it when you need it. Shame on you PetsPlusUS!

More info needed

I sent a request for kennel reimburse as I was hospitalized for 3 days. I did exactly as they instructed me to do. My claim was put on hold because of insufficient information. It took me 5 calls before anyone could tell me something other than "I don't know what is needed." Finally I was put in touch with Candice. She was exceptional. She got to the bottom of what more was needed, making calls to receive necessary documents. Ask for Candice if you are having issues.

Beware of this company

Beware, worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with.

This company advertises through Costco, who I will be reaching out to, that rates do not increase due to pets age. However, when my dog turned 12 they increased our deductible from 300-700 due to her age which makes this policy this policy unaffordable for us as seniors. We paid in good faith for over 12 yrs only to be forced to cancel our policy. There are multiple people claiming the same experience with this company. I recommend avoiding them at all cost!

Nothing but regrets

Horrible company to deal with. Just put some money away every month and don't get hosed by them. Constantly increasing monthly premiums. In 5 years with them (and only 3 minor claims, one was denied, one reimbursed less than my monthly premium) my monthly premium has almost doubled. I appreciate that things do go up, but the latest increase was $20 a month. This is an absolute grift.

Absence of transparency or communication

Pets Plus Us has been consistently unresponsive to repeated requests for general clarification on coverage and their definition of pre‑existing conditions on my dog's new policy. Taking out this policy feels less like sound protection and more like a game of roulette - you might be covered, or you might not. A company that can’t provide clear answers doesn’t inspire confidence or deserves business.

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! Paid premiums for over 10 years and the premiums were always removed from my account on the very day required. One claim for a broken tooth requiring surgery and I first received a letter from this awful company saying it would take up to 7 weeks for a response (Bearing in mind my pet is in pain) and then was advised that the claim was not going to be honoured. Easy for Pets Plus Us to grab premium money and it appears it was easy for them to deny the claim! Tooth issue was clearly caused by trauma and not age/hygiene. As a senior on a fixed income, I feel betrayed and taken advantage of by this Pets Plus Us company. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Not worth it! The reason we get pet insurance is to help when emergencies happen and this is the treatment received... They should be ashamed of themselves.

What a waste of money

What a waste of money. They denied a claim when my dog got injured because they deemed it not an accident. I sent a reassessment claim in along with a detailed letter from my vet stating the injury was an accident. That was in December 2025, well beyond the 30 business days required for their assessment. Now they have ignored all my emails. This is not a service. Don't waste your money. Put it aside instead for later vet emergencies.

They are a scam

They are a scam. They cancelled my policy and three months later they are still taking money from my account. When I called I got nothing but an ignorant phillipino basically laughing at me. Avoid this company at all costs.

Ridiculous premium increase

Pets Plus Us increased my monthly premiums by almost 150% after paying into the policy for 12 years. This forced me to cancel my policy when I actually stared to need to use it for my aging dog. This company has no ethics. They’ll gladly take your money and then force you out when you need to use their services. I DO NOT recommend them.

Slow Response Time

Difficult to reach Quebec Representative and you have to leave a message and wait a few days to get a response. Errors with my premium and received an update that it increased from $86 to $850 per month, which was a gross error! You wait a long time to get reimbursed - 6+ weeks! There are other great providers of pet insurance - Furkin offers $20,000 annual coverage and the premiums are much lower.

SHARE MY EXPERIENCE, WARNING TO ALL DOG OWNERS

I seldom write a review for company but I think this is my responsibility to share my experience with Pet Plus us to all the Pet owners out there, I purchased the pet insurance for my dog since she was a baby, first through PC president Choice, I am very happy with them, no issue for any claim. My dog is very healthy in general. Later on Pet Plus us took over PC insurance. They offer the same coverage and it seems ok at the beginning. Until my dog get older, despite her medical claim is very minimal, the insurance premium increase by $50-60 a month, from approx. $110 to $160 monthly, and them became $217 monthly just within 2 years period. Few months ago, we received another renewal noticed said the next renewal in Nov 2025, the insurance premium will be $499.00 per month which is 130 % increase. My dog was 14.5 years old at that time and this is the time that she needs the insurance protection the most, everyone agrees the fact that this insurance company is trying to make me cancel because they know when the dog get older, there may be more claims. They also know no one is going to pay $500 per month + $500 deductable yearly + 20% co-insurance and the owner either pay the ridiculous amount or cancel the policy. I was super upset and demand for explanation from Pet Plus us, all they said was they are no longer offer PC insurance coverage and we can lower the coverage amount with slightly lower premium. I was speechless, my family pay insurance for the whole life of my dog and when she needs it the most, this company do this to us. while I was thinking what to do as the insurance renewal date was approaching, my dog suddenly get very ill and she passed away in Oct, 2025 before the renewal date. While I am grieving for the passing of my dog, I thought I don't have to deal with Pet plus us anymore but this is not the end, now I still have to deal with them for the over charge premium fee they are owing me, they deducted one month premium after my dog pass away and they agree to refund them to me, it has been more than two months since my dog's passing , they still own me the money as of today Dec 23, 2025. I have to call them every few days and push. I am so frustrated therefore I decided to write this review and warning the Pet owners out there. Be careful and make the right choice when select the Pet insurance .

No reimbursement payment and no communication!

I've been a paying client since my first dog back in 2018, so well over 6 years. Have submitted maybe one claim up until this summer, which I submitted the second claim over this time frame.
The process of submitting was never clear, had to email them, then after the submission went through, it didn't say anywhere how I was getting any payment back so after a few weeks I reached out wondering how to get my reimbursement. Then realized my file had a wrong address, so I updated it and they said they would cancel the cheque and resend it. It's been about 4 months and I still have not received any reimbursement. No emails from them or anything. My account needed a new credit card about 2 months after my reimbursement submission and I emailed them letting them know that I would update my card when they could tell me when I would get my reimbursement back. Nothing.
My account clearly has cancelled because I refuse to pay them for 4 more months after I've submitted a claim and have yet to receive any reimbursement. Horrible customer service with no updates.
Definitely will never use this insurance company again. You'd think they would treat their long term clients.

Been with this company for over 6…

Been with this company for over 6 years. While I have a breed of dog that might require more visits, this has turned out not to be the case, but here I am and have just cancelled my policy.

The payments for one dog (I have 2) is over $2400 per year for 90% reimbursement. What % you go for is neiother here nor there really. However what we forget is that now each year there is a $300 deductible (Over 6 years thats an additional 1800) on top of that they have co-pay so again something else you are absorbing beefore you get any assistance towards your dogs health costs. I have not claimed or received anywhere near that yet annual increases by far outpace inflation (improvements to drugs and research their usual excuse yet I have yet to see any benefits from this cutting edge wonderful world of veterinary improvements).

On top of this they are exceedingly slow to process (their time frame is minimum 4 weeks) due to "volume" my arse!. erhaps they should take a little out of the research fund and put towards staffing quota's.

I have canceled my policy and will go it alone. At least dealing directly with a vet there is no in-between taking their slice of the pie and just giving my pet just the crust and pertaining to be the real hero's in what they offer the public.

Shop elsewhere or save your money for your pet and use as needed.

And I have not even mentioned the appalling "My PetCloud Portal" they want us to use that does not even have my, my pets info policy numbers etc it is as though they dont want to make ANYTHING easy for the users and wont work on Safari, Google you can log in but not file a claim.

Zero star

Not a very good pet insurance trust me
You pay each month but when your dog is sick and you try to get reinbursed they will go out of their way not to pay you
All of our doctors that have treated our dog
agreed on her new health issue but Pets Plus Us says complete opposite
Very very bad stay away
Go with another company

Good luck getting paid (you won’t)

Good luck getting paid (you won’t). As another user suggested, they’ll provide reasons that don’t make sense to deny your claim. If you fight it, well, let’s say they make it near impossible. That’s their business model. STAY AWAY. Just save the money for any future expenses because you won’t come out ahead with these guys.

Terrible service from a terrible company

I’ve never dealt with a company that hides behind confusing, over-engineered wording the way this pet insurance provider does. Every claim feels like a homework assignment — pages of “legal-sounding” policy language that only they seem to understand, and somehow every sentence ends up meaning “not covered.”

I signed up expecting clear support for my pet. Instead, it feels like they’ve designed their policies to be as vague and technical as possible, so they can deny anything they want. Whenever I ask for clarification, I get a copy-and-paste paragraph that explains nothing and contradicts their own previous messages. It’s like they speak a different language.

The worst part? The reps sound friendly, but they always redirect you back to the same impossible-to-decipher policy wording. It leaves you feeling tricked — like you’re paying monthly just to be told “no” in 12 paragraphs.

If you want transparency, honesty, or even basic clarity, this is not the company for you. Save yourself the frustration and choose an insurer that actually values your time, your money, and your pet’s wellbeing.
