Excellent Customer Service by Willomena Mills at the Margate Ross Store.
This review is for Willomena Mills at the Margate Ross Store.
Her customer service is above and beyond average.
I went in the store to shop and while there I heard her give excellent customer service to all the customers who came to her.
I purposely went in her line to cash out. Every word out her mouth was professional, courtesy and friendly.
Thumbs up for Willomena👍👍👍👍👏👏

Misleading Return Advice, No Help From Corporate
I recently purchased two sets of Nautica socks at the Ross on Kirby in Houston.
When I got home and tried them on, I found that they were slippery and made my shoes squeak (probably why they were at Ross). Living 50 miles, I called ahead and was told by the person on the phone that there wouldn’t be a problem returning socks without a receipt.
I made the trip in rush hour traffic (seriously), only to be told by the manager, who confirmed that she was actually the same person I talked to on the phone, that no return could be made without the original packaging.
I replied that the socks didn’t come in a package, only a wraparound sticker and a plastic fastener.
She replied that she knew this, but considered those things to be the package. Really?!? To any sane person, those things are just trash!
I suggested that she just scan an identical item from the shelf, but she refused, saying something like there was a chance of scanning the wrong one. I knew that there were only two versions of this product, though, because I had bought one of each version!
It’s standard practice for retail stores to grab a matching product from the shelf in order to scan the UPC. Her refusal to do so seemed to be a deliberate attempt to save face and deny my reasonable request. This misleading info and poor service wasted my time and fuel.
I reached out to the corporate office, to give them a chance to make this right, but all they did was quote the return policy, which I did not run afoul of. To be more specific, the return policy does not require that the item be in its original packaging.
I will be happy to remove my poor review of Ross Stores when they issue me a refund. Until then, y’all are better off going to the competition. There’s plenty out there.

First and last time visiting Ross dress for less
You would think with the store being called Ross dress for less you would find more clothes. Very little clothes to choose from and really not worth buying. I visited the Mondawmin store and the cashiers were very unprofessional. One was even dancing behind the counter.
I think Ross finds are good but the…
I think Ross finds are good but the people they hire are not good at customer service at all. I spent 300 in Ross and my phone died right when I was calling a Lyft asked if I could buy and charger and then charge my phone the manage Destiny said no. I asked could they hold my stuff while I go get a charger she said only to end of day. I started to return the items right then but went and charged my phone and came back. When I came back she was standing in front talking to the police officer who was sitting down. Said someone at the desk would help me when all she had to do was walk her lazy self back there and just hand me myself. The other lady just got there and had to them call on the headset that it was ok. It was just the hassle of it. I know they have a lot of rude people yell and make a fuss but this was not the case and this person was really not helpful! No humanity no decency what if it was her? How would she feel? It’s like dang can you just help! She should not be any type of manager at all. This happened at the location 901 Market St in San Francisco. I spend a lot of money in that store and today I just need help and it was not there. Ross needs to do better.
Never received my gift card: Non-Responsive Customer Service
I bought a $30 gift card for a Christmas Gift on 12/19/25. As of 01/16/26 I have still not received it. I lodged a query on the Ross website. Some time later I got an AI type response tell me how to purchase a card on their website (!). I replied that this did not address my concern. No answer. I lodged another complaint on the website and pasted in my confirmation number, screenshots of the emails and receipt of purchase. I have never received an answer. This is by far the worst customer experience I have never received. I would never recommend supporting this business based on my experience.

I shop at a few locations here in the Tampa Bay Area . I have been to the countryside location in Clearwater many times and was very happy to see UNITA talking and interacting with customers. She checked me out and was very pleasant .Great customer service . All staff should be trained to greet customers and offer an excellent customer service .This is what makes businesses stand out today .
I am writing to express my concerns
I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received during my recent visit to the Ross store in Rowlett TX . This experience left me extremely dissatisfied, and I believe it is important to bring this matter to your attention.
During my visit, I was standing in a very long checkout line along with many other customers. We were all waiting patiently for our turn when two women walked up directly to one of the cashiers. They told the cashier that they needed to be checked out immediately because they were headed to the airport. Instead of directing them to the back of the line or informing them that other customers were waiting, the cashier turned around, took their items, and proceeded to check them out right away.
This decision allowed these two customers to skip an entire line of people who had been waiting much longer, myself included. It felt unfair, unprofessional, and highly inconsiderate to everyone who had been standing there following the rules. The cashier’s actions suggested that certain customers’ time was more valuable than others, and that kind of inconsistency in customer service is unacceptable.
I visit Ross because of its value and convenience, but this experience left me feeling extremely frustrated. I hope that appropriate steps are taken to ensure that all customers are treated equally and that staff are trained to handle situations like this with fairness and respect.
Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to seeing improvements during my future visits.

I had a list of 3 items I planned on buying at Ross. I asked a Security man, where is question? Even though he heard me. Nothing. I asked again. Nothing! Am I not a Customer? I told him to wake up and help Ross Customers. I went over to complain! YEKS, I will never shop Ross again! Many great Stores to Shop. Crazy Right 👍💯
Was fine at first but then got bad
Was fine at first but then got bad
I like that it has good prices but when I went to return something I was handed a piece of paper instead of cash I needed that cash to give back to my mom as she was the one who let me borrow the cash. The next time I went which was yesterday an employee got annoyed at me when I was trying to put a product back that I actually dropped but didn’t break. The look the employee gave me made me scared and I later apologized while trying not to cry in front of a bunch of people. I’ve decided for my own health and safety to either cautiously return or not return at all and go to a different place. This was a Ross in Pacifica CA advise with caution.
Buyer Beware Stainless Steel Maybe Toxic
A little over 30 days ago, I purchased a Stainless Steel Micro-Perforated Colander Strainer from the Ross Stores Inc. (Discount Store for Clothing, & Houseware) located at 5800 Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville, MD, for $5.99 plus 6% tax. After using it for the second time, I noticed that gray coloring began to peel off when I poured a hot item into it. As a 70-year-old, I have never seen color dissolve off an item, especially one labeled as stainless steel.
I returned the colander to the store along with a gray paper towel that I had used to wipe it, even though I could not find the receipt. The cashier examined the items and showed them to the lead cashier, expressing my concern. However, the lead cashier informed me that they could not accept the item for a return because I had used it. I politely responded that using the item is precisely why I purchased it, and under any circumstances, the color should not wipe off.
The lead cashier gave me a piece of paper with the 1-800 number for customer service and told me to contact them. When I called that number, I was unable to connect with anyone after pressing one for customer service. The line was filled with static, making it hard to hear.
I then went online to the Help Center to express my concern. Almost seven days later, a person named Cheyanne left a message stating that a ticket number had been created: 0456042. However, when I tried to call back using the 1800 333 -1115 provided, I encountered the same static on the line and was unable to connect with anyone.
I returned to the Help Center and re-entered my complaint, this time including the ticket number. I expressed that the customer service and turnaround time were unacceptable. Additionally, I mentioned that the fact that color was coming off the stainless steel item could pose a toxic safety risk to anyone purchasing it.
I believe that receipt or no receipt, the fact that I only used the item twice should not be a reason for them to deny me a full refund. The label on the bottom, when scanned, will undoubtedly prove that it came from their store. Nothing should be this difficult.
Poor Customer Service
They treat you like a criminal. You are required to show your receipt upon leaving the store to the security guard. You pay for your items about 10 feet from the exit where the security guard is standing. YET, there is NO merchandise between the cashier and the door. This policy seems retarded. I will NOT return.
DO NOT SHOP HERE FOR ANY REASON THEY…
DO NOT SHOP HERE FOR ANY REASON THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I was scammed by a friend and bought $450 worth of clothes and school supplies for their children when they didn't need it. I went to four stores Walmart, Ross for less, five below and dollar tree. I could tell Ross for less the time I checked, the register, the cashier, the cashier next to her and it was still in the bag I bought from them to carry the clothes. Every store except for Ross for less returned my money
I talk corporate and they gave me a store and some of the items were discontinued because I couldn't show a receipt. They are not a company for the people. I will step foot in there again and staff was so rude and unprofessional even management. I donated the credit to the salvation army. Which I now regret because even the desperate deserves better.
Terrible Experience at Ross
Terrible Experience at Ross – Sterling, VA
I had one of the worst customer service experiences ever at this Ross location. I returned a pair of shoes that I had not used, yet the assistant manager, Oprah, treated me with complete disrespect and accused me of wearing them. I politely asked her to walk with me to the shoe department to compare the condition of the returned shoes to others on the shelf — many of which were slightly dirty underneath just like the pair I returned. She flat-out refused. Not because she was too busy, but because she knew I was right and still wanted to be rude about it.
She yelled at me in front of other customers, saying the only option I had was store credit — even though I had the receipt and paid with my debit card. I have never used those shoes, and I was being honest. Instead of handling the situation with professionalism, she was confrontational and disrespectful.
I’ve shopped at Ross for years, but this was enough to make me never return to this location again. If this is how they treat honest customers, I can’t imagine how they treat actual issues. Completely unacceptable.
Ross checking receipts at the door now??
It seems there’s a new policy where you are required to show a receipt before leaving the store even though the security saw you pay for your items. It’s becoming more like Walmart. There is no legal requirement nor there is any reasonable doubt that warrants the need for this. That’s why there’s security cameras so security guards checking people in that way. It’s uncomfortable and so ghetto and I will not ever shop there again just like I don’t ever shop at Walmart either because of this . Horrible experience. If you treat people like this you will only attract the type of people you don’t want shopping there.
I had one of the most uncomfortable and…
I had one of the most uncomfortable and humiliating shopping experiences at Ross Dress for Less, and I feel like I was completely disrespected and targeted — for what reason, I honestly still don’t know.
While checking out, I used a state-issued voucher and my employee discount card, which clearly has my name on it. The cashier immediately began questioning me, then called over the store manager, who escalated the situation instead of resolving it.
The manager repeatedly questioned the voucher, saying “It says for a 3-year-old girl” — despite the bag clearly containing children’s clothing. She made three separate phone calls, and even sent a photo of the voucher to someone to verify it. She also asked me what location the person on the employee discount card worked at — which was completely inappropriate and irrelevant, especially after the card had already been verified with my name on it.
After finally getting confirmation, she handed my discount card back by placing it on the counter, not directly to me. I had already neatly folded the items and removed the hangers, but after she did a post-void, she tossed the clothes carelessly back into the bag like it meant nothing.
I stood in line for over 40 minutes, while other customers became frustrated, put items back, and walked out of the store. I even found myself apologizing to them, not because I did anything wrong, but because I truly needed the clothes. I was school shopping for my kids, and I didn’t want to walk out empty-handed after spending time picking everything out. Honestly, it felt like they were trying to get me to give up and walk away.
Coming from someone who’s been in the customer service industry for over 20 years — and even worked at Ross over two decades ago — I can confidently say that this is not how you treat people. This is not proper procedure, and this is not how good customer service is handled.
I stayed calm, I didn’t raise my voice, and I didn’t curse anyone out — even though I had every reason to be upset. But the way I was treated felt personal, unprofessional, and frankly, discriminatory.
Ross, your customers deserve better. And your team needs proper training on not only policies, but basic human decency.

How to loose a customer in 1 minute!!
Just been on your store in bakersfield. I must say bad service, and I shop a lot in your stores. We was treated like scum and I will never go into that store again.
I was visiting in Terrell
I was visiting in Terrell, Texas Ross store and I was waiting front dressing room line to try on my 2 dresses. Now, I had walked from the back dressing room because it was closed. I had been waiting at least 3-5 minutes for a room to become available. While I was waiting, an employee came up and started closing the dressing rooms that still had people in it. I told the young girl that I was waiting because I had walked from the back because it said to use the front because the back was closed. I asked her nicely to let me go ahead and use one since I had been there waiting before she even walked up to close them. She sorry you will have to walk to the back dressing room in order to try on the clothes that I had. I was not pleased about this and I did not purchase anything. I won’t shop at this Ross store again.
