No care or support for pregnant participant - AVOID
The customer service of Spartan has been so bad. I was due to take part in the London West Spartan Event race but received the exciting news I am pregnant and recommended not to take part on medical advice due to the hazards of some obstacles.
Having already bought and secured the ticket I was told I would be able to transfer the ticket by spartan - this was my only option to get any money back. Upon paying the transfer fee (£21), my friend was told they would have to pay an additional £100 to secure the ticket (which was already secured!). Understandably they weren't prepared to pay.
I've contacted the team regularly for some support around a maternity policy which most other competitive events I have attended have. I've been in touch and they have failed to refund me, offer a transfer to next year or even just to be able to do the seemingly simple step of transferring the ticket to my friend which they reassured me would be a simple process.
I really wish I had read these reviews earlier, the experiences others have had really parallel my own, and it's clear to see that customer service is not a priority for Spartan.
AVOID - you'll lose money and receive no support. Extremely disappointing.

Spartan Quality Has dipped
I used to love Spartan Races but over the years the quality has gone downhill. They scrapped what was good about their volunteer program (helping the build crew) and the second they announce the winners everyone just packs up.
This year they also did not have a photo op at the finish line. The whole festival area was a ghost town .
Is it still challenging? Yes. Does it feel great to finish one? Also yes. However, this is not something I am going to recommend to people unless they get the race for free as paying for it is not worth it anymore. I honestly hope another company makes it big and starts hosting obstacle course races so I don’t give Spartan anymore money.
Unable to assign race ticket to myself and the support won’t do anything
I was in touch in November about being unable to assign a race ticket to myself, it keeps throwing „Server error”. It hasn’t been resolved. I sent another request to Spartan support recently and not had a reply yet. The race is coming soon and we need this resolved.
Spartan Race Farce!
Competative Spartan Kids Races are a joke. The big man, Joe, doesn't care about these competative kids, race fairness, or anything but himself. I'll mark it up as greed!
With such a "low" Trustpilot score, it's obvious that there is NO Customer Service, which is evident by the lack of any Spartan.com weblink for customer service or feedback.
As for the kids Races, there are so many cheaters that run the kids courses, and the so called course "monitors", are too preoccupied with other things to even monitor the competitors, of which some intentionally cheat by bypassing obstacles completely, just to run a short penalty distance, without even attempting them, probably because they know they're not good enough to compete fairly. So often parents are running beside their children and encourage their child to continue, after failing an obstacle, without running the penalty distance. Okay, for Open Races it's not an issue, but when kids enter the supposed "2-mile Competative Races", there should be strict adherence to the rules, which there is not. In addition, some of the staff members, at the finish of the race, who document finishing orders, are just incapable of this reasonably simple process, intentionally corrupt, or just plain incompetent.
BS obstacle courses vary widely from race to race, which are often shorter than advertised, and are no real challenge for a serious competitor, just a scam to relieve parents of their hard earned money.
We'll never attend another Spartan Race (Farce).

Shocking service
Try to rebook an event due to an injury. I never heard back from them and I’ve tried to reach out ever since last August. I’m hoping someone might pick this up on here. But looking from the reviews, I doubt they will care enough to get back to me.
Always have fun at the races
Always have fun at the races. But their app is terrible bought 4 tickets (about 600$) and never received my VIRTUAL tickets. I have been trying to reach out to their customer service team for 2 weeks now to get ahold of my tickets and finally got through to what seemed like an actual person and then they said they would look into it and still haven’t gotten back to me- it’s been a week. At this point I’ll just take the refund and will probably have to stop doing these races if this is how they treat their customers. It really shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes to search for my tickets instead it’s taking weeks and the race is 2 months away. Spend a little bit of money on hiring more reps- not like the tickets are super cheap. Ours were 180$ ea before the 26% off discount…
A shameful organization with no regard for participants
So I will continue the trend of submitting a 1-star review regarding my experience. I ran in the Carolinas weekend trifecta event in November 2025. I have run several Spartan races before and always had a great experience. It had been several years since I ran my last race so I decided to invite my sister and her boyfriend for their first race (kind of a weekend family event). We ran and completed all 3 races in the weekend but did not receive our weekend Trifecta medal or appropriately sized finisher T-shirts. Why you might ask? Because they ran out of both weekend trifecta medals and finisher T-shirts. We noticed (after finishing the Super race) that volunteers were already handing out the weekend Trifecta finisher medals. So, by the time we finished our Sprint toward the end of the day, the medals had run out. We followed up with the staff at the event (wearing blue shirts, not red) and were told that all we needed to do was send an email referencing the missing items and they would be sent to us. One staff member even had a laminated card with all the Spartan contact information we needed. We were told to send the email within 10 days of the event (which we did). The reply I got from the customer service department was vastly different than what I was told by the staff at the event. First, I was told that they were unaware of any shortage of medals or t-shirts. Second, I had asked about the weekend Trifecta shirt and hoodie we were supposed to receive after signing up. I was told that in order to receive those items you have to register prior to May 31st. That information is on their website but it is at the bottom of the webpage in the fine print. We registered after this date but there was nothing during the registration process referencing this deadline. I mention this for as 'buyer beware' warning. Once customer service finally acknowledged the shortage of both the medals and shirts, they confirmed that I would be sent the items I was due but to be patient as they tried to address the backlog. They indicated it would take roughly 7-10 weeks and perhaps longer due to newly implemented tariffs. Fast forward to today and several emails and 18 weeks later, no medal and no t-shirts. I have continued to follow-up with polite, but direct, emails and have spoken to no less than 5 customer service reps. Each time I am reassured that I will receive my items and each time I wait a few more weeks with no update. I would like to point out that since the event I have ordered motorcycle parts from China TWICE that have been able to clear customs and get to my house in around 8 weeks. Their medals are sent from China as well so I would have to believe by 18 weeks they should have arrived in the U.S. Additionally, according to their online race schedule, they have hosted 3 weekend Trifecta events in 2026 already. So I ask, have all those racers not received medals either? Otherwise, they have had medals to distribute but only to those who have paid to run races in 2026, not those of us who paid to run in 2025. I am beyond fed up with this organization as they have on interest in addressing issues or taking care of racers who spend so much money to run their events. We each spent over $500 to run in this event and to date all we have received is lip service. We paid for the event, ran the event, earned the hardware and would like the items we should have received on race day. Spartan race is truly disrespectful and inconsiderate of those who spend their money with them. Their organization is abysmal and they should be embarrassed at the lack of service they're providing. As a result, I will not ever sign up for another race and I suggest you do the same!
Make sure you register with a burner mailadres.
Make sure you register with a disposable email address.
They will continue to spam you with emails, and unsubscribing simply does not help.
I deeply regret ever providing this club with my email address.
Volunteered twice
Volunteered twice. The paid staff are more worried about driving around in buggies, staying cool in the tents and being social with friends. The first time was organized and each obstacle had directions, a map of the race, change over times and water stations clearly marked to help competitors. Second time forgotten on the field. Other volunteers got BCAAs, actual day bags for full day volunteering but this time was really poor. Spending a whole day screaming at people not listening to you... Definitely not on one of the fun or encouraging obstacles so lesson learned and would not recommend volunteering. They said it's hard to get volunteers... Well when you put them on hard obstacles while the paid staff have a field day... Yeah you loose volunteers.

I would give no stars if possible
I would give no stars if possible. The support for this race is unwilling to cooperate. Basically, they'll take your money and run. Pun intended
As a veteran and loSpartan Race: Holding Money Hostage and Worthless Insuranceng-time participant…
As a veteran and long-time participant of over eight Spartan races, I am appalled by their practices. I paid $255 for an October event that they unilaterally rescheduled to November.
This sudden change conflicts directly with my work schedule, and Spartan refuses a refund, effectively holding my funds hostage. Furthermore, the event insurance they promote is a scam, offering zero coverage for scheduling changes, proving it is entirely misleading at the point of purchase.
1 star is 1 star too many
1 star is 1 star too many. Good event if you're running but laughably bad for spectators and volunteers. All sorts of false promises made about if you volly you get free race codes and refunds on camping but 8 months later and still nothing despite chasing their hopeless customer service many times. They say it will all be done within a time period of 90 to 180 days. Well 8 months on and still nothing. Awful don't bother.
Spartan race: would recommend
I did a spartan race this past summer and enjoyed it. Only complaint was the confusion and lack of direction when I was getting ready to start my race. I didn’t know where to go. Otherwise, I enjoyed the experience and am signed up for another one this upcoming summer!
