I'm a little bit disappointed with my recent renewal experience with Staveley Head, I've used them 3 times in the past without any problems, I have requested in the past, that I do not want my policy automatically renewed, I feel insurance companies take advantage of this and up the price, for some reason my policy this year, was automatically renewed, I received my renewal quote a few weeks before, which I was actually happy with because it had gone down in price from the year before (I know, I'm still in shock as well), so I thought, that's good, I'll wait until I get payed and then contact them the day before the policy is due, 8 days before it is due (their small print actually says 7 days, which I hadn't read at the time because I believed I wasn't on automatic renewal), the full amount is collected from my account (this also includes payment for breakdown cover, which is an optional extra, which I wasn't asked if I actually wanted to take out again), and putting my account into the red, when I contact Staveley Head on the Monday, due to them not working weekends and I bring this matter up with them, I am told that because they are so heavily regulated, they need to take it 7 days before, none of my other vehicle insurers have ever taken payment before my policy has started, so I'm a little dubious about this, anyway when I ask about them paying my overdraft fees, the reply is "we don't do that", this I find unacceptable, I shall be contacting their complaints department in due course, I have no problem with the telephone staff, they are doing their jobs properly, its the way the company conducts its business in the way that it does that I feel is wrong, I have given 3 stars, due to a mixture of good service in the past but they dropped the ball this time around.

Rae is No 1 with a big heart
I have been dealing with Rae for quite a few weeks due to issues getting trade insurance and she stuck with me through all of it she helped us get trade insurance explaining everything to the company what are issues were and making them understand and except us if is wasn’t for her we wouldn’t be able to get the trade insurance if anyone wants to call this company ask for Rae she is an amazing young lady and a very understanding one with a big heart which you do not come across a lot these days. No matter your issues she will help as much as she can and always keep you informed with what’s going on she never ignores your emails or your calls. This company have amazing people there they are polite and respectful but Rae she is something else. Thank you so much for everything you done for us you are an outstanding young lady with a big heart

I was involved in an accident 5th nov 24. My taxi was held at the police pound until the matter was settled at court. I paid this policy faithfully for an entire year , although the taxi was off the road. I got my renewal in at the start of October 25. My policy was increased from £1700 to a staggering ££3850. It was explained to me that until it was settled at court it was being treated as a fault accident claim , hence the massive increase. I agreed to it , while still not driving the vehicle, still at the pound. The other week, I was found not guilty , ie: aquited. I then spoke with stavely about reassessing my policy premium. I was told it would not be reduced, as there was nobody to reclaim the cost of repairs and lawyers cost. So when being told my premium would be reassessed , this was in fact not true. I have since found another insurer to take my buisseness to. I have been quoted a reasonable price of £1900. I then approachedstavelyhead, to ask for my proof of no claims, which they are only giving me 80% although I paid for protected no claims when taking my policy out. I also reluctantly agreed with this. So moving forward , I asked if I could simply cancel, ie: let this policy run out at the end of the month. They told me , if I opt for this option , I would need to pay them another£1800 approximately. How can this be even legal. I would advise anyone dealing with stavelyhead to be very , very cautious. I will never deal with, or recommend this company again. I have now been in touch with the ombudsman . Taxi driver, in Glasgow. An update since trying to sort this mess out. Stavelyhead have now told me I owe £138 instead of the £1800 they wanted last week. No apologies at all from any department. There excuse was it was a system error. I’m not accepting this. The wrong information may have put into the system to end up with there results = £1800. That’s approximately £1660 of an overpayment they were wanting. This is simply not good enough in this day and age of technology. To be honest they, should have wiped out the £138 and more so should have compensated me for all the stress , not to mention the dozens of phone calls I had to make to them. If you do read this, please be very careful with dealing with this company.
