Warren is the best!

Just moved into a house with Sunpower…

Just moved into a house with Sunpower Solar Panels and I have no idea if it's working. The system has no wifi connectivity and I cannot use the Sunpower app. I called Sunpower who sent someone out installed something, did not get activated and now they are saying they need to come back. No further follow ups from them. I agree with the rest of the reviews, they are useless and now I know why they are going bankrupt. Go bankrupt and let another company takeover as soon as possible since you and your management team are completely useless.

Just appalling customer service

Just appalling customer service. Have been waiting for weeks for a repair on the communications panel because I get no data on whether the system is even working. Received an appointment date and time...and they never showed up. And never called to cancel or update. Followed up with multiple calls to multiple representatives, each of whom says that the "case worker" will call me to follow up. Never once has a case worker called. Called today and was told "all work orders are on hold" indefinitely. This is a breach of contract case in the making.

I bought a house in October 2021 in…

I bought a house in October 2021 in Carlsbad, CA. the house was sold new in 2019 and included a Sunpower solar system that was paid for (not leased). Having owned a solar system before on a previous property, my system generated enough electricity to take care of about 90% of my electric bill. Since I moved in, the system has not worked properly. In May of 2023, I began to complain (I thought prior to that it was working but just not that efficient) only to learn that I was producing zero electricity. They have been out here at least 7 times. On the phone with customer service for HOURS. They company either comes out themselves or sends out a third party. The say they diagnosis it, but they don't. Today I have an appointment at 10 am (after they said in May of 24 they would be back in a couple weeks, waiting for the part). They haven't showed up. They haven't called me to say they were being late. I called 800-Sunpower, they say they are sorry (I hear this every time) don't know where tech is, and they expect me to wait. I am so over this HORRIBLE WORTHLESS INCOMPETENT COMPANY. They lie. The are incompetent. Time to file a lawsuit. I am very angry with Sunpower. I want the cost of installing the system that I effectively paid for returned.

Worst decision I ever made

Update: Sunpower contacted me via trustpilot wanting me to prove I am a legitimate customer. I did this on July 25. They told me they'd have someone call me within 24 hours. It's now 5pm on July 29 and nothing, just an email telling me the problem has been passed to yet another person who is conveniently out of the office. Don't deal with this company!

As far as I can tell, no one is monitoring my system. I reported a major issue 13 days ago. SunPower requested that I, the homeowner, do all the troubleshooting rather than send out a technician. It was determined that one of my inverters was down. They said they needed to get permission to send a tech out. Really?! For a malfunctioning system? I’ve heard nothing from them for five days now. They don’t respond to multiple queries regarding the status of my repair request. I don’t even know how long the inverter has been down. My electric bills began rising as soon as my system was finally installed. Every year they get higher. This system is costing me money, not saving me. I wish I’d never gone with this company! It took months and months just to get it installed. I have cracks in my walls in the rooms underneath the solar panels. Don’t waste your money. Go with better solar from companies that are located in your area and actually care about customer service and not just making a buck. I wish I’d never signed a lease with these jokers!

Worst company ever worked with damage…

Worst company ever worked with damage to my house hard to get anybody to talk to and they refuse to repair damages to my house. I would look into other companies if you’re looking for solar and watch out because Sunpower is also under a couple other names so make sure you do your research. Took them approximately three months to put up solar panels. I had to miss several days of work so I could be home so they can put them up when they told me it would only take two days.

Worst customer service

Worst customer service. We are a escrow company that has to deal with solar transfers on a daily basis and all these solar transfers do is cause delays. I just spoke to a representative on the phone named Chii, clearly she works from home, I can hear her dog barking and her TV in the background, she is sidetracked and not giving me the service we need or answering any of my questions. I asked for a supervisor 7 times and she refused to give me one. We cant get the paperwork we need from them to close escrow so here is another example of a home not closing on time due to solar delays.

I have ongoing issues with SunPower…

I have ongoing issues with SunPower replacing the non-functioning microinverters. In short, I have three panels of eighteen where the microinverters do not work. Since December of 2023, SunPower has been saying the microinverters are under supply constraints. The local dealer has told me that SunPower says they no longer make the microinverters my system has but use something called a string with 9 microinverters in the string. So I’m now 7 months with nonfunctional panels and SunPower NEVER returns calls nor follows up via email as Customer Service says they will.

Today is July 23, 2024 and I have not heard back from SunPower as they committed in their response. This is the way SunPower operates - promises and apologies then NOTHING absolutely Nothing. All buyers out there, beware when considering SunPower. SunPower will do nothing for you to honor their warranty and obligations.

Horrible technical support

The company offers excellent system for a very affordable price. However their customer support is horrific. I have a non-working panel and I’ve been fighting for month to get it replaced. It took them a month to send in a technician then two months after that it turned out that the data he has submitted was lost. They have sent a technician again and now it has been a month since and I haven’t heard from them!

Stay away from 25 year contracts

Stay away. Total scam. They quoted a contract that was going to cost more than electric and wanted a 25 year contract. The sales person got angry and stormed out when I wouldn't signed. He never even followed up. Obviously he knew it was a bad deal and I ended up getting a 3 year contract with another company with more KW for less. SunPower is a SCAM stealing from people and making many false claims that are not in the contract and ended up not being true when I researched. The rate on the SunPower contract was .19 per KW vs my Duke Power bill only at .15 per KW. With an increase per contract of 2.9% per year with a 25 year commitment.

Sunpower has the worst customer service

Sunpower has the worst customer service, and they do not return phone calls. These panels have began causing damage to my parent's roof and they stated they would come out to look at the damage and no one ever showed up, but yet they stated someone came out. When I explained no one came out, he kept saying they came out. I explained they could not get on the roof without coming into our home. Which is a lie. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are the worst!

Sunpower is cheating on the warranty repair

My solar system was installed by SunPower in October 2021. I have the micro inverter system on the 12 panels so if some panels went down, the rest panels are still working.
At beginning of June 2024, I noticed my solar system generated less power almost 40% less so I checked the app and found a message said “One or more devices are not working properly” I contacted SunPower support. They tried to diagnose remotely. One support told me 2 panels are not working. They said they will send a repair team to come but the schedule was full and I have to wait for a month. I was patient.
On the day came, Sunpower sent a guy to replace a monitoring box which the old one was doing fine. Except the new box you no longer receive any error devices messages on the app if any panels went bad. They didn’t go on the roof and replace the bad panels.
The technician confirmed that he found 2 panels are not working but he couldn’t fix it. He was told to come and replace the monitoring system only.
Sunpower is being tricky here. They don’t want to replace my panels which are under warranty. They just take away the monitor system that detects and shows the device error to customers. They think the problem will go away. This is a terrible practice.
My system is not generating at full capacity and they don’t care to replace the panels.

As of 07/16/24 I still could not get an appointment with Sunpower Support. I received a text to schedule an appointment online but kept getting an error.

As of 07/29/24
Sunpower still didn’t not respond. They said someone will contact to setup an appointment.

Sunpower Warranty Repairs are Non-Existent.

I have a 12 kW system that I lease from SunPower. It's a 20 year lease that was installed in 2016 by original owner. I assumed the lease when I purchased the property in early 2023. An inverter has been malfunctioning since May 10, 2024. I called the dealer/installer and they sent a tech out to diagnosed. It was determined that it needs a new inverter so dealer put in a work order for SunPower to approve. Took SunPower weeks to approval on June 17, 2024. It's now July 1, 2024, I just called SunPower customer service again and they don't have an ETA for when the equipment will arrive and no ETA for repairs to be scheduled to complete the work. Meanwhile, I'm stuck making my monthly lease payments every month to SunPower for a system that isn't working properly. This isn't right! RMA-00231279 and Case #03864878.

Sun Power LLC fails to complete warranty repairs

Despite being assured when we purchased the system that it would be installed within 60 days, it took Sun Power LLC a year to install a solar system with battery back up. The system functioned for approximately five months. We reported the outage on April 30, 2024 as of June 26 and one failed repair attempt the system is still not fully functional. Despite repeated request, Sun Power has been unwilling or unable to provide a time estimate for when repairs will in fact be completed.

Update as of July 10, 2024, still no progress or useful communication from Sun Power. When I called the customer service representatives, I am assured that “Charles“ the supervisor will be back to me within the hour. This is the fourth time they have promised me that, and in the three months that I’ve been dealing with this problem he has never called me. He has sent a couple of texts, although none of them within the last three weeks. Sun Power is making no reasonable effort to honor their warranty obligations and not even communicating with me about them.

SunPower is the worst company we have…

SunPower is the worst company we have ever dealt with. Our inverter for our solar panels has gone out 3 times since 2021. The most recent outage happened May 16, 2024. This was only 5 months after the inverter was just replaced. Each time it has gone out it takes many months to get a replacement inverter even though it is clearly still under warranty. They have no customer service managers that are available to help and they just keep giving us the run around. They refuse to even speak with you over the phone and just continue to send these fake canned emails full of lies. They expect you to continue to make your lease payments even though the system is not working, and they have refused to send us the performance reports and compensate us for all of the lost power when our system has been out for months on end in the past.
It has now been almost 5 weeks since our most recent outage and I am beginning to believe that it will never get repaired. We even contacted the manufacturer to find out why they won't ship a new inverter since it is still under warranty, and they told us that SunPower is on credit hold with them so they will not honor any of their orders. Do yourself a solid and if you are planning to get solar, stay as far away as you can from SunPower. They are a terrible company in all regards. They need to be completely shut down.

Great Customer Service

Our Sunpower Solar system with Sun Vault Battery became operational in January 2024. The system operates as designed and is saving money as promised. However, mySunpower Ap has been down several times during this time. Upon reporting this, I was assured that the system issue has been permanently resolved. I also had questions regarding the capacity and discharge of my battery. Mr. Naidoo explained in layman's term the operational cycle to my satisfaction. I researched 6 solar companies prior to contracting with SunPower and found them to be superior in product efficiency and quality. I am a very satisfied customer.

stay away from Sunpower

stay away from Sunpower . you will not see any power . it looks like the company is going down, they just laid off over 1000 workers . I signed a contract last year the installation was on march 18-2024 . till today the system is not turned on . customer service dont help beside answering the phone , they can't solve any problems. I wrote a bed reviews few weeks ago and Sunpower reply was that they are going to escalate my case . and nothing was done. I'm now 3.1/2 months after installation and inspection and the system is not on . at this point I request to cancel my contract So I can have another company to do the installation. Sunpower refused to cancel my contract . I just retained an attorney to file a lawsuit. Im a builder and I used another company (SunRun) and the system was active 2 weeks after inspection STAY AWAY FROM SUNPOWER

SunPower solar system broke within a year

We had SunPower istall our solar system a year ago About a moth ago we get a bill fron Edison for $2,700.00 claining that is how much we used. After checking the system I find out that the system is not performing like it should and we have two panels that are dead not working. Called customer service and they looked at the system online and said yes two panel are not working but they have to give it 24 hours before they can move it up the ladder. I called back 48 hrs later to get the same respne from them. I finaly got the sales person and explained what was happing. No phone calls just emails. We couldn't get an appointment until July for them to schedule someone to come out and troubleshoot the system. Three months to get someone out to troubleshoot. Don't go with SunPower you're be wasting your money.

SunPower is Awful

SunPower and its customer service is awful. We were required to have solar when we purchased our new build, and it has never worked properly. For the past 6 months, we’ve received info in the app that multiple panels aren’t working. SunPower scheduled a technician to come and troubleshoot, and then cancelled the appointment with no warning or efforts to reschedule. I have been on hold trying to get the appointment reset. Their customer service people are disinterested, unsympathetic and not helpful.
