Called Sunpower many times to…
Called Sunpower many times to temporarily disconnect my system since we need to upgrade our electrical panel. No response and continuous lack of response. Need to escalate this is urgent at this point. Case # 03405791.
Does anyone in this company either respond or assist. Regret getting this system. Not recommending this company.

Don't sign a contract with this company!
After many calls and emails my Inverter has still not been replaced (hasn't worked since mid 2021). I
got the same response that all other complainers have gotten on numerous complaints. It would be more honest for SunPower to go out of business because they never address the issues by actually fixing them

Run away
Although the product is presented as top tier for photovoltaic panels, SunPower products are worthless because of bad authorized installers (unadjusted unlevelled and quick job for quick money) and SunPower Italy is the worst of all: they have no power over installers and wont even take customers complaints seriously. The warranty has not been issued despite SunPower’s claim of a 25 year warranty and even to 40 years; but it’s worthless. If you get recommended SunPower, run away!

Been without solar since 01/16/2023
My two inverters failed on 01/16/2023, I called and Sunpower opened Case # 03127889 on 01/23/2023. It’s been almost 7 months since and Sunpower has not giving me a date when it will be fixed, meanwhile my electricity bill is now over $4000.00 and counting.
This is ridiculously a long time (7 months) to wait for a repair.
I am a very unhappy customer.

Update on the status of my solar systems
On 09/09/2023 a technician showed up with 2 inverters and mounted the 2 units on the wall without hooking up all the wiring. After numerous called to Sunpower they sent another technician out on 10/20/2023 with an order to hook up the system to my Wifi system? The 2 inverters is not even power up so why the technician came with an order to hook up to the WiFi for monitoring?
More calls to Sunpower, then on 11/14/2023 they send a technician to wire up the 2 inverters, the technician discovered that my system had 8 strings of wire from the solar panels (4 strings per inverter) Sunpower sent me the 2 replacement inverters with a 3 strings wire per inverter. So now I had 2 strings of wire without a connection, in another word my solar system will only produce 3/4 of its capacity.
Only 1 inverter is working now, the other still has error on it and they will have to come back and to fix it. The technician told me that I have to contact Sunpower and request another inverter for the 2 strings of wire that still not connected.
After almost a year since my SunPower solar systems was down and STILL DOWN, my electricity bill is over $6,000.00 and counting.

i compared the quote from tesla and sunpower for 7.29 kwh system, tesla is $19.2K and sunpower is $42k. This is before tax credits. Sunpower is a rip-off!

Sunpower
Sunpower, and it's installing affiliates, are terrible. I have had such a difficult time with them since they were installed. There is such a lack of communication,and customer service. My most recent issue, the power panel had a red light. I called, and associate said, "why aren't you monitoring your system on the app?". Well, I didn't know about the app. No one contacted me about an app, (email, text, letter, phone call). Anyway, I said, "well, if the light is red, customer would have to call Sunpower, right!?". Then I waited 3 days, no contact back. I call again, found out that that person never put in a service order!? Start again. New agent told me to power off the grid, and turn back on. So the light went from red, to off, nothing.
Wait another 3 days for service call. Nothing, again. I call back. Now they tell the service was approved!? I asked, for what? No one has called, or come to my home?! Then she tells me, "hopefully they will contact you within the MONTH"!!? Are you kidding me??? So with the days being so sunny, I'm not benefiting at all. No reimbursement until anniversary date. I'm so annoyed. I would never recommend this company.

In June 2022 Sunpower sent Tyler Debock. Thru the whole process it was repeated that Sunpower did not use subsidiaries or subcontractors. This turned out to be a lie. We had a price and OK'd for loan for the solar system. Then that loan was readjusted to include cost of roof replacement and hybrid water heat. Those items would be reimbursed to me upon completion of project. A secondary loan for roof and I had water heater done. Took over 4 months from roof completion to get solar installed. Then I found out that there is a subcontractor. When I requested my reimbursement, I started getting run around (they had 45 days, then it was sent wrong address, they were sending by Fed-ex, then no responses, now no subcontractor (closed) and no one from Sun Power responds to my inquiries) I am burned for over $19000.

This has to be one of the worst solar…
This has to be one of the worst solar companies out there. I started the project in October of 2022 and here we are, July 2023, with no updates. I constantly follow-up with my supposedly project coordinator and he does not know what is going. Points me back to the sales guy, and back and forth. I called the number provided and a very rude person just tells me that the latest update is of one month ago and that he does not know what is the current status. At this point, I am going to cancel my contract but already lost 1 year. What a mess.

This is a bad company
Sunpower installed system that went live in April 2023. System failed on June 13, 2023, some 6 weeks after go-live. Sunpower has been largely unresponsive to our requests over these past 6 weeks to assess and restore system. They sent a subcontractor on 7/1 to assess system but have not provided any information regarding action plan other than to inform us that further assessment is needed. Sunpower has not reached out to us or followed through on any promises to call; the only follow through was to forward an email to us in which they threw the subcontractor under the bus.

This is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE…
This is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! I planned to have Solar Panels installed in 4/2022 so I could power my house and an electric car I planned to buy . I told Staff I didn’t have or want Wi-Fi in my home. They said it was no problem and moved on with my signing the contract. For ONE YEAR they couldn’t put my panels up. They said they were missing a part . A year later 5/2023 they put the panels up with a battery. They didn’t alot for my electric car which I told them I was going to buy and did buy. I bought the car 2 weeks after the panels went up and find I need adjustments to the battery in order to connect a charging station) which I purchased 4 weeks ago). I’ve let my coordinator know I needed my charger connected to the battery via email. I’ve asked her to contact me and she refuses to communicate with me via phone. I’ve told her I’ve been forced to use a level 3 changing station to charge and that it damages the battery and decreases it’s life. She doesn’t care and doesn’t respond! I’ve written her supervisor and asked for a different coordinator and she ignores me.
I absolutely DESPISE this company! I’m positive that they are not meeting the guidelines in reference to power created:power usage. They will be turned into the proper authorities

No customer service at all
My system installed on June 6th 2023. And one panel stop working from June 21st. And the installer forgot to install CT devices to monitor the power consumption of my house, i only can see the solar production on the APP. I can’t see my home power consumption. And the layout of the panels are different from the contract and design from the permit. I email SunPower and called like 100 times, they just provided me a CASE#: 03391344 and each time telling me they have a team to monitor that issue and it’s been a month now, still no one contact me for that dead panel and installation of the CT. And they telling me maybe something is block the sunlight get to that one panel, i took pictures for them shows nothing blocked that one panel and at that time the production is still zero. My system shows from June 28 to July 22 the solar panels generated 1318.9 kwh but SCE only received 964 kwh. I need an explanation for that 360 kwh difference that not go into sce system. Because they didn’t install the CT when they installed the panels, I can’t even check my net meters on the app. I have to go to sce website to do the calculations by myself. I paid in cash full price, i should get the fully functioning system not the one with one broken panel and forgotten CT monitor device. Basically i lost a lot money for that 1 panel every month.

New home solar activation
Our initial installation setup was incomplete for the new home. Warren G came to fix it. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He made sure everything was working as expected and activated the panels. Thanks Warren!

Company did try
My solar panels has been sitting on my roof for 3 months being useless, the company won't answer my emails or texts anymore.
The person helping me was either fired or blocked me because my emails can't be delivered anymore. He was also contacting the wrong power company it seems as I am with Edison and he was telling me PG&E would not answer him about the PTO.
I'm in the middle of summer wasting energy with a fancy super expensive tile on my roof.
Edit 1: The company contacted me and let me know that the electric company has not approved my PTO, and gave me a new deadline which is fair, I'll modify my score for now to three stars as I should not have use Trust Pilot to get this information. I'll add more stars if they keep up with the customer service once the PTO is granted.
Edit 2: The power company has finally approved my documentation and once again SunPower has been ignoring me for almost a week. I’m having the worst customer service ever. Last time all they did was send me a generic email, not even contacting me directly. Changing back to 1 star, sorry.
Update to 2 stars for now.
Edit 3:
After contacting the city, the home builder, Sun Power and SCE, I could finally get my PTO and started getting Sun energy. At the end it was SCE's fault not Sun Power so I'm giving back the stars.
I'm still debating between 4 or 5 stars as the service was good but then sometimes they were a bit rude... the last person I talked to was wonderful and fixed the issue within mins so I'll keep 5 for now.

Warren was super nice and knowledgeable. He fixed the wiring in the central control computer and the transformer wiring in the circuit breaker board which was left unfinished by some irresponsible former employee, so my solar panels could be up and running.

Been without solar since July 4th
Been without solar since July 4th. Call tech support and was told they will monitor my system for 24 to 48 hours, and then call to send out service. well after waiting for 6 days and not getting a return call I called again on monday the July 17th, and was told that they will inform the service company. Hot Arizona summer, can wait for my electric bill. Also the first call i was connect with a tech that i had a hard time understanding, first his english was not the greatest, but he had a rooster crowing in the background that made even harder to understand him. He is the person that promised monitor my system and return the call which never happened. This seems to be a recurring problem with this company, my systems to happen every summer

Inverters not communicating with panels
Paid a lot of money for solar panels to avoid high cost of electricity in California. Sales pitch was good and installation went well. However this year I notice a decline in the amount of kWH being produced. At first I didn't pay that much attention since we had a long winter and a lot of rain. However, I have reported the failure of the panels working and I keep getting the run around and absolutely no answer or communication of SunPower about what is going on. Panels are working but not communication with inverters. I should be producing at least 30kWH per day and am lucky if I get 10 in a day. During the months of May thru Sept I generally get 900+ kWH produced. We have temperatures of 100+ every day and because of their lack of doing anything about it, I am getting an electric bill. This is totally unacceptable to have 2/3 of my production being lost every day. This system is 2 years old. They have been trying to solve this problem remotely and it is not working. I am tired of calling and getting the same old scripted answer from the customer support. They do not seem to care and if I get another high electric bill, I will not be happy. Today I was to receive a call from a supervisor to discuss this and even was given a specific time. Guess what, that NEVER HAPPENED. If I do not get resolution this week I will be contacting my congressman in addition to the news.
So here it is 3 days in a row that I have been told someone would contact me. My case has been in the escalated status since not long after I reported it. I have not heard anything from anyone and sat on hold for 50 minutes yesterday waiting for the supervisor assigned to my case, named Trenton, to take my call. Well like all the rest of the supervisors that work 7 to 4, he left at 4 even though I was on hold for him.
Then today I received this message from SunPower. Reply from SunPower

Well guess what? THAT NEVER HAPPENED and neither did the phone calls.

I also suggest contacting your congressman and the news media. Maybe bringing some attention to them will get things done.

SunPower and their installation partner Leonard Roofing finally sent competent people to get our solar working after the installation was bungled several months ago.
SunPower's Warren and Leonard Roofing's Stefan, Joe and the last electrician they sent (can't remember his name) deserve 5 stars on their own.

Julian got our system working and even helped us connect everything in the app. Arrived on time and explained the system’s capabilities well. He diagnosed all the panels and found defects on some of them which they will replace. Overall excellent service.
