AVOID SURREY HOUSE OF CARS IN CHERTSEY…
AVOID SURREY HOUSE OF CARS IN CHERTSEY AT ALL COSTS.
Buying a car from this dealership has been one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. I had only just passed my driving test and was so excited to finally have a car to drive. More importantly, this car was bought to help my disabled mum and dad, so having a reliable vehicle was incredibly important to us.
Unfortunately, from the moment we drove it away, it has been nothing but problem after problem, and dealing with the owner has been just as bad as dealing with the car itself.
Before we even got very far, an independent mechanic found the car needed a ball joint and brake discs. We had already agreed on money off because the cambelt needed replacing, yet even more faults immediately came to light. We had been told the car had passed an MOT, which left us seriously questioning how the car had passed its MOT in that condition.
Things only got worse. The engine management light appeared, there were gearbox fault codes, and the car has broken down around 14 times. Every time we thought one issue had been resolved, another appeared. Now the car has developed a judder as well.
When we tried to reject the car and asked for a refund because of the ongoing problems, we were met with resistance. Instead of resolving the situation fairly, the car was sent to the dealer's own mechanic, who claimed it was "just the battery". That explanation simply does not match what we have experienced with this car.
What makes this even more upsetting is that, in our experience, once the money was paid, it felt like we no longer mattered. We paid £3,800, which may apparently not seem like a lot of money to some people, but it is a huge amount of money to us. We worked hard for that money and expected to receive a reliable car and reasonable customer service in return.
Instead, we have been left with a car that has caused us stress, expense and endless problems. We have had independent mechanics inspect it, paid for diagnostics, been stranded repeatedly and spent a great deal of time trying to get the situation resolved.
I had only just passed my driving test and was genuinely excited about getting this car. It was meant to make life easier for my disabled mum and dad. Instead, this whole experience has taken the excitement out of what should have been a really positive milestone for me and turned it into worry, frustration and expense.
I would never buy another vehicle from Surrey House of Cars, and I would urge anyone thinking about using this dealership to think very carefully. Please have any vehicle independently inspected before buying. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone.

The owner zeeshan is very rude and complete fraud.
He sold a dodgy car and then when the old owner returned car within a month for faulty alternator he repaired it. I'm next owner and after 6 months again alternator is gone as he used cheap repairer Autocraft from Reading for repairs.
After calling him, he didn't take responsibility and began abusing me. Will be reporting surrey motor company to trading standards

I paid a £300 deposit for this vehicle after being told in writing that the sills and arches had no rust. After payment, I checked the MOT history, which showed previous structural corrosion, and the seller later sent a video showing rust in the same area. When I asked for proof of repair, none was provided and my refund request was refused.
The same vehicle (RO04 RTV) has now been relisted on Auto Trader while my deposit is still being withheld. I have raised formal complaints with Auto Trader, my bank, and the relevant authorities.
Posting this update so other buyers have the full context before dealing with this trader.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
I purchased a car from here around 2-3 years ago now and I’ve had non-stop issues, every PROFESSIONAL mechanic I’ve spoken to has said that they wouldn’t have sold my car to anyone, it’s been a liability since the day I got it, I paid £3,000 more than the actual value of the car. It’s now been scrapped.
Part of the car had fallen apart as I drove out of the extremely dodgy company ground, we turned back quickly to get assistance for this and they said it was us who hit a curb and knocked it off, I hadn’t even reached far enough to get to any curbs. That should’ve been my first sign.
They barely dealt with the documents correctly and the whole transaction process was extremely sketchy.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

Purchased a car from here beggining of the month to be told something needed replacing and the car would be with me in a couple of days (fair enough)..To be told CAR NOT READY, After a couple of days no phone call so chased it up...To then be told something else was wrong and they needed a couple of days.. AGAIN NO PHONE CALL AND STILL NO CAR AGAIN CHASING UP.. To then told needed 5 days..SURPRISE SURPRISE STILL NO PHONE CALL AND HAVING TO CHASE AGAIN, OH AND STILL NO CAR to be told they needed 7 days AGAIN NO PHONE CALL AND NO CAR.. THERE WAS NO CORRESPONDENCE FROM THEM AT ALL, I HAD TO DO ALL THE CHASING EVEN WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME AND NEVER DID. I am a very patient woman but they were taking the mickey unprofessional, lack of respect (I could go on but I wont) So now I am taking my business else where...
Faulty Ford Kuga Gearbox Fail
Brought a Ford Kuga back in November 2022. 4 days after purchasing we noticed something wasn’t right and took it to our local trusted garage. The said the power shift gearbox has failed and would cost a substantial amount to fix. The car had to be recovered twice and was taken the the dealerships garage to fix. Being in their possession for over 3 weeks in total and the last time clocking up over 200 miles! Which was put down to test driving!
The issue is still there so we decided to go through our warranty, only to be told the garage hadn’t started the warranty from the day we purchased the car and therefore voiding any work that needed to be done as the issue was there before the warranty and been put into place.
The dealership is refusing to do anything about it. Like the previous customer said, we are covered by the consumer rights act which I mentioned to them after receiving the car back the first time. They refused to acknowledge this and give us our money back within the 3 month period. We are now almost 6 months in and will now be taking them to the county court.
It seems they will have many people taking legal action against them.
£10,000 Ford S-Max Condemned Powershift Gearbox
RG45 6AD
United Kingdom
Ford S Max 2.0 TDCI, MV63 ZBX, 53,357 miles
Dear Surrey Motor Company,
On 15/10/2022 we bought a Ford S Max 2.0 TDCI from you at a cost of £10,194, which we paid by debit card.
The car is defective, and the fault is listed below:
1. Condemned Powershift gearbox, cannot be driven
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires you to supply goods that are of satisfactory quality. The car is not of satisfactory quality and not fit for the purpose for which it was sold. For the reasons given above taking account the age, price, description and mileage when sold and you are, therefore, in breach of contract.
We first contacted you with regards to this issue on 01/03/23, after the car became undrivable - up to this point we had thought that the hesitant and often times lurching gearbox was because it was an automatic.
After we sent you a copy of the receipt you pointed out that you had written on it that there was a 3-month warranty for the engine and gearbox only and refused to assist.
We would draw your attention to a particular detail within the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contract (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 that you have failed to observe:
Verbal warranties or simply “engine/gearbox only for three months” written on the invoice will not comply with these recommendations and leave the dealers warranty offer open to the interpretation of a court.
Furthermore, per the Consumer Rights Act 2015; as it is more than 30 days but less than 6 months since the car was supplied to us, the onus is on you as the supplier to prove that the car did not have this fault when you sold it to us.
We believe that it did, and that you would have been aware of it if not that you were the party who repaired it enough to sell on.
We have therefore obtained a second opinion in support of our claim. Avary James Automotive of Brunswick Pl, Basingstoke RG21 3NN say that the gearbox has been previously and poorly repaired using sub-standard methods.
This can be seen in photographs taken of the gearbox, the most obvious sign being a seam of black sealant running from gearbox to bell housings which is not standard and would not have been done by a competent or authorised repair centre. They have advised that the car requires a new gearbox.
Considering what we have detailed thus far we are rejecting the car under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and will claim a full refund.
We will also contact the Motor Ombudsman, Trading Standards as well as the AA as you are signed up to the AA Dealer Promise, as detailed on your website and Autotrader adverts.
Further to that, we will not hesitate to take legal action to resolve this issue.
Please reply with your comments and intentions within 14 days.
Yours
Chris
Very poor service
Very poor service! Sold me a right Lemon. Poor customer service, rude staff. Lied to on many occasions. Avoid the place. Took 4 months to get some money back!
Honestly dodgiest place I’ve ever been
Honestly dodgiest place I’ve ever been. Turned up to nobody there despite making an appointment, just a lot of seemingly abandoned cars with a lot of flat tyres and some being stripped for parts. Went to test drive a car that was up for 4k - well above market price for a 20 year old car - and it wouldn’t even start. The owner jump started it but the car was stuck in limp mode and wouldn’t even pull away on the clutch. Owner tried to tell us there was nothing wrong with it and it was just a flat battery. Gave us the keys to try a similar car and within 30 seconds of starting the check engine light was on. Got out of there asap!

I bought a Chrysler PT cruiser from this company, and I am delighted with it.
The staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I got the impression that they were proud of the car they were selling to me, and they were knowledgeable about it even though it's not a common car.
A positive experience.
Great garage and trustworthy
I purchased a car from Surrey motor company and I had very good experience Unfortunately the car had little problem with oil leaking but the garage deal with it brilliantly. I would recommend and trust them.Thank you for your help
The worst consumer treatment I have ever had
Car not fit for purpose | Stressful Experience | Poor Customer Focus | | Rude Reception Service | Lack of Communication
I can't express the level of disappointment with this purchase. It was delivered to my house which I was grateful for and transactions around acquisition went fine. As it was pouring with rain when the car arrived it wasn't possible to test the roof of the Audi convertible purchased. However on first operation this failed. This was just the start as the car seemed beset with difficulty. Engine leaks, coils, roof etc. all failing day after day.
Surrey motorcompany did contribute to some of the repairs which were undertaken by a local garage, however communication over this period and beyond was a nightmare. The company needed four or five contacts in order to respond with a single reply and this exacerbated legitimate concern.
We understood that the owner [Shahbaz] and his wife were having a new baby, so we allowed for that on numerous occasions, however we were agog at the way we were treated by office staff who made us feel like a nuisance, couldn't give any information and frequently gave responses which conflicted with the owner.
The car was purchased in February, it is now mid June and I have only been able to drive it twice.
I had the car delivered to them by AA homestart as they said it was impossible for them to pick it up. Although dropoff was arranged beforehand the AA needed to call me because the person at the desk didn't know anything about the car and wouldn't receive it. I made several phonecalls to Shahbaz and needed to argue with the reception before they agreed the AA could leave the car. I was informed that the garage / showroom looked shady, which was the way it felt, but I had the car left anyway.
Four weeks in I could get no information, however I did receive a parking ticket with a camera catching my car in Bath. Given that Surreymotorcompany is based in Essex and I am based in Enfield this was alarming. When I eventually spoke to Shahbaz I was informed that the car was on a test drive and that they were waiting for somebody to fix the hood. I explained that during this time I had been without transport and emphasised the unfairness.
Shahbaz then told me that I could have had a courtesy car, although nobody had explained that to me before. He'd thought I had other cars so it hadn't been mentioned. I was brought a convertible Saab which although it was not of the calibre of my car, was a similar vehicle that at least allowed me to get around. Again I was grateful, although the other family members on my insurance policy are not insured to drive the courtesy car - which arrived with a broken night light and emergency errors showing on the dashboard.
Surreymotors have made a couple of attempts to return the fixed car, but each time the hood has shown itself inoperable when we've tested, so although I've seen the car two or three times since, I've never been able to drive it. On the last occasion when the hood failed I called Shahbaz who conveyed his embarrassment and said they had paid a company to fix the hood so was very angry. I explained I no longer had any faith in the car or the company and asked for a refund ... which suddenly led to Shahbaz having to dash off the phone to speak to the hood company who had just called. His last words were that he would call me later that evening or at latest the next day.
Needless to say the call didn't come and when I called the office Shon [Zeeshan] politely advised us that Shahbaz would not be able to speak to us for another 4 days, that he [Zeeshan] was making decisions, that we should have been happy with the car as delivered, that they had wasted good money trying to repair the car, that we would not get our money back, that the company had been far too good to us and that he would not have given us a courtesy car. It was a rude and most frustrating encounter where I was left feeling like I was begging for a service I had paid for. To add insult to injury Zeeshan lied about the content of the conversation, telling Shahbaz that my husband had sworn at him. Personally if my husband had sworn at him I would not deny it, he clearly did little to earn customer respect, however this did not happen and is the last straw in dealing with what seems like a shambles of a company. My husband did tell Zeeshan that he was a Cowboy - and I would uphold that. I certainly feel like I have been cheated. I last heard that the company are ordering a new motor, but I've had no information on when I might expect my car and no apology for leaving me hanging on the line and no apology for lies or inconvenience.
I am now having to seek recompense through litigation. Whatever happens nothing will ever compensate for the stress.
