This company refused my Debit card, although the bank said the card was in order and did not have any limitations on it. All for less than £20. I received an apology the next day and a request for full details. I replied immediately, but my Debit card is still refused and I have not heard further from TGJones, a week later.

Unfortunately, l have forgotten her name..we had a lovely chat, she made my trip over to teignmouth a pleasure, l did tell her at the time, that she was a nice person, l would feel fortunate if all assistants were like her.

Bought pack of pens from there
Bought pack of pens from there, got home, none of them worked! Prob been there a long time and dried out! Couldn’t be bothered to take them back as hardly go to town!
Also visited post office, Christ that manager in the post office has some bad attitude! Sheraz think his name said! Not surprised it’s closing! Hope he don’t get job if they open a new post office!! Horrible bloke!!

Been ringing them every hour since 10am today because they said delivery hadn't arrived (even though Bangor store said they arrived yesterday) in a space of an hour, the delivery had been and SOLD EVERY SINGLE PACK!!!!!!!
Should have reported them months ago when we found this out!!!!!!!!

Useless - went to get cash and some euros from the post office in TG Hones - Can’t use a Revolut card as it’s “not a proper bank” then wanted id for €150 because it might be “money laundering” 😂 Went to the “proper post office” and was absolutely fine !

Post Office transactions are subject to the policies, procedures, and compliance requirements set by the Post Office, including identity verification and anti-money laundering checks where applicable. Payment methods accepted for certain transactions are also determined by the Post Office and not by TGJones colleagues.
We appreciate that this may have been frustrating, particularly as you were able to complete your transaction elsewhere, however our team are required to follow the guidance provided to them at the time of service. Regards Fran
Refused to accept gift card
I attempted to use a gift card which was still in date, but they refused to accept it.
The upshot being that TG Jones have stolen £30 from me.
The store manager/supervisor was also quite rude to me when he was called over by the till assistant.

Please note that all WHSmith gift cards were required to be redeemed in a TGJones store by 28 June. After this date, these gift cards could no longer be accepted in any of our stores, and colleagues are therefore correct to refuse their use. Information regarding this change was communicated both online and within stores for customers to view.

Even the flagship is a disgrace
TGJones mission statement was to be a hub of the high street... why is the Westfield London shop so low on stock and what does arrive seems to be generic tat you can buy for less from any discount store? The pricing may also be illegal.
For instance, all the random cookware and coat hangers etc with reduction labels on... When I know for a fact the full price was never there, the jewellery plinth of stuff you say was sold at some other random store at full price so you can call it half price here? I'm sorry, is this Sports Direct?
This is meant to be a flagship store but it is understocked and understaffed, and quite frankly just two shops away The Works offer better range and quality of stationery and books, Warren James almost directly above sells better jewellery and finally...
The shop front is a disgrace, broken glass, huge amount of dust, broken fluorescent bulbs flickering LED lighting all visible from the shoddy signage change from WHSmith to TGJones. The dead flies caught in well established spider webs is absolutely astonishing. The one shop that is most likely to be visited by customers from around the world and this is what they see. A sparsly stocked shop with a mishmash of merchandise with filthy window area.
The mess at the front is not a store level problem as it looks inaccessible, it is a lack of attention to detail and why retail is struggling.
Staff jobs are at risk with store closures and the quality of merchandise and it's type that is coming in is not going to sell well to boost Christmas sales of the ones that have not been mentioned on any closure announcements.
So what do I expect from my essay of a review? A, maybe a proper real interest in retailing and direction from HQ to keep staff and customers happier. B, honesty by publishing a real shop closure list so staff have time to find a new job rather than thrown on the dole, and customers not wondering if their local will shut or not and just wait till it dies to save 50%. C, nothing... The facts in my review are too big too real and nothing will change as Modella overpaid for dilapidated shops and after Christmas 2026 will close more shops as remaining stock runs low, staff run low and customers abandon TGJones.

Visited TGJones shop on Thursday 27th…
Visited TGJones shop on Thursday 27th in Glasgow Argyle street after 5pm to buy refills for my Stabilo one my wife was outside waiting
A rude aggressive staff member barked at me “can I help you”aggressively then another male staff appeared I said I need refills for my own
She pointed to them all the time looking at her male colleague that was when I realised they thought I might be stealing things I’m 60 yrs old retired
Never in my life have I been so humiliated in a shop the lady had dark hair and a very a bad aggressive attitude she should be sacked for doing this to me I have plenty of money to buy anything but this kind of treatment by her towards me is not acceptable behaviour towards a customer who pays her wages from my sale
I was angry at this then went to pay at the pay point the staff member a male also had a I don’t care attitude the point was closed shocking staff in the Glasgow Argyle street shop that woman should be dismissed from her post asap before she does what she did to me to some other paying customer
I am considering contacting the local newspapers and social media about this
Never have I been treated so badly in a shop like this in my life

Order no. T1096143129 - Update
The book I ordered on 6th June is far from unobtainable, you still have it available at £11 which was the original purchase price but I had a discount voucher which brought the price down to £9.90 and I was going to collect it (what's the betting that if I paid postage you'd still sell it to me?) THIS is the real reason you can't supply it, not because it's unavailable. Well you've done it now, I will NEVER ever think about buying from greedy, lying TG Jones again.
TGJ's reply saying that orders are cancelled if not fulfilled within 30 days just doesn't wash. The book was offered for sale in the full knowledge that it wasn't published until early October a full THREE months before they cancelled it.
I'm STILL not happy about my experience with TGJ - bring back WHS!

Failure to communicate closures
As part of a finance deal lots of their stores are closing, including our local one which also includes a Post Office.
The company does not make any attempt to publicise these closures to customers, whom they obviously do not care about. There is no mention whatsoever on their website or anywhere else; you would assume it was business as normal.
We are left to find out which stores are closing from newspapers or seeing signs in the windows. I understand the decisions as to which stores are closing is down the individual landlords, but once a decision is made, TG Jones should make an effort to inform customers.
I have emailed the company asking for clarity of which stores are closing, or some sort of statement, but they haven’t responded.

Absolutely horrific
Absolutely horrific. Ordered a book to click and collect they said it’d take 2-3 days, it was then damage in dispatch so they were gonna refund it as ‘we asked’ we never once asked for a refund! Then got an email saying to come and collect it, went to go collect it and they’re saying we’re not allowed to as refunded. We haven’t been refunded. Absolutely poor customer service!
