Firstly, zero stars should be an option. 1 is the minimum and the company is not worth 1 star.
I cannot stress enough that you should not use this company for anything.
Not only are their charges hideously inflated and far higher than you would be charged elsewhere for a better service, they are NOT REGULATED, which means when things go wrong, as they often do, there is no come back.
The advice they give is incorrect. DO NOT PUT YOUR HOUSE IN TRUST - this is deprivation of assets - look it up. DO NOT LET THEM APPOINT THEMSELVES AS YOUR TRUSTEE, ATTORNEY OR EXECUTOR - this will only ensure high costs for dealing with anything and misery for your family in the future.
This company preyed on my vulnerable dying father but luckily I stepped in before he signed anything, otherwise I would have been stuck with them acting as his executor.
Please avoid at all costs.
In response to their reply.
1. You have not reached out, except on here, and you have certainly not contacted me directly.
2. You charged my father a considerable amount of money, several thousand up front, for doing nothing at all, and you have not refunded him. Further reviews are posted because of this, and because I do not want other people to fall victim to your preying on the vulnerable.
3. Your advice is not tailored. You suggested that they could avoid IHT, without acknowledging that they would not actually be liable for IHT - planning for no reason whatsoever. You suggested you could protect their assets by setting up a family trust. The only thing this would achieve is setting you up as a costly trustee and making my life as their only daughter very difficult. Their house would be protected if my dad needed care because my mother lives in it, and subsequently putting it into trust would be a deprivation of assets and not work in avoiding care costs. This was expensive and completely incorrect advice.
4. You said my parents' existing Will were not valid. I have had them double checked by a senior qualified and highly respected solicitor and they are very much valid.
You lied to my parents on the need for new Wills, the setting up of a completely pointless trust and the notion of appointing yourselves as trustees and executors, again achieving nothing except unnecessary cost and administration. They have few assets, no IHT liability and one daughter. It so happens that I also have 30 years experience in financial advice , wealth management and legal matters.
My father died not longer afterwards and I thank goodness I do not have to deal with you in conjunction with his death. His assets passed to my mother with no difficult whatsoever and if you had been involved this would not have been the case.
I sincerely hope that more people realise that you are unregulated and unprofessional.

We also note that your father's services with us have since been cancelled and the matter brought to a close. In these circumstances, we are struggling to understand why further reviews continue to be posted raising the same issues, particularly when opportunities to discuss them directly have not been taken up.
We do not accept a number of the statements made within your review. The advice provided to clients is tailored to their individual circumstances and is discussed in detail before any decisions are made. Clients remain free to decide whether to proceed with any recommendations, and no documents are implemented without their authority and consent.
Whilst we appreciate that you may disagree with the advice provided, we do not believe it is fair or accurate to suggest that vulnerable individuals are "preyed upon" or that our services are delivered without proper consideration of a client's needs and objectives.
Our preference remains to address concerns directly and constructively. Should you wish to discuss the matter further, we would be happy to review any specific points you wish to raise.

Free will writing service
I arranged to have my will written at home through the free will writing scheme. My appointment was cancelled at short notice because there was no longer anyone working my area. A couple of months later I was contacted to say they now had someone and a new appointment was made for today at 2pm. As I had not had the pre appointment phone call i was expecting I contacted them only to be told exactly the same story as last time. My friend had taken a day off work to be here with me for the appointment. I asked why no one had told me the appointment had been cancelled and was told that they had tried to call me a couple of times. I said that they could have messaged me at the very least! Instead if I hadn’t called them my will appointment would have just been a ‘no show’. So disappointed in this company.

We would like to clarify that we made multiple attempts to contact you via your mobile phone ahead of the appointment to advise you that, unfortunately, we currently do not have a consultant covering your area. During our conversation, we also offered to amend your appointment to a Teams appointment as an alternative to a home visit. As we do not currently have a consultant available locally, a Teams appointment is often the quickest and easiest way for our clients to receive the same will-writing service without further delays.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused, particularly as your friend had arranged time away from work to be present for the appointment. We appreciate your comments regarding communication and will ensure your feedback is shared with the relevant team as we continue to review and improve our customer experience.

Free service through Octopus so was dubious and expecting hard sell of other products, this was not the case. Derek came to my home and went through writing my Will with no pressure when making me aware of products that will absolutely be useful and important. Would definitely recommend.
