This garage does not honour the consumer rights act in anyway. I bought a car from this garage in Armley, Leeds and within 3 days an engine management light came on. Returned for them to have a look, and said it was fine. Another 3 days after it was returned to me the light came back on. Same process, took the car back and asked them to sort. They returned the car to me and yet again the fault came back. At this point I had given up on the vehicle and just wanted to return. This was 2 months after purchase and the same issue had been on going. When I returned to the garage the owner became aggressive and threatening me to get off his land. In the end I took it to a garage to be repaired myself, the catalytic converter was completely cut open and gutted. Strange as the car had passed a mot done by the garage just before purchase. There is no way that this car passed the emissions part of the mot. If you’re thinking about buying a car from here, be aware, just hope you don’t have any issues with it because they won’t fix it or honour any legal rights you should have.

I purchased a used Hyundai i10 (2009 model) from Tong Road Motor Sales in Leeds in late April 2025 for £1,100. As someone buying their first car after over 10 years, I was genuinely excited and hopeful. Unfortunately, my experience quickly became stressful and disappointing.

Although the salesperson assured me the car was in good condition, within two weeks it began to develop serious issues—struggling to accelerate, jerking while driving, and feeling unsafe, especially on hills. Naturally, I reached out under their one-month warranty, expecting some level of support.

However, the service I received left a lot to be desired:
I was told no mechanics were available and to try again later.
When I dropped the car off, it wasn’t looked at for several days.
Eventually, a timing chain issue was acknowledged, but other reported issues (like the clutch or transmission) were not addressed.

Communication was very poor —I couldn’t get updates or responses despite following up.

I understand that used cars can come with some risk, but I expected some transparency and better aftercare from a professional dealership. Instead, I was left without a working car and no support.

I’ve since sought guidance from Citizens Advice and Trading Standards. I would advise others to approach this dealer with caution and ensure any promises are documented before purchase.
