I did my level 2 and 3 diplomas with…
I did my level 2 and 3 diplomas with YMCA and it was great . Very supportive staff and accessible materials and good coaching face to face ! I am 68 and they always treated me with respect although I was the oldest in the group . Lots of hard work and fun too !

Good tuition, bad administration.
The Level 2 Fitness Instructor course was incredibly well structured and delivered professionally and with great care to ensure all pupils have the best chance of passing.
I didn't go onto Level 3, but stayed in touch with people in my group and they were much less impressed with the second tutor.
However, I found serious structural problems with the course once the tuition was done - around marking of work and communication from admin staff. Standards of pass grades are subjective and differ depending on which person marks your written work in some cases. Concerns about this were not dealt with quickly, and dragged on for weeks.
Eventually my concerns were addressed and complaints upheld, but it sadly changed an overwhelmingly positive experience into a negative one - but perhaps learnings have been made since then.

I was so impressed with Rafaela's care
I was so impressed with Rafaela's care and telephone manner. She is knowledgeable and has been incredibly helpful with me returning to further my studies with Stott aftersome time away. From the start of our correspondense her etiquette, warmth, and understanding made me feel secure and confident on continuning on the Stott journey. She provided all the details and more. She is an asset to her work, and it was such a pleasure to receive her knowledge over the telephone. The teachers on this course are outstanding. Experience face to face
during my face to face sessions hollie made sure myself and the rest of my group felt so welcome and relaxed she really helped improve my confidence and knowledge which made such a difference to my experience as most of the course was online and at home she helped makes everything make sense in person and put things in to real life practice she also went above and beyond to give us advise about working in the industry which i found really helpful

Friendly atmosphere
The YMCA is very easy to find. The course is structured well and very easy to follow. Trevor has taught us for our in person sessions and he has made the learning fun and very easy to learn. He has a friendly approach and makes you feel calm. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.
All the staff are very friendly, in particular Mikey at reception. He always greets you with a warm welcome. I have felt very comfortable coming here and this has set me up well for my exams.
The cafe is amazing, and again the people working there are so friendly and eager to chat to you. The facilities are clean and fresh.

The in-person instruction was…
The in-person instruction was fantastic! But the online content design, structure and flow was very confusing at times. There were continuity errors and incorrect information throughout the program. The communication from the student support team was quite difficult because they did not set clear expectations which left me frustrated and constantly following up. Be prepared to wait 2-3 months to receive your certificate after finishing the coursework.
I did raise concerns with the student support team and was instructed to leave the information as a Trustpilot review.
The in person instruction was 5 stars for sure, but everything else, 1 star.

Padwork course
The YMCA Padwork course was led by Trevor, an experienced boxer. Everything was explained in a simple manner and plenty of practical training.
I would recommend this for any fitness instructor.
