Stay away from this company and don't use them. This company should be fined and shut down. They are scammers right out in the open and the better business bureau should be doing a better job letting companies like this flourish. They put you in a worse situation then when you started with them and in deeper trouble with the companies you owe money too. When they tell you to stop paying the companies you owe money too. Don't listen as they take forever to do anything or nothing at all. Your account will be written off and sent to a third party collections agency. This will be on your credit report and will hurt you in the future. You are paying for services that are not being done. Research and find a better company then York credit services.

They are not licensed litigators and are charging vulnerable people in Ontario for services that that should be free. Then they drag out the process for months to take extra money from them, it’s disgusting. I'm updating this review, after three more months of their scam continuing. Even though my mother provided them every single document they asked for, they are still asking for more. It's been eight months. York Credit told my mom not to answer to all the debt collectors calling, but now her credit is worse than its ever been. Please look up "York Credit scam" before using their services, don't waste your time and money for a service that is provided by the government for free!!!

Quick and easy. Guides you with information that you're not 100% sure of. Helps you see the light at the end of that long dark tunnel of debt.

I was fully drowning in debt but didn't realize how serious my situation was.

I came across York Credit Services in my research to help my partner identify options to ease his own financial situation. It was during this process that I realized that I was just as much in need of debt counselling as he was - if not more.

I contacted three debt management companies. The first scheduled me for their first available assessment 4 weeks out. I'm still waiting to hear back from the second. I stopped looking after the third: York Credit Services responded almost immediately and scheduled me for an initial assessment that was booked for a couple of days later.

Over the next few weeks, they guided me through the submission of a consumer proposal which, to my great relief, was eventually accepted by my creditors.

Tyson, my debt counsellor, should receive an award for the care and attention he provided me. I felt comfortable working with him and divulging my "dirtiest secrets" (a.k.a the unpleasant details of my financial situation) from our first conversation. To me, it was clear that he truly cared about my financial well-being. Add to this his non-judgemental tone, attention to detail, and complete transparency about every step of the process inspired my confidence and helped me feel better about taking, what is arguably, one of the most dramatic measures that a person can take in their adult life.

He was upfront about their fees (yes, you pay fees - this is a business, after all, and not a charity. The good news is that those fees are amortized over the first 24 months of my monthly payments so I didn't have to pay anything up front), clear about what I should and should not expect at each stage of the process, and provided useful information/resources and suggestions about how to approach the different decisions I had to make over the course of our interaction. He also helped me navigate through some of the complexities of my personal situation, going to lengths to ensure that I got the best possible outcome. I'm sure there are any number of debt counsellors in Toronto who can competently help others through a financial mess, but I doubt there are many like Tyson.

I'm now three months into the program and I cannot stress enough the relief I feel to have wrangled the beast that was my debt into manageable monthly payments. No word of a lie, I truly can see the light at the end of the tunnel - and it's not too far off.
