I participated in a series of small sessions about Math Wars and how to implement it in my classroom. I like the method, but I think what I gained most was a reminder that while I need to fulfill the goals of the district, my heart and goal is to be careful not to lose sight of the needs of the students I serve. I had been struggling with which sections to eliminate so that I could focus more intently on the content. This series encouraged me and let me know I was on the right track if I really want to move low performing students forward.

I am thrilled with the amount of take-aways from the Student Engagement Workshop session. Many of the strategies were not new to me, but some of the twists and suggestions from both the instructor and participants really made them click for me. I am so psyched to use the polished routines with my students in the upcoming school year.

Whenever I listen to Juliana I walk away with ideas I can put to use in my class immediately with little prep work. This is important to me as a teacher. I also have found that my students truly are engaged by the ideas I get from her.

Juliana give such a systematic approach to teaching and supporting students who struggle with math. She has tools to support students with math anxiety, but also ensures that all students are given access to grade level content, regardless of their math performance.

This was a district provided PD that I took with the hope of adding some useful tools to my math lessons. I was extremely pleased with what I learned. I will be able to easily fit this technique into my curriculum to improve engagement and collaboration every day. I am very excited to start adding this into my lesson plans!

I took Quick Math Wins with Juliana Tapper. The class was fast paced and engaging. She taught participants how to kick common techniques up a notch and modify them to increase engagement and learning, which I really liked.

Just attended your virtual session for CAMT 2022. Very informative, enthusiastic and fun! Definitely great resources that are going to be super easy to implement in the classroom and will get students thinking and engaged!

I found the math engagement challenge to be a great resource. I'd highly recommend any math teachers to take the course to add to their toolbox to get students engaged in math tasks.

This workshop was awesome. I feel that I am able to utilize this in my own classroom even though I do not teach math. These strategies are definitely applicable to other subjects.

Excellent ideas. I've played estimation games with the students - guessing how many pieces of candy are in a glass or mug and they love it.
I'll have to try WODB again. My class this year might be more receptive to it.

This was a great workshop. I am a retired teacher, and I have taken a part time interventionist position. Your workshop provided me ways to help the struggling students that I work with. I used some of these strategies as a regular classroom teacher (Teach like a Champion was a GREAT resource), but it was great to see how you put several ideas together.

I have never heard of Math Wars before and can see its potential to engage, challenge, and motivate. I love the simple template to fill no matter the standard. Looking forward to implementing in the fall. THANK YOU!
