Terrible service and communication

Terrible service and communication

I’m a first time buyer with no chain and have been waiting for nearly 6 months to for a sale to complete on an unoccupied house

The move should have been completed weeks ago according to the estate agents and my conveyancer, however Countrywide (Acting for the sellers) are making this process unnecessarily stressful!

Was just due to complete after many delays, booked time off work, sorted moving boxes etc only for them to come back and say it will be another two weeks.

I have one enquiry left outstanding and it is a very simple document that they need to produce. They have been chased relentlessly by my conveyancer and the estate agents with little to no response.

Worth noting this enquiry is about indemnity insurance - a few other reviews have mentioned this ‘tactic’ as a reason for their delays too. Will be interested to see how this pans out.

Would never recommend anyone use this company, they have delayed the sale without any need to and do not respond when chased. If they do respond, it is with little to no information to give you any sort of peace of mind.

I hope others read this and dont pick Countrywide, because having read a lot of the reviews on here it seems like the same old story - huge delays and complete lack of organisation. Don’t use them!

Simply the worst available

I guess my review will make little difference as there are no end of reviews slating the service of this company. I believe that the only reason that get business is through estate agent recommendations [from estate agents also owned by their parent company!!] If they were to compete on the "High Street" with reviews like this and so many other similar reviews, I really don't believe that they would survive. We missed the stamp duty holiday due to their incompetence so wasted thousands of pounds. Fortunately, as the purchasers, we used Gorvins Residential for conveyancing [Just compare the reviews on Trust Pilot please] and they went above and beyond to keep the sale on track, often by doing CCS work for them! Even if this service was free, I would never use them and after talking with the vendors they feel exactly the same. Sadly, they simply don't care and I suspect wont change, but if this review saves one person the stress and anxiety caused by experiencing their incompetence then this will have been worthwhile.

Fantastic experience with Samantha Burke & team

Myself & my partner had the best possible experience with CCS. Samantha Burke and her assistant Louise acted as our property lawyer and is by far the best solicitor i have dealt with. She responded to all emails within a matter of hours, sometimes even on her days off. Our purchase exchanged within 2 months and was not stressful in the slightest. Samantha updated us most days and sent us all documents we were required to sign as soon as possible. We exchanged contracts on the 30th September right at the end of the day, even though we weren't pushing to exchange that week and would of happily waited another few weeks, she exchanged contracts with the sellers laywers on what was probably the busiest day for her ( and other property laywers) as it was the last day/deadline for completions for stamp duty relief and i cant recommended her enough. If you're looking for a friendly, speedy efficient property laywer then i would definitely recommend Samantha. we honestly cant fault her.

terrible

terrible. We had to take them because the agency was using them. Buying a house without a chain took 6 months. We payed 2k£ for their service. Manchester team did not answer even 1 email, ask for 1 document a day and not giving all required form in one go. I had to run to scanning services and ask my family to do it almost every day. On top of that I have wrote complain to them that this is not acceptable to request old people to run to scanning services every day, my mother gave me support for the deposit and she had to scan around 20 pages of conformation for the moneys. I do understand that this is requirement for money laundering but why not in one go? So they never even answered to that complain. Never ever again gona use them.

Wish I'd read the reviews before...

We got recommended countrywide solicitors by Blundells when purchasing a house through them the decision to go through with this was a big mistake. This was our first house buy so we was keen to send all the documents and info that was required to progress the buy very quickly. Countrywide solicitors use an online log in system where they converse with you (very rare) and send you documents to sign online and updates although this was awkward to use at times but we managed to send everything they asked for back quickly and progress was looking good, however upon the legal searches for the property at around the two month mark we began to hear nothing apart from two messages stating that the seller had not answered two particular legal questions up to standard, which they stated by document and showed there communication with the other solicitor which was fair enough. This however was the only communication we received for what took another 6 month, we could not get in contact with Danielle our solicitor by phone or email just to get a reason why they where not receiving the correct replies nor did we get any evidence they where doing there best to pressure the sellers solicitors to respond. It felt like we was out of the loop and the house purchase was destined to fail, it continued to the point where our mortgage offer had expired and myself and partner had to visit the seller to ask what was going on and open a dialogue with them to sort stuff out which is what I supposedly paid my solicitor for. Thanks to countrywide mortgage advisor Julian who was the best choice we made we managed to extend the mortgage offer in time to complete the sale, there was even confusion on the exchange date as Danielle told us we was exchanging on a Friday we sent the invoice money and to our disbelief the seller and there estate agents had no idea about this so that got moved to the following Tuesday. After 8 months of stress and feeling like we where left totally in the dark I regret to say I would definitely not recommend countrywide "Solicitors" however as I mentioned Julian from countrywide "mortgage advisors" was great so I'm not sure if we dropped on the wrong the solicitor or all the team are like so.
I also question whether Blundells made enough effort to advise the seller what needed doing to complete the sale in time as when we spoke to the sellers they seemed confused to what was actually needed of them and in general to sort things out which they attempted to but at the last minute in a mad rush.

Would not recommend to friends or family

This organisation is the vendors solicitor, I am buying, a no chain property. Process started in February, still waiting for enquiries and management pack from CWS. If vendor has not sent money for pack or filled in forms ect, why are CWS not chasing up??. I am constantly phoning estate agents and my solicitor. They say they are emailing CWS to no avail. Lucky if we get the keys by Xmas (2022?????)

Run a mile!

My buyer is using this shambles of a company. We agreed a price on 2nd March 2021 and all involved wanted a quick turnaround as no chain either side. We were finally hoping to exchange last week to complete early this week but now at the 11th hour we can't exchange because they let the local authority search expire mid September!!! Firstly the buyer's mortgage offer expired because of their incompetence and now this. Looking at the other reviews, I am frankly amazed and appalled that this company is allowed to continue. I would be interested to know if they have ever managed to actually complete on a sale? Do not use for the sake of your financial and mental health!

This is now my 3rd review. I've just read a review by someone else who's had to buy an indemnity insurance? SNAP! Me too, seems like it's another one of their tactics for buying more time as I certainly don't need one! Their constant queries border on absolute stupidity and all designed to buy them time. I'm beginning to think that they absolutely don't know how to exchange contracts or complete on a sale, bunch of amateurs! I'm still in Spain, still at their mercy which they obviously enjoy. I wonder, who they would use if they were buying or selling, I can only hope that when they do that someone puts them through what everyone on trustpilot has had to endure.

Truly appalling

Truly appalling. All the bad reviews sum them up. Avoid. They will probably respond by saying I wasn’t their client (thank god!) but my buyer used them and deeply regretted it. I threatened to pull out when Countrywide kept delaying exchange of contracts, especially when they said they were still waiting on an ID check! They come across as employing junior staff to adopt a tick box approach without applying any common sense, adopting delaying tactics if senior staff aren’t available to sign off moving to the next tick box, and raising issues to try to justify fees or extra costs. They almost cost me my sale and my sanity, they wasted time and cost me money by getting me to agree to pay for totally useless indemnity insurance for a risk that didn’t exist!! My buyer promised to post a review warning others to avoid them, and I’m doing the same to protect other people from believing the glowing reviews on their website. They really are TRULY APPALLING!

Very impressed with Countrywide…

We were very impressed with Countrywide Conveyancing, especially our personal lawyer. They managed to get us through sale, purchase and completion within 3 months, communicating well with us, and giving good advice when asked. There were issues in the chain that came up towards the end, but the foresight and experience of our lawyer meant we still were able to move on time. Had it not been for the actions of the lawyer in getting the funds released from the bank sooner, the exchange and completion would not have taken place before the stamp duty increase. This alone justifies the rating we have given. Thank you so much, Countrywide.

CWPL - unprofessional/rude/uncaring DO NOT INSTRUCT

CWPL are acting for the vendor of the property my mother, who is 90 years of age, is buying. We were hoping to complete before the end of September 21 having started the process a few months ago. The estate agent who is acting confirms the vendor has supplied all the information he can yet still they haven’t communicated anything with our solicitor. As Mum is downsizing she has sold furniture in preparation of the move, even her large dining room table. She is currently eating off a tray on her lap. How awful that professional people can play with peoples lives. The money they receive for their service is costly, you need a solicitor to complete these transactions. I wouldn’t recommend these solicitors at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely Garbage

Absolutely Garbage. No Updates, no communication 8 months now and still no completion date for my home. Beyond a joke. Im sure even leaving this bad review won't even phase them because there reviews are already that bad.
Something that could probably be resolved in 5 mins in a simple phone call potentially jeperdising the purchase of my first home and forcing me to pull out due to my partner being heavily pregnant now.
Believe it or not she wasnt even pregnant at the time of sale agreemant.

Edit to the review I have previously provided. Here we are with one and a half working days left before Completion and I have hears nothing at all. I have sent several messages on their portal (absokute joke), called but got through to voicemail, and written an email to the one actual email address I have and NOTHING. We have absolutely no visibility what the final proceeds of our sale will be after deductions and therefore I have no idea of any additional funds I need to pay towards our sale - did I mention it is one and a half working days until we complete?
AGAIN - DO NOT USE - I WILL BE MAKING A CLAIM FOR NEGLIGENCE AGAINST THIS FIRM WHICH WILL IMPACT THEIR PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY POLICY. I WOUKD URGE ANYONE SUFFERING AS A RESULT OF COUNTRYWIDE'S GROSS INCOMPEYENCE TO DO THE SAME AND REPORT THEM TO THE SRA (SOLICITORS REGULATORY AUTHORITY).

Avoid this company for your mental health.

I'm currently 23 weeks into my chain free purchase and the searches still haven't been fully completed. This is my first house buy and I honeslty wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. Both ends are using Countrywide which I thought would be quicker. Nobody ever replies to the online portal, nobody ever replies to emails. Eveytime I speak to them on the phone they don't have a care in the world as you're just another joke to them. They always say "we've been busy with other customers". That's pretty much saying you're not important to them at all.

Three times answers have been requested and sent back wrong. That three times has taken up months of waiting. I just don't know how they're allowed to keep functioning as a company and allowed to treat people like this.

This company clearly cares about money only and just takes on too much work. My mental health has dropped drastically through this company. For the sake of your sanity do not use this company.

Avoid like the plague!

This is coming from the perspective of someone whose solicitor was forced to deal with this trash of a company. Deepest sympathy to anyone for who they are actually your conveyancers! The conveyancing arm of this company is just one aspect of who they are. They own 60 estate agents brands across the UK so little surprise that they come as the recommended conveyancers for these 60! They don't answer the phone and sit on requests for information for weeks at a time. When my own solicitor heard who he was going to have to deal with to complete our purchase he was somewhat dismayed. When he'd dealt with them in the past they were slow and unresponsive. Seemingly nothing has changed. If you are unfortunate enough to already be stuck with them they do have a FB page, Countrywide PLC, that you can access and then send them messages on Messenger. TBF when I did contact them on Messenger the responder said they would intervene and something did, finally, happen.

Awful!!!!

If I was possible to give it zero stars then that would be the case!! I strongly advise anybody against using these conveyancers. They are absolutely awful, I had one of the worst experiences of my life due to this poor excuse for a conveyancing service!! Please do not use.....you will regret it! They have not got a clue, they do not respond to calls, emails, no contact whatsoever....!! Please use another company!!!

What a bunch of cowboys

What a bunch of cowboys. They should be shut down. We have a 2 year old and we don’t have anywhere to live because they are so incompetent they couldn’t stick to the completion date they agreed to.
Funny how they have a 4 star review on Google.. possibly some foul play going on there.

The sale of my house has been going on for 25 weeks now and the one and only time I have been able to speak to my property lawyer was because I lodged a complaint with the legal ombudsman. Shocking service. Avoid like the plague
