Intransparent, irreführend

Shop auf Schweiz gestellt, Preise in CHF bezahlt und im Shop wird eine Schweizer Geschäftsadresse von Dometic (Volketswil) ausgewiesen. Trotzdem erfolgte der Versand aus der EU mit nachträglichen Zoll- und Importkosten.
Weder im Bestellprozess noch in AGB oder FAQ findet sich ein klarer Hinweis darauf. Auf meine sachliche Nachfrage erhielt ich schliesslich keine Antwort mehr.
Für mich ist das irreführend, insbesondere bei den ohnehin bereits hohen Preisen. Transparenz sieht anders aus.

Criminals one and all

So all Dometic products have an identity code which should ensure replacing any faulty, broken parts should be a stroll in the park. But no,certainly not the case, making parts easily identifiable takes away the manufacturer's ability to control how you source such parts and their dealerships ability to profit from this. Too many examples to go into detail here but my latest frustrating attempt to replace a Seitz window with a Dometic approved supplier, having given them the supposedly unique product code have emailed back stating we need you to measure the cutout dimensions on the vehicle, the dimensions of the window itself and as many pictures as possible.. Inspires confidence don't you think? Buy our superior products, drive away today, we have your money. He he now you are on your own.

More trouble with Dometic

We ordered a Dometic Seitz Heki 2 roof hatch from Dometic through Amazon. On that webpage it was informed 6 of them were in stock. The roof hatch was needed urgently so one was ordered. Next an e-mail from Dometic saying that delivery date would be communicated later. After 2 weeks after paying still no e-mail. But on website the announcement the product will be delivered March 5. 2 months after paying and ordering !!! This is not mentioned on the order page: to the contrary. It is suggested they are in stock but in fact the product is in Germany and probably they wait until they have enough orders to make it more profitable to send many from Germany to the USA in one shipment...
Second issue: in the USA Dometic sells this product for $ 1.500. While in Europe they sell it for $ 800....

Dometic rersponds to our text above saying to use a link to Dometic customer service. The link brings the customer to a complicated website of Dometic in Germany and it is in the German language. Impossible to find there assistance. It is a dead end street what Dometic here suggests. They sell the product on Amazon USA and the price is in US Dollars. When purchasing they do not inform it is coming from Germany and taking 2 months to deliver...

Terrible Customer Service

I have the Dometic water container and pump. The pump has been great (not worth the price when anything similar is 1/4th the price) but it connects to the water storage container. There is a CRACK in the interior of the container where the tube connects to the exterior pump. After several weeks of going back and forth because they don’t look at pictures submitted the first time, I finally thought I was getting the replacement part. What they sent was not remotely what we discussed. They don’t read, they don’t listen. They aren’t actually thinking about the details of how to help resolve an issue. It’s like a comedy show. I think they are just checking off a box. Now they won’t respond so I have little hope of using the product as described.

Garantiefall mit Ausrede Installationsfehler abgelehnt

Ich habe mich für ein Europäisches Qualitätsprodukt von einem Europäischen Händler und gegen ein Billigprodukt aus China entschieden. Ich habe das Gerät durch einen erfahrenen Fachmann einbauen lassen, der das Produkt absolut korrekt und fachmännisch eingebaut hat. Das Produkt hat leider nach drei, vier Wochen aufgehört zu funktionieren. Obwohl das Produkt an eine Werft in Italien geliefert wurde, war es nicht nicht möglich das defekte Produkt an der selben Adresse abholen zu lassen. Der Hersteller Dometic hat das Gerät dann demontiert und kaputt gemacht (Kupplungen abgeschnitten) und kein Garantiefall festegestellt. Es liege ein Installationsfehler des Fachmannes vor. Entweder lasse ich das Gerät welches sich in Garantie befindet für 448.56 € kostenpflichtig reparieren, was in etwa dem Neupreis dieses Gerätes entspricht oder es wird mir unrepariert (mit Defekt der von Dometic verursacht wurde, also mit den von Dometic abgeschnittenen Kupplungen) und kostenpflichtig zurückgesendet. In diesem Fall berechnet Dometic den Kostenvoranschlag mit 54,00 € zzgl. Versandkosten. Alternativ könnte ich es auch kostenlos entsorgen lassen. Nie mehr werde ich ein Produkt von Dometic oder Electrolux kaufen. Chinesische Produkte sind heute nicht nur viel günstiger als Europäische, sondern mittlerweile auch qualitativ hochwertiger.

When Warranty Words Become Empty Promises

How does Dometic Group expect anyone to trust their products when they can’t even stand behind them?

I bought a Front Runner 6-Cub Box Drawer with Cargo Sliding Top, barely a few weeks old and already falling apart. Ball bearings breaking, again and again, all within the two-year warranty they proudly advertise.

They’re willing to repair it for the umpteenth time…
…but not take the defective product back and refund me.

A warranty means responsibility, not excuses.
Apparently Dometic Group didn’t get that memo.

Büttner MT ICC 3000 SI-N-120A (im System mit MT LB 80)

In meinem Wohnmobil, in dem ich seit rund eineinhalb Jahren lebe und arbeite, war bereits ein Büttner MT ICC 3000 SI-N-120A als zentrale Stromversorgung verbaut. Nach dem nachträglichen Einbau des Büttner MT LB 80 Ladeboosters trat bei einem kurzen Testbetrieb eine deutliche Geruchsbildung („elektrischer Geruch“) aus dem ICC 3000 auf.

Vom Dometic-Büttner-Service wollte ich daraufhin zwei Dinge:

eine praxisnahe Lösung ohne wochenlangen Ausfall (ich bin komplett auf den Wechselrichter angewiesen),

eine verbindliche schriftliche Bestätigung, dass ICC 3000 und MT LB 80 gemeinsam auf einer Stromschiene betrieben werden dürfen.

Da ich keinerlei unkonventionelle oder kundenorientierte Lösung angeboten bekam, habe ich mir schließlich auf eigene Kosten einen zweiten, neuen ICC 3000 gekauft. Bevor ich diesen neuen Wechselrichter einbaue, wollte ich von Dometic-Büttner schriftlich bestätigt haben, dass der Betrieb mit dem MT LB 80 auf einer gemeinsamen Stromschiene zulässig ist – diese schriftliche Antwort habe ich trotz mehrfacher Nachfrage nie erhalten.

Stattdessen gab es nur starre Standardprozesse (Gerät ausbauen, einschicken, keine Werkstatt, kein Leihgerät, unklare Dauer) und nicht eingehaltene Rückrufzusagen.

Deshalb bewerte ich hier ausdrücklich nicht die reine Produktqualität, sondern den unzureichenden, schwerfälligen und kundenfernen Service von Dometic-Büttner.

Titel: Standardantwort statt echter Auseinandersetzung mit Kritik

Ich bewerte hier nicht noch einmal die Produkte, sondern ausdrücklich die Fähigkeit von Dometic, auf Kundenrezensionen und konkrete Servicekritik einzugehen.

Auf meine ausführliche Trustpilot-Rezension zum völlig unzureichenden technischen Service (ausbleibende Rückrufe, keine Lösungsvorschläge, keine schriftliche Freigabe zur Kombination ICC 3000 / MT LB 80 auf einer Stromschiene) habe ich eine generische Standardantwort auf Englisch erhalten.

Anstatt auf meine geschilderten Probleme mit der Dometic-/Büttner-Servicehotline einzugehen, verweist Dometic lediglich darauf, dass die Produkte nicht im eigenen Onlineshop verkauft würden und ich mich doch bitte an den Händler wenden soll. Genau das ist aber der Punkt:

Mein Anliegen betrifft eine technische Frage an den Hersteller,

meine Kritik richtete sich klar an den Dometic-/Büttner-Service,

und nicht an die Gewährleistungsabwicklung über den Händler.

Die Antwort zeigt für mich, dass meine Rezension offensichtlich nicht wirklich gelesen wurde und man sich inhaltlich nicht mit dem geschilderten Serviceversagen auseinandersetzt.

Fazit: Nicht nur der technische Support war in meinem Fall ein Totalausfall, auch die Reaktion auf meine Trustpilot-Rezension wirkt oberflächlich, am Thema vorbei und trägt nicht dazu bei, Vertrauen in den Hersteller zurückzugewinnen.

Terrible service - Avoid!!!

Terrible service - Avoid!
Always been a fan of Front Runner products and am generally a fan of anything German. However when a simple quality control issue snowballs when the customer care team don’t care whatsoever! I will never use them again.
Purchased a safe for my Ford Ranger and having booked it in to a garage to fit, imagine my amazement when they said the keys don’t fit the locks. This rendered the whole product useless and even worse my car was in the garage and the body shell drilled and rivnuts fitted.Cusuomer services gave mi a ticket but little else. Many phone calls and emails later I had no response or resolution other than they were working on a resolution. My last call resulted in them admitting the company was in chaos having been taken over by Dometic and couldn’t help me.
Despite being promised a refund I have received nothing.
Truly horrendous service, my advice is to avoid them like the plague and go down the ARB or RIVAL route unless you thrive on stress, disappointment and enjoy wasting your money on stuff you can’t use.

Not recommended

Dometic 320 rv toilet less than a year won't hold water in the tank. Dometic awning motor just won't work. Dometic seems to not really care. They continue selling both products knowing that they don't hold up. Poor quality. Poor customer service. I will avoid them as much as possible in the future. NOT recommended.

Purchased a Kampa Croyde 6 air tent…

Purchased a Kampa Croyde 6 air tent from Newquay Camping for approx £700. After 4/5 trips found several leaks in bedroom area and porch area. On inspection found waterproof lining coming away in several places. I was handed over to Dometic as they represent the Kampa UK market. Every email sent was fobbed as the tent was out of warranty, however in my opinion a tent should not be leaking in several places at just over a year old. Cannot recommend either Newquay Camping or Dometic as both the products and customer service are very poor.

Kühlschrank 4 mal defekt .... weder vom Händler noch hersteller des Fahrzeuges ist wirklich noch was zu erwarten trotz Garantie.... dometic hatte auf der caravan Messe versprochen sich selbst einzuschalten und einzusetzen... davon wurde auch nichts eingehalten.... wie mit kunden umgegangen wird im camping Bereich ist erschreckend.... Qualität miserabel.... nie wieder...

Customer service is what made my experience great. This summer, 2025, I purchased an ice chest/cooler from a local retailer. I got the patrol 20 for a discounted price and had it put away for a couple months before using it. Out of curiosity, because I had read some negative reviews about the cooler online, before using it, I decided to fill it with water to see if it leaked and lo and behold, it did. To make a long story short, I contacted customer service and the rep, Holly was very helpful and responsive. She sent me a new one, same model, different color. I received it and had the same issue. I contacted her again and she asked me to return the newer one back to Dometic for quality testing and in the meantime, she decided to upgrade me to a better one(Recon medium 41l)and it absolutely works great! Thank you Dometic and thank you Holly.

Unfreundliche Sachbearbeiterin

Unfreundliche Sachbearbeiter, Aussagen wie - gibts nicht oder wenden Sie sich an Ihren Händler (leider bankrott) sind anscheinend normal. Keine Chance auf irgendwelche Hilfe. Keine Ersatzteile für Campingstühle. Mitarbeiterin war bemüht das Telefonat so schnell wie möglich zu beenden. Ich werde zukünftig versuchen keine Produkte dieser Firma mehr zu kaufen.

Nach mehreren E-Mails mit diversen Stellen -(bitte wenden sich an diese, dann an jene Abteilung) konnte keine Lösung herbeigeführt werden- Hilfe wurde immer wieder angeboten, jedoch nur Blabla !!!

Sondermüll nach 30 monaten

Genau 30 Monate nach dem Kauf macht der Kühlschrank schlapp. Der Dometic HiPro Evolution N40S R für 443,25 EUR muss jetzt als Sondermüll entsorgt werden, da die Kühlleistung nicht mehr akzeptabel (18 Grad) ist. Nie wieder Dometic!
