The property description was misleading…
The property description was misleading and greatly exaggerated, especially as to the difficulty of the location. While the map was posted on the website it was difficult to see the detail showing how difficult the road was. It took us 40 minutes to drive to town, 17 km described as “convenient’ in the property description. We did not contact the agency before vacating the property as there was obviously nothing they could do to improve the road situation. We had chosen a Cortona location due to the proximity of the different places we wanted to visit, but we realized the additional road time would have made it a terrific burden for our travel plans. In addition, the property was not terribly clean and the furnishings worn and uncomfortable (the condition of the furnishing also being something the owner could not have fixed at that point.) The agency would not consider even a partial refund although we felt that we were painted a very different picture of what to expect.

We are sorry to hear that you found the location of your villa to be difficult. Unfortunately, Tuscan roads are well-known to be a bit more rustic and while this lends a romantic charm to the famously lovely countryside, it can be challenging for more nervous drivers.
We have written about this topic on our blog and if driving is a point of concern for a holiday, renters can always ask us for more details on distances and the type of road of the area - we are happy to provide deeper info.
As per our private conversation with you, our colleagues have pointed out that the position of the house is clearly visible on the map we publish and is shown to be set in the hills. Many of our guests seek it out for this very reason as it offers incredible views and tranquillity.
There is also little we can do about normal public roads, such as the one to Cortona from the villa in question, having bends in it as this is under the control of the local government.
When you left the property without informing us and only later contacted our team, we were left without any opportunity to try and resolve the issue and, as is clearly stated in our terms of service in your travel documents, this meant that it would not be possible to offer a refund.
We never want guests to be disappointed and are sorry that you were surprised but each destination and country has its own quirks and ways of doing things and roads that some drivers find challenging is a reality of visiting Tuscany.

Holiday house has been robbed
Holiday house has been robbed - our stay has been canceled after 3 days - I had to wait for more than 2 months and send multiple mails and calls to have a refund which wasn't even a gesture but a simple refund of the days we couldn't stay. No gesture, no apologies, nothing. Awful experience, never again.

As we said in our private correspondence, there is, unfortunately, an internal protocol that has to be followed in such instances. However, especially in high season, this process that involves multiple parties can take longer to resolve. This was the case in your situation, despite the best and dedicated efforts of our team.
We are sure this was very frustrating for you and we are sorry we couldn’t move the process along more quickly.
We always want our customers to have positive experiences and strive to make this happen. Some things are outside our control and this was an extraordinary circumstance that we would hope no guests would have to deal with.
In the end, we did ensure that you were refunded for the days that you could not enjoy of your holiday.
We regret that you had to endure a break-in while on holiday as this is an unusual experience that we wouldn’t wish on anyone and hope that all of your future vacations – with or without us – are less eventful and more relaxing.
