Not all professional advice is correct.
On the 22nd June 2026 I had toothache so I contacted Derby Street Dental Practice Bolton. I paid £49 to register the appointment. I was seen by a male dentist who said the tooth needed extracting and it would cost £120. While removing the tooth it snapped off just above the root. He then told me it would be a bigger job to remove it and suggested he would leave the root in and should not cause me any problems. Today 9th October 2026 I have had the root removed because it was starting to ache. It took 40 minutes to remove it and several stitches at a cost €160. The dentist said it should never have been left as it could eventually have caused an abscess.

Emerdency facilitates access to emergency dental appointments through our network of independent partner practices, whilst clinical assessments and treatment decisions remain the responsibility of the treating dentist.
It is important to clarify that retaining a fractured root fragment does not necessarily indicate inappropriate treatment. In certain clinical circumstances, particularly where further removal presents additional risks, leaving a root fragment in place may be a clinically appropriate decision.
We also note that over 3 months elapsed between your original extraction and the subsequent treatment. Retained root fragments can sometimes remain without causing symptoms for many years, although complications may subsequently develop and require further intervention. The fact that additional treatment became necessary does not, in itself, establish that the original clinical decision was incorrect.
A fair assessment would require consideration of the original clinical findings, radiographs and treatment records alongside any subsequent findings. Without these, it would be difficult to determine whether the original decision was appropriate.
Unfortunately, we were not made aware of any concerns following your original appointment until this review was published. Consequently, we did not have the opportunity to investigate the matter, liaise with the treating practice or explore what assistance could have been provided when your difficulties arose.
Since receiving your review, we have contacted you personally to acknowledge your concerns and discuss the circumstances. We appreciate your response and the opportunity to engage with you directly.
Whilst we cannot change what has already happened, we want to reassure you and other patients that we take such concerns seriously and always endeavour to assist wherever reasonably possible.

100% recommend this dentist practice
100% recommend this dentist practice. They fit me straight in and Dr Ali was so gentle and kind. I’ve never been with any dentist who treated me whilst I was in so much pain and made sure I was so comfortable and relaxed. They even checked up on me the next day to ensure I was ok!

Really solid dentistry applied whilst under duress from fractured tooth affecting gums down rhs of face. If you need emergency dentistry 128 dental are the bomb. On the day tooth removal in a flash. Problem solved.

Going to the dentist when already feeling distressed can be incredibly difficult, so it is especially reassuring to hear how calm and comfortable the dentist made you feel. Simple, intuitive and effective. You need a slot? Provide an address and boom, all available appointments, however be warned this will be private not NHS.

I would like to make a complaint about…stuff
I would like to make a complaint about my experience at the dental practice. This was my first time visiting the practice, and unfortunately, the woman working at reception, who was speaking Arabic, was very rude and spoke to me in a disrespectful and unpleasant manner.
The reception was not busy at the time, so I was particularly disappointed by the way I was treated. As a first-time patient, I expected to be welcomed and treated politely and with respect.
I found the experience very upsetting and disappointing. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and take my complaint seriously.
