Amazing Furniture, Extremely Disappointing Customer Service
The quality of our EQ3 sofa is amazing. Unfortunately, our customer service experience at EQ3 Liberty Village was the complete opposite.
We purchased two pieces from the sofa range for over $4,000, paid in full on June 10, while the fabric was completely out of stock. Despite EQ3 requiring full payment upfront, the sofa wasn’t delivered until August 12, and during that entire period I received zero proactive order updates from EQ3. Not once. Every update came because I chased someone myself.
My experience with Brenda, our salesperson, was disappointing from the beginning. Because of the size of our current space, I had questions and needed several quote revisions, but I found her increasingly disinterested. Much of the sale was completed by email, I had to follow up even to finalize payment, and once EQ3 had been paid in full, the communication essentially stopped.
When the sofa arrived fully packaged, I discovered that unpacking, assembly and packaging removal required an upgraded delivery service. This was never explained to me. EQ3 later produced a document containing my electronic signature stating that Room of Choice delivery had been selected. The signature is mine, but I do not recall seeing that particular page when signing electronically, and nobody explained the delivery options to me during the sales process.
We were left to unpack and assemble the sofa ourselves and deal with all the packaging and waste. Given the overall experience, we asked EQ3 for some form of compensation or even a discount toward the additional pieces we will be purchasing. They declined.
Despite numerous emails, not one person picked up the phone to speak with us. Instead, responses from Kyra, the store manager, largely consisted of policy language and technical explanations about why the order had been fulfilled correctly. In my experience, it felt more like justification than an attempt to take ownership of the customer experience.
The frustrating part is that we genuinely love the sofa and the quality is excellent. We have only purchased two pieces so far because of the limitations of our current space. When we move into a larger home next year, we intend to purchase additional pieces from the range and expand the sofa significantly.
So despite this experience, we are effectively going to have to spend considerably more with EQ3 to complete the configuration we originally envisioned. Those future purchases will be made directly through EQ3’s website rather than through the Liberty Village showroom.
Amazing furniture and a product we genuinely want more of. Unfortunately, based on our experience, the communication, service and after-sales care at EQ3 Liberty Village did not come close to matching the quality or the price point.
