We recently spoke to Michelle Dixon on the phone for 1 hour. We were told that the conversation would cost £495. After the phone call, we were sent a bill for another £500! Apparently, we were charged at the point of calling HKLaw to ask if they would take the case. This is absolute madness. How can they justify £1000 for a 1-hour phone call without warning! This is a scam.

The initial consultation with Matthew Hill was great and a letter was sent outlining the next steps. We paid a premium for this service. However, the family member involved said they’d be speaking to their solicitor to sort things out and we therefore put any further action on hold. The family member claimed this took place on 10th March 2026 and on that day I emailed Matthew Hills requesting a letter to be sent to the solicitor involved to confirm the action. We received no response. Then on 13th April 2026 my husband rang to request a phone call to discuss the matter again and was promised a call back. We never heard from him or any other employee so we took our business elsewhere. We also took our other business to the new solicitor.

Anna (and Linda) have been a hugely professional and dependable presence through a long and difficult property purchase. They showed real patience and resilience in repeatedly clarifying the correct legal position with other parties, often where it should have been straightforward. It’s been brilliant having them in my corner, and I feel completely confident they’ve protected me from issues that shouldn’t be mine to deal with.

Anna dealt with the sale of my property, I was very happy with the service, she kept me updated with how it was progressing and dealt with enquiries from the buyer very efficiently. I will definitely be using her again for my future purchase.

If you would like a firm to really screw up a property purchase HK Law is the one for you. I did not know, having successfully purchased a few properties in previous years using a predecessor firm, that a firm of solicitors with conveyance 'specialists' at partner level could make so many mistakes, be so incompetent, be so misleading, be so concealing of the truth and, when their errors came to light, be so arrogant. It was a costly experience. I'll be suing them for my losses.

HKLaw put a standard cut and paste reply to this on 5/1/26, copy below, which epitomises their approach - laziness and/or incompetence, no thought or intelligence applied...

I say this as they have the details in their system if they wished to look up my name and the date and could have reviewed that and provided a proper, thoughtful and tailored response without breaching any confidentialities. But no...

As I have said, if you would like a firm to really screw up HK Law is the one for you.... you can now see an example of that.

Fees did not change from original quote - no extra costs. Turnaround time from offer acceptance to completion was 10 weeks - which is pretty unheard of these days.
