I have deliberately delayed my review as I wanted to give an honest end to end account. After months of internet searching I was recommended HQ by a family friend. I did my research and booked a consultation. Xavier video called me to discuss, he was very professional and helpful. I then had a consultation with Dr Egan. I had a list of questions I wanted to ask. He assessed my hair loss and explained the types of treatment options. There was no hard sell, he just gave me the facts I needed to make an informed decision. I didn't feel at all pressured. My blood pressure was too high so I was told I would not be able to have the surgery until this went down. I was very disappointed, but also felt re assured that my health came first. I brought my BP down and sent my readings to Dr Egan. I then went back in February 2022. After all pre surgery checks were completed the big moment had come. The clinic staff are really lovely and I was quickly put at ease. I had my own room with my own toilet and sink adjoining the treatment room. Dr Egan was absolutely superb and the whole team worked tirelessly. It was a long day as my transplant was the biggest they do in one day, but I was very relaxed and watched netflix all day and fell asleep a few times too!.. Food and snacks were supplied throughout the day. The procedure itself was painless, just a tiny scratch for the local anasthetic. Before I left the clinic they said you're just starting you're journey. They were right. I followed the aftercare advice and they gave me a complete pack to go away with and my hair now after just shy of 5 months has nearly fully grown. It's not an instant result, but when you can see new healthy hair coming through its like magic and quite emotional. It's given me a new lease of life and I am starting to feel like me again. Thank you all very much at HQ Cardiff for you're professional and caring service (if I could give 6 stars I would!)

Decided to go for a consultation based on a friend's recommendation, rather sceptical, as I didn't believe the hair transplant procedure would be a overly professional operation, based on horror stories you read about.

However, from the moment I came in, very warm and welcoming staff, great consultations discussing my options and potential procedure.

Committed to a crown and hairline transplant and couldn't of been guided through it better.

Any question I had was answered, direct line to contact should any issue arise (none have) and knowing they are there to address any concerns is a major plus.

Would highly recommend to any man who is experiencing hair loss, even just for a consultation.

After a few years of watching my hair gradually thin out on top and with it diminishing self esteem, last Thursday I had a hair transplant at Head Quarters Hair Transplants.

I had tried other treatments previously to hide or disguise but to no avail and it was purely by chance, and definitely luck, that I saw their Instagram post in late November last year. Needless to say, I picked up the phone and took the plunge. Within a week I was enjoying a reassuring video consultation with Xavier Rush and another was arranged in person, a week later, with Dr Matt. Their knowledge, reassurance and professionalism instantly put me at ease; and I knew at that point that I’d made the right choice with no need to travel greater distances North, to London or even Europe.

On the day, Dr Matt took great care in explaining the entire process, what to expect at each stage and despite spending half the day looking at his feet; his bedside manner was always engaging and supportive. Despite some anxiety prior, which I felt was entirely natural, I always felt confident in Dr Matt throughout.

However, the procedure and aftercare is very much a team effort and the practice staff were universally exceptional. I was looked after from the minute I arrived at 8am to leaving some 10.5 hours later.

The team treated me to lunch, water and treats throughout the day to help keep my sugar levels up and took great care in ensuring my comfort. Even popping to M&S to grab me some dinner and avoid any unnecessary distractions on the way back to my hotel despite my poor film choice on Netflix.

Looking back, only 7 days post procedure, I am astonished with the results and cannot express my gratitude enough. Despite being a one-off procedure, I would have no hesitation in doing this all over again or recommending the team to anybody. I have no doubt that this is going to be a massive confidence booster and I hope this review goes someway to allaying any fears that others may have in reaching the same point.

In short…if you are considering a hair transplant, look no further. You cannot make a better choice!

An absolutely amazing process from start to finish , from the zoom call I had make me feel very welcome and reassuring to booking a face-to-face appointment with the doctor show me how my hairline will look after the procedure .

From there having The day of the operation turned up on time everything went really well The staff the receptionist the doctor everybody work there were exceptionally professional and courteous throughout , even supplying lunch and asking what dietary requirements I need .

When the operation was done the surgeon coming through took me througr the whole process give me helpful hints and tips and a care bag to take home with everything you need to maintain it for a week .

Went back the next day then to take the bandage off I check everything was okay , been up for a follow-up appointment for a hair wash was amazing as well .

I couldn’t recommend this place anymore if I tried . It’s handy for me because I live in Cardiff I didn’t have to travel abroad I could come home the same day and rest in my bed .

The results I’ve personally had are amazing I truly couldn’t be happier .

Whilst other reviews suggest HQ is great, sadly my experience was not.

Started to look into getting my hair fixed mid last year and found HQ across socials. Everything looked good from their website and enquired about starting the process of fixing my hair.

Initial consultation with Xavier went well, and everything seems to be good until it was the day of my face to face consultation with Dr Ted. The appointment was booked for late afternoon and my journey to Cardiff was an hour away by train. 30 minutes before the appointment I received a phone call to say that the appointment had to be cancelled and rescheduled. I understand these things happen but 30 minutes before an appointment doesn’t give many people time to change plans and adapt, resulting in a wasted time off work and expense getting to Cardiff.

Rescheduled consultation was arranged and again made my way to Cardiff, found HQ and was a little disappointed in the appearance of the clinic. Staff apologised and said they were going through renovations - Although somethings just didn’t look quite as they should. Waited for my appointment but this time Dr Ted was 35 minutes late, no apology and carried on as if nothing happened. Whilst the discussion went well and things seemed doable, it just didn’t leave a hugely professional impression.

After a few months to think over the decisions and make a choice I got back in touch with HQ to see if I could just get some follow up questions answers and was advised to book a telephone consultation with Dr Ted. Everything got booked and waited for the appointment to come around.

As this was important I took another afternoon of work and waited for the call that was scheduled late afternoon. But after waiting past the set appointment time for 30 minutes I lost faith. No phone call was made and again a huge waste of time. I got in touch with HQ via email and was met with an abrupt reply to say that Dr Ted had been in touch but no one answered by the Clinic Manager, again no apologies or explanation, more so I was wrong. We agreed to reschedule. I agreed and booked another appointment.

Same situation as before, afternoon was taken off and again no phone call. This time I called HQ Hair and was then told Dr Ted was running late and should be with me in the next 15 minutes. 25 minutes went by and again nothing. I called back and asked them to cancel the appointment. Two minutes after I called them to cancel I received the phone call that was meant to happen. I explained the situation to Dr Ted and how it feels incredibly unprofessional that no one could even reach out to me to say plans have changed or just to give me the heads up. Whilst Dr Ted did apologise, he also gave the reasoning for the issues due to the growing business. I understand growing a business can be demanding but this isn’t a worry that should be passed on to the client/customer.

When I phoned to cancel the phone call appointment that day I asked the lady on the phone to pass a message on to Xavier and to ask him to call me back… more than a month later.. still no phone call.

Again whilst other people have had great experience, this was my experience with HQ Hair transplant resulting in many days wasted, effort constantly from my side and a loss of money only to receive a poor email from the Clinic Manager and a complete lack of trust in HQ. Something like this costs a lot of money and has the power to change a persons life.

What you see on HQ’s website doesn’t quite align with what you get in person also. Whilst others have had great experiences I sadly haven’t… It pays to look around.

I was booked in for a FUE procedure on the 1st of October.
Due to mental health reasons I asked whether I could talk to Dr Ted for advice as I believed I was not in a fit state to go through with the procedure which was the next day. Dr Ted phoned and asked me some questions, he advised me to cancel.
Bearing in mind this was the day before the procedure, and no chance to find a replacement this advice shows how Dr Ted and HQ care about their customers, my health was put before any financial losses as a result of the cancellation.
I cannot thank HQ more for their professionalism, and care during this very difficult time for me, and would highly recommend HQ to anyone.
Again, I apologise to HQ for the last minute cancellation.

I must admit when I first started all of this i was nervous…. But from the very first interaction to the aftercare I’m getting now I have to say I wish I did it earlier!!! The team at HQ are beyond, I honestly felt like I was around old friends than having surgery.

Dr Ted was the most professional but reassuring surgeon I’ve ever met and the care he gives is beyond anything I imagined. From understanding I was nervous, and that I loved pirates, laying on the bed ‘overthinking’ the injection process he played pirates of the carribean theme for me. I instantly felt at home which sounds crazy but it was so personal. I didn’t feel a thing- and I’m a bit of a wimp! Haha. His methods are incredible.

Then team are just wonderful and they really care. Always checking in and looking after you. Throughout the whole procedure and even now a month after. I still feel close to them and couldn’t thank them more!

If you are ever in doubt about doing the procedure- book an appointment to just talk to dr Ted! Life changing!!

I apologise now to anyone for such a long read but I don’t want to miss out on any details for anyone who is considering having FUE treatment with HQ.

Last year I started looking into treatment after seeing the term FUE becoming more popular. I spent hours reading up on what is involved, looking at companies in the UK who perform it and trying to work out what my options were.

I came across HQ's website a few times, but it wasn't until I found their Instagram account that I saw some of the results from patients they had treated.

I reached out to someone who had used HQ and asked him some questions. He was very open, honest and hearing of his experience gave me the confidence to reach out for a consultation, after all, there's no harm in having a consultation to find out more information.

My first consultation was just after Christmas with Xavier. He discussed what options were available and showed me some examples of work that had been carried out. He came across very energetic, friendly and relaxed about what my next step was, there was no pressure from him for me to follow it up.

I emailed Xavier a few days later and said that I would like to meet Dr Ted Miln for an in-person consultation. He was also friendly, asked me lots of questions about myself, my family history and explained the treatments available. He came across as someone who was passionate about his work and I felt comfortable as soon as I'd met him.

I waited for a write up about our consultation and after receiving this, decided to go ahead with FUE at HQ. This was the only company I'd have a consultation with, and I felt that comfortable with them that I didn't need to speak to any other clinics.

My treatment took place in May and as I write this, I am currently five weeks post op.

What can I say about the day? Before I left home, I started to feel nervous, but as soon as I arrived and met Sam, any nerves disappeared. Sam took me to my own room, explained how the day would go, took some photos and shaved my hair ready for surgery.

Dr Ted came in not long after to see how I was doing and to discuss what my hairline would look like. I was very open to his opinion on this but even then, he ensured that I had my say so that I would be happy with the outcome.

The procedure was split into 3 stages. Each stage was completely pain free and even though I had been anxious about staying still for so long, went by relatively quick and easy.

In the morning sessions, I had some classic songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s to listen to but you can ask for any music you'd like and it helps to pass the time. In the afternoon session, I had free reign of Netflix and again this helped the time to pass by quickly.

For the entire day, I had food and drink provided to keep my sugar levels up and overall, it had a very calm, relaxing feel to it. All of the girls were friendly, talkative and I would imagine that if you were nervous, this would really help to calm you down.

Since my treatment, I have been back for two hair washes, my donor area has fully healed, and I haven’t experienced any discomfort or pain. For a week or two, I was able to experience what my new hairline would look like but now that I am five weeks in, I am currently experiencing the shedding phase. I know from research and speaking to HQ that this is normal and nothing to worry about, so I am being patient and waiting to see how it changes over the next 12 months.

Overall, I am delighted with how the day went and I am so glad that I went ahead with the treatment.

Everyone at HQ is friendly, attentive, and passionate about what they do. Dr Ted is truly remarkable at what he does, and you would struggle to find someone better.

The whole experience was so pleasant that if I had to do it all again, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to HQ.

Like others ive spent endless hours on the Internet looking at pictures of celebrities that have gone through the hair transplant process.
I was never worried about the procedure it was more the stigma of what others would think.
I decided to make some enquiries and booked a video call with Xavier.
This relaxed friendly conversation put me at ease immediately.
As a result i booked a consultation with Dr Ted to find out more.
The free consultation with Dr Ted really does set the tone for the whole journey.
We had a good discussion about why I wanted the procedure and how it was effecting my confidence. At no point did i feel as though I was being sold a product and i left knowing that my mind was made up. I booked as soon as I got home!

After researching potential places to go and considering having a hair transplant, I met with Xavier back in January 2020, I knew instantly that HQ was the place to go, I then met with Dr Ted and he filled me with confidence over the procedure.

I had my hair transplant back in October 2020 and since then my confidence has rocketed. Every month watching the progress of the growth has been phenomenal.

The team at HQ were professional, big shout out to Xavier, Dr Ted, Ciara, Sam and Chelsey for making the day the best it possibly could be.

After the procedure Dr Ted sent me on my way with detailed instruction on the after care process, his number and a strong new hairline. Dr Ted's attention to detail is second to none. I can't thank Dr Ted and HQ enough.

From start to finish the service I have been provided by HQ has been excellent. The first consultation with Xavier via video was very informative and answered all the questions I had regarding the procedure. Following that, the in person consultation with Dr Ted alleviated all concerns I may have had. Ted discussed all the options that were available and what he felt would be best for me considering all my individual factors - not just going for the procedure that would make them the most money. Ted and Xavier are both incredibly passionate about the hair loss and recovery journey and this really shows in their work.

The procedure itself was seamless, you are in and out in a day (subject to the number of grafts needed) and apart from a tiny stab for the first anaesthetic, the whole procedure is pain free. They provide you with lunch and the option of watching netflix or listening to music. The procedure was actually a very enjoyable and relaxing one. Ted and the girls are incredibly friendly and extremely good at what they do.

The after care has also been second to none. You are back in within a week to have your hair washed and cleaned by the girls. Then there are check ups every 3 months via FaceTime to ensure you're happy with what has been done and everything is going to plan. Ted is also incredibly helpful at all times, he provides you with his number and if you have any problems at all he is genuinely happy to be of assistance at any time!

I am now nearly 10 months post op and so far I am incredibly pleased with the results. I would recommend this to anyone who does not want to go bald just yet, it certainly gives you a new lease of life. I no longer have to worry about what my hair looks like when wet or if it's a windy day. To have that weight lifted is priceless - I would say though, you shouldn't do this for anyone else but yourself!

Even after the 12 months, they plan on continuing to provide support to you and ensuring that every step of the way you are happy. For me that was the most important thing, if you are going to do this you want the peace of mind that if something does go wrong, they're always on the end of the phone.

As I said, I couldn't recommend HQ highly enough and the transplant itself - if you're on the fence go for it and I can assure you, you won't regret it.

For a number of years I've been contemplating having a hair transplant however never plucked up enough courage until recently. After reading some reviews and doing some research I decided to send an email for a free consultation to HQ in Cardiff which was done over a video call. I was amazed firstly as I didn't expect Mr Xavier Rush (Ex Rugby All Black international) to be making the call. This showed me immediately that Mr Rush believed thoroughly in the company and the call felt a lot more personal which I appreciated. Mr Rush also spoke about his hair transplant so any questions were gladly answered which I felt reassured me. When I decided to then book a consultation with Dr Ted (surgeon who would be conducting the transplant), I felt that he had plenty of time for me, answered any questions and always asked if I was happy with any suggestions he was implementing. On the day of the surgery, I arrived at 8am. Met by the lovely staff at the front desk and taken to my own private clean spacious room. Shortly after I was asked to wear a gown and a member of staff kindly came in and shaved my hair (discussed with Dr Ted before this day). Had a few before photos taken then again met up with Dr Ted who explained everything. Dr Ted then took his time and sketched on a line where he beat thought a natural looking new hairline would be. We had one or two discussions however both happily agreed on what would be best. I entered the room around 9am for the procedure and it was over around 14:30 with lunch and toilet break in between. You have your own toilet so no worries about walking up and down the corridor in a gown. The day was an absolute breeze. Apart from a few small scratches where the needles go to numb the areas you don't feel a thing. Feet up, relax and listen to music or watch Netflix. Once Dr Ted had made room for the new hair to go and grafted new hairs from the side and back of my head, a team of around six lovely qualified ladies come in (two at a time, swap every 45 mins) and slowly start placing the new hair follicles back in their new place. I felt that the care and professionalism from start to finish at HQ was absolutely amazing. All staff, Dr Ted and Mr Rush were very down to earth and put their patients first. I'm only two days post op and feel great. My new hairline also looks brilliant. Big thanks again HQ. I look forward to the next year ahead. Would highly recommend.

Simply Superb service from the HQ team, from the first conversation with Xavier to the continuing communication I am having 4 weeks post-procedure with the staff and I am delighted with the result.

I was amazed by the meticulous attention to detail shown by all the staff, from the initial surgical procedure to remove the hairs, the investment in 4 technicians working concurrently to assess the quality and select the follicles, and the time to place, nothing was rushed and I felt at ease throughout the day watching Netflix from the surgical armchair.

I left with detailed instructions and a care pack and Dr Ted gave me his mobile number and I was able to contact him with queries as I recovered which was invaluable.

The clinic uses progressive technology for the extraction of hairs which is not on offer at other clinics, they are a serious disruptor in my view to the traditional Harley Street clinics, and the main thing they are BAHRS accredited.
