Don't pay, challenge - use this website's template letters

I got a final demand after not even receiving the first. Not only that, this second letter says you have 14 days to pay from the date of the letter. And I get it 7 days later which now means I only have 7 days to pay. This makes me wonder if I am being set up for failure?

So appeal. Use this website: search the net for parkingmateuk and use their template letters.

Don't think of private parking tickets as 'fines'
They're not. Private parking companies have no official right to fine you, though they may try to make you think they do. All they're doing is sending you a notice of what they deem to be a breach of contract.

It's worth reporting unfair tickets to the landowner.
If the parking firm which has issued your ticket has behaved particularly unfairly, it may be worth reporting it to the landowner, eg, a retailer or hospital, which employs it too.
It may be horrified at its antics and willing to intervene on your behalf to cancel the ticket

What does the Government say?
Minister for Levelling Up Neil O'Brien said: "Private firms issue roughly 22,000 parking tickets every day, often adopting a system of misleading and confusing signage, aggressive debt collection and unreasonable fees designed to extort money from motorists. [Our] new Code Of Practice will set out a clear vision with the interests of safe motorists at its heart, while cracking down on the worst offenders."

Also, new regulations mid 2023 hopefully says maximum they can charge is £50

bloody joke

just recieved a parking fine parked in a disabled bay says was not parked within designated bay markings. the photo shows i was just on the yellow line not over it on one side with no space as was a kerb the other side.i wasnt taking up a-2nd space. they must think i rode in on the last steam train. boy im gona hve fun with this.its not illegalto park on the line and i am disabled fgs so forgive me if i didnt get out-and measure the bloody space!

Do Not Use These Car Parks

We went to Beadnell Bay Northumberland for an afternoon at the beach. The beach car park was full so following the other car parking signs, we entered the HX Car Park. The options we had to pay for our parking were; ringing a number which just had an answer phone message and then cut off, downloading a payment app or going on the website- neither of which worked, our phones just buffered as they weren't receiving enough signal. On returning to the car after 15 frustrating minutes of trying to pay we saw another small sign which said we would incur a fine if we hadn't paid within the allotted time of 15 minutes! Consequently, we got in our car, left the car park, left Beadnell Bay never to return. What a DISGRACE this rip off parking firm are! we of course got a ticket through the post a few weeks later which we took to arbitration but lost - as HX car parks are very cunning in the way they display the parking information, they make it so difficult to pay to park, you don't notice their strategically hidden sign telling you your time is ticking down to receiving a £100 fine (£60 if you pay quickly and don't argue your case by going to arbitration). What an abhorrent firm - they should be shut down, shame on them!
Also, really bad for Beadnell Bay as we could have chosen to have parked on the grass verges for free like most other visitors but didn't want to add to the congestion- is this the best they can offer for car parking? We would have spent the afternoon there and spent our money with the local businesses but will not be going back!

Got fined for parking in a free parking lot???

I use the same parking lot 3 days a week to go to the gym. While I was at the gym, my wife called, and I had to run home quickly to fix an emergency. I return 28 minutes later to finish my workout. I was sent a £100 fine because I returned in less than 30 minutes?? That doesn't even make sense. Why is that a rule?

Disabled parking Whitley Bay

Disabled parking Whitley Bay
We went to park at Spanish City Whitley Bay. There was a white car parked across 3 disabled bays. He moved to let us park. The car was parked in a disabled bay with a Blue Badge clearly displayed.
Two days later we got a notice from HX car parking demanding £60
The number/website to make appeals on is inactive
The photo displayed shows our car on a public road, re road marking shown.
There was no time, date or location shown on the photo
This firm is scamming visitors to Whitley Bay, perhaps an official scam with the blessing of North Tyneside Council

Do not use these car parks

Do not use these car parks. I drove in in a VW campervan and parked next to another camper. Got out to pay to find out you have to pay on a app. I had to download the app which was slow due to not a lot of Wi-Fi. Then I tried to add my vehicle and it wouldn’t take it. I tried a few times and the asked another driver who came in in a camper. By the time I gave up and and left it could have been over 10 mins but I don’t know. They make it as difficult as possible to pay and I will avoid all these in the future. Just evil people.

On 3 Aug 22 my wife and I visited St Bees in Cumbria and parked on the only available parking area I could see close to the beach. I went to the parking machine, saw that the cost for one hour was £1.50, then £2.50 for two hours, etc. As we were only there for a short visit I tried for one hour at £1.50 but the machine kept putting £2.50 on the screen. I was that annoyed at the time it was taking me to obtain a ticket so decided I would pay the £2.50, in cash. The machine refused to take cash. As there was an alternative payment method of credit card I decided that was my option and so put in my credit card. I pressed the pay button and the machine issued me with (wait for it) a ticket for £25.00. I took details of the company, together with a photograph of the machine. I have since written to the company but have not received any response. Parkers beware.

Don't use this lot

Biggest rip of ever arrived to park went to machine had to down load ap which I did spent next 10 mins entering details reply back was could not park this type of vehicle here entered details again same thing after 20 mins gave up and drove off now received a pcn for 100 quid reduced to 60 if I pay quickly most expensive 24 mins ever do not use these under any circumstances rip of merchants appeal process having a laugh

Absolutely disgusted with this company…

Absolutely disgusted with this company and we will fight you all the way.

Recently attended a concert and parked in their almost derelict looking car park.

Tried to pay using the app several times but it wouldn’t work. Had to use the machine instead but had no cash. We walked the short distance to the nearest shop to generate some cash and paid for our ticket.

We received a fine from the company a few weeks later. We appealed snd had the ticket as proof but they denied our appeal because we were 9 minutes over the allotted 15 minute pay period.

THE ONLY REASON WE WERE LATE IS BECAUSE THEIR APP DIDN’T WORK!!!!!!!

HX Car Parking Charge Spanish City Genuine Error

Similar to a recent review I have read I visited Spanish City Restaurant with my elderly mum and family 15th July and unbeknown to us a vehicle obscured the payment machine for HX Management. We paid at the council machine (in obvious error) with proof and HX Management refused to consider our appeal! This experience has soured our visits (recent and consideration to future visits) and Spanish City would benefit from addressing this in some way

HX cark park management's business…

HX cark park management's business strategy makes illegal loan sharks interest payments seem very reasonable. If you are a minute late in returning to your car for the paid for period you will be fined £100. That equates to an annual interest rate of 525600 % for their 1 minute loss of income which is 2p for an hourly charge of £1.20 The notice charge I received showed photographs and the times I entered and left the car park but NOT the time I paid for the ticket. You have a 10 minute grace period after entering the car park before paying which you may need to find a space, read the legal conditions of the contract you allegedly have entered, find money for the antiquated coin machines which do not necessarily have contactless or card payment facilities, check that your registration number is accurately recorded ( apparently people have been fined £100 for a machine malfunction ). I would assume that a court would accept the time indicated on the parking ticket ( which you must retain } as the contracted time for parking which is considerably less than the ANPR recording. The best advice is to avoid any dealings with this company which shamelessly runs this extortion racket and instead lobby those who allow this practice on their land to get rid of the perpetrators.

Just got a ticket for not paying witin…

Just got a ticket for not paying witin 15 min of arrival. I was late 8 min as my payment didnt went through straight away as the ringgo app was messing about. Apealed first time and was declined , apealed to i IAS now. Will probably be declined again but I wont pay. No way. This is a robbery when you pay for service but apparently you dont, becouse you miss your time limit by 8min. It's a joke .

Do not use there car parks or take photos as proof. My experience of this company. I arrived I’m mexborough montague car park. On arrival in the photo I’m not even parked I’m just driving in, the letter says 09.27. I found a space easy, I wonder why, park up so it’s 9.34am I know this as I checked my car clock and my partner rang me on my mobile and I have an appointment at 10am at Specsavers lol. Went to the parking machine to get the ticket , entered my reg , noticed as usual these places don’t give change so scratted around to get exact money for two hour parking, then money would not go in so had to start again so eventually 1.60 paid ticket issued and expiry time is 11.46. Had my appointment paid for the glasses at 10.40am , quick trip in to home bargains and 5 min walk back to the car left at just before 10.50am Ticket received today 60.00 fine for arriving at 9.27.07 leaving at 10.44.28 . My ticket was on display at all times so completely baffled by this ticket. Of course today on receiving the letter you go online to appeal and it says unable to do this at this time. I have never had a fine, I always pay for parking, more than I probably need to but better safe than sorry however this company clearly have no moral scruples, luckily I have all the proof needed so I have the gps on my phone that shows me in the car park at my phone call time of 9.34am, the car park ticket I purchased which shows the price paid and the expiry time, oh and it’s funny they never show you a photo of you at there pay station and how long it took to get the ticket actually issued, the Specsavers email appointment time and the receipt of payment for purchased glasses and eye test at 10.40am, having gone then to another shop and walk back to my car it was later than on there ticket so clearly whatever timings they are working to are inaccurate however the clear fact is I paid for two hour parking and they are fining me for being parked 1 hour 47 minutes. All proof sent on to my relative who’s firm is a solicitors so one of his lawyers will take this further for me at no charge luckily therefore I can take it all the way and counter claim damages and any court costs. And I can assure them I will. I have also reported this firm to watchdog and I would strongly urge everyone else that has a genuine greivance to do so as once they have enough registered complaints they can then take action themselves. I believe there is also an ombudsman that covers this type of issue to which I will also make a complaint.These types of companies need to be held accountable and make sure there equipment is working correctly and that there photos are accurate to when the vehicle is actually parked up and not when it crosses the line of the property which is quite clearly the case here , unfortunately this company is probably not the only one like it as it’s easy money for them, the sickening thing is reading other reviews with disabled also being fined or elderly people who need that bit more time getting out of there vehicles then walking to the machines, reading the complicated instructions finding the correct money all within 10 mins crossing the photo shot line finding a space to suit can take 3-5 minutes of there allotted 10 minute slot. The large signs around the car park are clear, the pay here signs are clear but everything else is in small print on the machines . Keep giving bad reviews, keep giving this company no where to hide , sharks are still sharks no matter how many threatening letters they issue .

Scammers

Scammers. I had a PCN by post with a bogus photo of my car in a town I’ve never been to! At the time of the ‘offence’, my car was parked in my driveway. I also used it to drive to the swimming pool during the alleged period of ‘illegal’ parking. I researched parking provision at the location I was supposed to be in and there is NO paid parking there at all! I think I’m fairly savvy about scams and always research things but I can imagine that some people must be scared into paying up. Disgraceful that companies like this are allowed to operate.

I had a ticket

I had a ticket , all above board and while i was buying it the machine froze up allowing me to put in the first 2 digits of my reg - i kept the ticket and sent it to them when they fined me £60 two days later - lost the appeal and got my £60 cheque returned - now i owe the sharks £100 and i bought a damn ticket and they know that ! total bullies and con artists - something needs doing about people like like HX - times are hard enough and you can't reason them - if i could them less that one star i would - shameful and explotive bunch of rip off merchants

This company has no shame

My mother is disabled but she tries to walk as much as possible, had I known there was a 3 hour parking limit I would have made her go on her mobility scooter. By the time she had been round all the shops in the centre in Leeds it was 31mins over. I saw no signs so appealed to their better nature, sent copies of our receipts to show the times we were in the shops but no they have refused the appeal. I only hope if they have sick or elderly relatives they are treated better.

Council backed Theft

Was at a local Retail park. Went to B&Q to buy some skirting. Went home just to double check sizes as wasn't sure. Returned to B&Q bought the skirting. Went home. Few weeks later got a demanding letter with photos of my car that no return in 30mins. £60 fine. I didn't pay. Few weeks later another letter £100. Making all sorts of threats of court & credit score ratings. I paid the £100. I SHOULDN'T HAVE. You can park for 3 hours but no return in 30 minutes?. I was in the shop 10 minutes at most Went home & Returned 24 minutes later. Bought my items say 15 minutes. So in total about 49 minutes used in total time. 25 minutes of parking in the car park & the limit is 3 hours. So the no return within 30mins should be applied when the 3 hours is used in one go of parking over 2hrs 45 mins. These cameras can read your number plate & tell you when you arrive & leave. So if you only park for 25 minutes & return within 30 mins. You certainly ain't parked for 3 hours. A total disgrace & con. Stealing peoples money regardless of what they do. Designed to legally demand money on a Civil matter. Not buy law of the Courts. Theft. Totally disgusting. Will never pay these Fraudster a penny again or ant other similar companies.

PLEASE DO NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU INTO PAYING IF YOU HAVE A GOOD REASON.

Fined for being 6 mins over the allowed time to buy a ticket because I had a very poorly family member with me.
Went through the appeals process (which is pointless because it’s all done in house) basically told me even if I were 6 seconds over i would of been fined!
They sent me all the threatening letters of if you don’t pay NOW this and that will happen. Their solicitor sent me letters which were full of mistakes so I took them all the way to court.
Court day came, they didn’t show up and the judge laughed their evidence out of court and the fine was wiped off.
