UPDATE: Als vervolg op mijn review van 7 dagen geleden over JotaCafe en het niet terugstorten van de betaalde €300 borg het volgende:

Afgelopen donderdag kreeg ik zowaar via WhatsApp bericht van JotaCafe dat ze €150 van de €300 betaalde borg teruggestort hadden op mijn creditcard. Dat klopte.
De andere €150 borg stort JotaCafe niet terug omdat ik de scooter bij terugkomst op de luchthaven van Ibiza volgens JotaCafe op een niet daarvoor bestemde plek (illegal area) had geparkeerd/achtergelaten. Daarom moesten zij volgens het WhatsApp bericht, de scooter zelf verplaatsen en dat kostte volgens de huurvoorwaarden €150. Dus die kreeg ik niet terug.

Nu had ik gelukkig óók een overzichtsfoto gemaakt van wáár ik de scooter had opgehaald én achtergelaten. Gewoon keurig achtergelaten op nagenoeg dezelfde plek als ik de scooter 14 uur daarvoor had opgehaald....Keurig in de rij met ALLE andere huurscooters.
Je verzint het zelf niet wat JotaCafe allemaal verzint om je borg NIET te hoeven terug te betalen. Je betaalt zelfs een toeslag van €35 als je de scooter buiten kantoortijden terugbrengt. Waarom dan vraag ik me af. Alles gaat via WhatsApp en niemand die om 05.30 uur op de inleverplek staat (btw, ook niet bij ophalen).
JotaCafe uiteraard de foto gestuurd en het verzoek om de resterende €150 terug te storten. Het blijft echter weer angstvallig stil op de WhatsApp...
Dus maar weer mijn creditcard maatschappij geïnformeerd om de andere €150 als betwiste betaling in behandeling te nemen.

JotaCafe lijkt in beginsel een betrouwbare verhuurder. Helaas, achteraf blijkt dit niet zo te zijn. JotaCafe betaalt je borg NIET terug.
Ik heb in augustus bij JotaCafe online een scooter gehuurd op Ibizaluchthaven. Daarna ging al het contact via WhatsApp. Dat ging keurig en snel. Via WhatsApp moest ik ook via een link €300 borg betalen die ik na 10 dagen weer teruggestort zou krijgen. Foto's vooraf en achteraf gemaakt van de scooter en ingediend via WhatsApp. Na 12 dagen contact opgenomen wanneer de borg wordt teruggestort. Dit zou men nakijken. Daarna niets meer gehoord. Diverse keren via WhatsApp gevraag om teruggestorting. Ze reageren gewoon niet meer ondanks dat ze 'online' zijn.
Gezien alle reviews een slechte zaak dat een dergelijke verhuurder vrij spel heeft op Ibiza en toeristen zo een nare nasmaak aan Ibiza overhouden. Het zou fijn zijn als de lokale politie en het toeristen bureau JotaCafe zouden vereren met een bezoekje. Ik heb mijn creditcard maatschappij opdracht gegeven om deze borgbetaling als betwiste betaling aan te merken. Hopelijk lukt het dan om de €300 terug te krijgen.

Stay away! Scam! They will never return you the deposit.

Me and my frined rented two bikes from them.
They charged 300 euro deposit from each of us (600 euro in total) and refused to return it.
After we finished the rental, we sent photos of the bikes and everything was fine. We were informed that the deposits will be returned in 1 month if they receive no fines later.
They received no fines, but they refused to send us the deposits.
They said that we damaged the bikes, but we did not. All the damages bikes had were already made before us and we have supporting photos.

Muy mala experiencia. Me dieron una moto mucho peor que la que había alquilado. Despues tuve que andar por detras de ellos (dos semanas por lo menos, llamando sin parar)para que me dieran la compensación. Se conectaban al whatsapp y no me respondian… Un desastre

Me alquilaron una moto con chasis torcido y sin protector tubo escape que me provocó una quemadura en pierna. Se excusan diciendo tiene pegatina ITV (obviamente anterior, imposible pasar la ITV en el estado que estaba) No me han devuelto el dinero de la fianza. No contestan al chat. Denuncia en curso.

I had a terrible experience renting a motorcycle from Jota Cafe in Ibiza, and I want to warn others about their unprofessional practices. I rented a Honda CB250 and paid a 300€ deposit as a guarantee. After returning the bike in perfect condition, just before my flight, they refused to give me back the deposit, claiming they would refund it later. Even though they knew I was flying out, they didn’t seem to care.

It’s been TWO YEARS, and I’m still waiting for my deposit. I’ve sent them multiple messages through WhatsApp, and all I got were vague excuses. First, they asked for my name, then they said they would “check with their boss,” but they never followed through. Eventually, they just stopped responding altogether. Their customer service is extremely disappointing.

What I found very odd and concerning about Jota Cafe is that they don’t have an office. When I rented the bike, they brought it to me on the street, out of a gate that quickly closed behind them. It felt like they were hiding something, as they made sure I couldn’t see inside. The business is completely inaccessible, and it’s impossible to go inside. To rent or return the bike, you have to call them on the phone, and a person slips out of the gate to meet you. All the paperwork is done directly on the street, making the entire operation feel unprofessional and strange. It’s clear they don’t want customers knowing what’s going on behind the scenes.

I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with Jota Cafe, as their handling of deposits is very questionable. They are unreliable, and once they have your money, getting it back could be difficult. If you rent from them, be prepared to face potential challenges with the return of your deposit.

Avoid Jota Cafe if you don’t want to risk losing your money!

I had a terrible experience renting a scooter from Jota Coffee in Ibiza. They initially gave me the wrong vehicle, which was already in poor condition with damaged mirrors and other issues. To make matters worse, I ended up with a flat tire that rendered the scooter unusable for an entire day. Instead of offering any help or understanding, they charged me for the tire! The staff was incredibly rude, and their response time to any concerns was painfully slow. I strongly advise against renting from this place. Avoid at all costs."

Tuve una experiencia terrible al alquilar un scooter en Jota Coffee en Ibiza. Inicialmente, me entregaron un vehículo equivocado, que ya estaba en mal estado con los retrovisores dañados y otros problemas. Para empeorar las cosas, tuve un pinchazo que me dejó sin poder usar el scooter durante todo un día. En lugar de ofrecer ayuda o comprensión, ¡me cobraron por el neumático! WARNING! They don’t give back your deposit after you returned the bike. They make up a fake story about a insurance claim. When you ask them to provide information about the claim such as time, location, pictures. They cannot give you any information about the claim but they don’t give back your deposit. After you returned the bike its really hard to get in contact with them. They don’t replay on their emails or pick up the phone. Be aware of this. They are SCAMMING people.

Depuis mai 2024 a ce jour le 12 août la caution de 300€ n'est toujours pas remboursé. Belle escroquerie. Nous allons devoir aller en justice pour stopper ce genre d'entreprise

Warning: Jota Cafe Motorbikes – Potential Deposit Scam

I rented a scooter from Jota Cafe Motorbikes in Mallorca, and it has been a nightmare. Despite returning the scooter in perfect condition, the company has refused to return my deposit, claiming that they will hold it until another customer, who I am not responsible for, pays for damages to their rental. This is completely unreasonable and appears to be part of a larger pattern.

After doing some research, I discovered that I am not alone. Over 20 other customers have reported similar issues where their deposits were never returned, and they were given various excuses by Jota Cafe. This strongly suggests that the company may be running a deposit scam.

I want to warn others to be extremely cautious when dealing with Jota Cafe Motorbikes. If you choose to rent from them, be aware that you might never see your deposit again, regardless of whether you adhere to the rental agreement.

I’ve already reported this situation to the local consumer protection authorities and will continue to take further action. If you’ve had a similar experience, I encourage you to do the same.

Bottom Line: Avoid Jota Cafe Motorbikes if you value your money and want a hassle-free rental experience. There are plenty of other reputable rental companies in Mallorca—don't risk your hard-earned money with this one.

Pésima empresa, las motos están para el desguace y encima que no funcionan correos se quedan con la fianza. Pésima empresa y poca profesionalidad. Nada recomendable.

PESSIMA.IMBROGLIANO e NON RESTITUISCONO CAPARRA. Lo scooter Honda 125, 115000 Km era a pezzi e mi ha lasciato a piedi più volte.Uno schifo detto da un meccanico e possessore di scooter come me con 60 anni.
