First class result. No problems at att, no pain, a couple of days poor vision thereafter good vision and improving quickly.

From start to finish the service was excellent. The optometrist Cat was very professional and took so much time and care to get my prescription perfect. As I had laser surgery in the past the outcome would mean I would need a small prescription to read small print.
4 months later and I have perfect vision and do not require glasses.
This is life changing for me as I could never get glasses to fit comfortably and caused me so much stress over the years.
Surgeon Dr Ross was pretty amazing as well prescribing a unique pin hole lens which of course is the reason why my vision is so perfect.

I had confidence in and felt cared for by Mr Ross. His attitude, approach and care for me was excellent and much appreciated.

I recently had 2 cataract operations with Laser Vision. Both operations were trouble-free and the outcome in both eyes was excellent. All the appointments and instructions before the operations were given to me in detail by phone and in writing . Following each operation I was given written instructions on what to do and what not to do and details of an appointment for a check up. All the staff were very efficient and helpful. I would recommend Laser Vision.

From start to finish the attention I received was excellent. Each member of the team who I had contact with treated me with respect, care and consideration and even found time to make me laugh! Jonathon Ross was my surgeon, he was able to put me quickly at ease and allay my fears, answering all my questions and keeping me well informed. He had a lovely relaxed manner but clearly a very knowledgeable and capable surgeon. Post operation, I followed all the after care instructions and have had no trouble or pain with my eyes. Hello, I went for my consultation with some reserve, but everything was explained in detail and this gave me confidence to go ahead with the cataract operations. I had to have a Covid-19 test on the Monday, then self isolate before the first operation on the Friday. The pre-op procedure was thorough and operation itself professional and pain free. After a welcome tea and sandwich, I was given instructions for post-op care. My second operation was postponed, as I was not fit enough for the Covid-19 test. This was re-scheduled and was as smooth as the first. My grateful thanks to Mr Mantry and all the staff involved. J Liddle.

The whole experience was very professional, low wait times and an excellent surgeon. Mr Mantray was serene and very skilled. The aftercare wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Neither the procedure or the aftercare were painful! I would highly recommend!

After initial diagnosis of cloudy lenses on 23 Dec, I was referred to Laservision Scotland for treatment. Having been a previous customer for cataract surgery, I was happy to visit them again. Victoria, my first point of contact, acted swiftly on my needs and I subsequently had my procedure completed 12 days later. Victoria was friendly and professional and kept me completely informed, bearing in mind this was a holiday period. On the day of the procedure, I was met by John Fox, who I found to be extremely helpful and friendly and provided me with a full explanation of what was involved. Mr Sanjay Mantry then took over and completed the procedure. He dealt with me in his usual professional, efficient and friendly manner and took care to look after my specific needs checking on my well being. Overall, I am delighted with the outcome and would highly recommend Mr Mantry, his team and the folks at Laservision Scotland for their exceptional level of service.

Throughout my experience I engaged with a team of thoroughly professional, polite and caring people. From start to finish the process of consultation and subsequent seperate eye surgeries took less than month - outstanding,!

It’s now a year since I had cataract surgery on both eyes. It had got to the point where distinguishing small objects around the house was an effort and my opticians said that glasses could not improve my eyesight further. An investigation of statistics demonstrated that the number of people given the most basic and urgent cataract surgery on the NHS was microscopic. There are only two companies offering it in Edinburgh, one that operates through two Edinburgh hospitals and one that makes arrangements in Edinburgh for the surgery in Glasgow. I spent quite a bit of time with each before deciding.

I went with LaserVision (Spire), but for comparison I should first mention my experience with the other company and it’s Edinburgh high street consultation centre. Located in Queen Street, I attended their initial free consultation which, it turned out, is not with a surgeon but with an ophthalmologist. After a long wait he was ready and put me through several optical tests. He seemed unsure on his answers to several questions and appeared to go away and phone someone. The choice of lenses on offer seemed limited. Afterwards I was put in a room and given several pages to read and sign there and then, with the strong suggestion that I would miss the available surgery slot if I didn’t decide on the day. I was told that I would have about five minutes to talk to the surgeon immediately before the operation. Both eyes would be done the same day. Having some familiarity with sales techniques, I saw it as heavily geared to getting a fast signature so I declined. They phoned me subsequently, changing their advice on lenses, and saying I could pay for a discussion with a surgeon it that was what I really wanted. Eventually I told them I did not expect to pursue the matter with them but would phone them, not the other way round, if I changed my mind.

I made an appointment with Laser Vision Scotland. There are a choice of hospitals to attend for a free chat and some tests. I chose Shawfair Park (Spire). I went through two lots of tests, this time done very leisurely. After a bit of research I had selected Jonathan J. Ross as my first preference surgeon. In between the initial ophthalmology tests he also stopped by for a chat on the way back from an operation. He gave me his personal phone number and email. Several phone chats and long emails (I had many questions) ensued. All this was without charge and without the slightest pressure.

When I booked a formal one-to-one session with the surgeon, Mr Ross, he cleared my mind of any outstanding doubts – not an easy job as I can be very demanding. We talked for about 40 minutes or more – over the allotted time. We discussed the particular optimisation proposed for each eye and also lifestyle considerations. I told him I had decided to go ahead. He said that his policy was always to do each eye separately. It gives the patient time to adjust and the surgeon time to gauge response. I felt confidence in him, which I think turned out to be well justified. The Co-ordinator, Pauline was also exceptionally patient and helpful. Catriona, the Diagnostics Ophthalmologist, was very well-informed answering many queries on general eye health during the appointment. Everyone gave the impression of working well as a close team.

A friend accompanied me for each of the surgeries. An eye patch is worn for the first night following surgery (nice not to having to travel back from Glasgow with patches on both eyes!) The next morning felt miraculous. I could see a level of detail unaided that had been difficult even with spectacles. Colours were brighter, everything appeared sharper and more distinct. The operation to my surprise had been completely painless. There was a bit of a wait on the evening of the second operation as they were rather backed up, but the LaserVision waiting room is very comfy. There is a period of aftercare using eye-drops provided. I still use spectacles, as expected, but only for very tiny print in dim light rather than all the time (some of my work is exceedingly detailed) and the overall experience has been nothing short of life-changing.

I hope my experience may also assist other patients so I have tried to include enough detail to help you decide. As you probably gather, I would highly recommend Mr Ross and LaserVision Scotland based on my two operations, but make your own investigations.

(p.s. When marketing was stripped away, both the high street brand, and LaserVision would have cost exactly the same.)

Years later I don’t regret the experience though I’m constantly swapping between different glasses for close vision. I have a recurrent itch in one eye which may be unrelated to the surgery or may be the eyelid rubbing on the incision scar when my eyes are dry. I would still recommend the same surgeon in Edinburgh.

All the staff in particular Victoria were very helpful and managed to sort out for me an alternative hospital when the first one was unresponsive. The operation was a success and I have nothing but good words.

My mum needed urgent and complicated surgery. Dr Ross and his team pulled out all the stops, fitting around all her needs and saved her sight. I can’t rate them highly enough.

I had an excellent experience with Laser Vision Scotland. I found the process to be thoroughly professional and friendly and I have gained a considerable improvement in my everyday vision - from requiring very strong prescription glasses to managing the majority of time without assistance.
