Thank you for your feedback. We understand that seeing a pre-authorisation on your account can be frustrating.
M6toll pricing is based on the number of zones travelled through. When you tap your card at the toll plaza, you have not yet completed your journey, so we do not know the final toll amount. For this reason, a pre-authorisation for the maximum toll charge for your vehicle class is placed on your card.
Once you leave the road, your journey is calculated using your entry and exit points, the correct toll is charged, and the pre-authorisation is released by your card provider.
We appreciate your comments and hope this helps to explain why the pre-authorisation was applied.

The issue was almost resolved through talking…
The issue was resolved through talking to an advisor, however, I had to keep going back on emails as it seems elements were not updated on the system. At this moment I am still unsure if my account will be active and in credit as the email correspondence following the in person discussion on the phone dont reassure me.

Hi Pete, thanks for your review. The M6toll uses a different classificatioon to that of the DVLA and your vehcile is a class 4 due to it's height.

Unfairly priced but somewhat decent communication.
The contact was fine, but the process didn’t feel fair. I contacted as I had been charged twice and the process is that as they were 90 mins apart from each other (because I got lost) I would not qualify for a refund.
The only reason I haven’t rated it one star is because I got a response quickly.

Great Road, Disappointing Customer Service
We’re very frequent business users of the M6toll and have a Breeze Lite account. Generally, we’re very happy with the road itself and the benefits it provides — it saves us a considerable amount of time and is a service we use regularly.
Unfortunately, our recent experience with customer support has been disappointing. We were charged for a journey that we simply didn’t make. After contacting support, we got nowhere and a refund was refused.
We eventually disputed the transaction through our bank and received the money back, only for the amount to be debited from our account again almost immediately.
It’s frustrating because, as a frequent business customer, I would have expected a relatively straightforward incorrect charge to be investigated and resolved without this much hassle.
That said, I find it difficult to give M6toll a particularly low rating because our experience with the actual toll road is generally very good. It’s just a shame that the customer service on this occasion hasn’t matched the service we normally receive on the road itself.

Make sure you check what you were actually charged, no matter what the receipt says
It was concerning to (eventually, after a delay) see an online receipt for £12 for our car to enter the M6 toll, only to discover from our bank statement that we had actually been charged £20.20, which I think is the price charged for coaches.
Credit to M6toll.co.uk that they investigated, ascertained that a camera had become misaligned, and swiftly reimbursed us the difference.
However, I have to wonder how many other drivers were overcharged at that particular toll booth on that day - but haven't noticed the discrepancy.
It is evident that M6toll.co.uk either can't or won't run proactive checks (for instance against previous charges for the same vehicle reg) to ensure drivers are charged the right amount from go. Room for improvement, I think.
