Be aware
Be aware that if you are sick, injured, or have a family emergency no one cares. Even if you pay in full and can not complete the course you will not get your money back and the only way you get an extension is by paying another chunk of money. I wonder how many of these donations they receive? My guess is a lot and exactly why they have it set up like that. I am really disappointed.

There are many great teachers, find them elsewhere.
Update: as I’ve received a reply.
I could not update you while there was an issue because I had no access to internet. I did state on the very first email on Feb 8th that my internet had reset that day ( feb 8th).
Yes, you are correct I am not happy with the denial of a refund. This is why I have filed complaints against you through multiple consumer agencies. As well as asking for a refund from you multiple times. Since my review, I have had many unhappy “clients” reach out to me, I have encouraged everyone to file a complaint through their local BBB, the FTC and the New York Attorney Generals office.
There is policy and morality. A business that makes money routed on the oneness of the universe, preaches love and light and claims to be for all of the people, should be Scrutinized on their hold to policy versus morality. I was not an unhappy customer, I was someone who could not access the program. Now, I am a very unhappy customer. The person above me was not an unhappy customer, they were someone who lost a person they love during this pandemic.
Money is what feeds my family, it comes from my very small business that is built fully on integrity. I have not been unkind, rude, or even threatening. I have repeatedly asked for a full refund while repeatedly explaining how and why the program is not accessible.
I am a nēhinaw, Métis woman, a survivor and single mother. Everything that I am is my business, especially the way I communicate with customers. The way I hold myself and treat others is a direct reflection on what my business stands for. As it is yours.
Actions speak louder than words is a cliché for a reason. Your mission statement says one thing but your actions say another.
Original:
I was so excited to start the Total Transformation! I enjoyed the program for the first two weeks. Yet, January 5th my 3 children ended up on DL for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. Our internet couldn’t not handle the load of three kids and this program.
When I received a “please update your payment” email I responded with a quick, “ no, I won’t be updating, my children’s schooling has used up our internet and I was UNABLE to complete the program.” Yes, I could have made a better attempt at connecting but I was playing catch-up with my own business that has completely had to change during this past year, teaching three kids in three grades and running a homestead on my own.
So, March 5th $377 came off my prepaid credit card for the program. That $380 was my two weeks worth of groceries. It was a Saturday so it was apparently out of their customer service hours although, I’m not sure customer service exists. 8:41 Monday evening I received an email letting me know a refund was not available.
As I was searching the website for a physical address to accompany my BBB complaint I came across their mission statement. As an indigenous abuse survivor I find it laughable. There was not one ounce of Courtesy, kindness or compassion in our interactions. There has been nothing in this experience that said to me, “these are my people, these are the teachers I need, these people stand for what I stand for.”
This experience has ruined anything attached to Alanna’s name for me, forever.

I enjoyed learning about yoga and felt challenged. Very difficult to find students during a pandemic, I would have liked to see assigning yoga teacher students to other yoga teacher students at the same level or mentors to facilitate video exams. I felt mentorship could have been more supportive and present. As a prior instructor of anatomy I also think that having education in education is critical as teachers must learn how to teach and support their students different learning styles. I enjoyed the classes and I am glad I have completed them however in the area I will be teaching/coaching I would have liked to learn more about how to help survivors of trauma as yoga is effective for healing this issues. I am studying this on my own and have found that much of what I have learned I cannot use with these students. I would have liked to see some mention, even a small amount of how to treat this population and avoid re-traumatization since this issue is so prevalent in this country. Outside of this Great information.

Awful!
Awful!! Cancelled within the 7 day time line and they refuse to quit charging my card! I have contacted support multiple times and they say I did not meet the deadline so I will continue to be charged. I canceled because the videos were PAINFUL to watch and it was a TERRIBLE program
Buyer beware
Buyer beware. Terrible costumer service, updating policies and things midway without notification. No flexibility on extensions. Content is good. Just make sure if you do any classes/trainings with ample time remaining since the response time varies. It totally ruined the experience for me. Lesson learned though. I won’t be a repeat customer

I've just completed the 500hr yoga teacher training course online and I have been really impressed with the content of the course and the way it is structured etc. I was unsure about doing the course online and I researched quite a few courses. I'm so pleased I went with my instinct to go with Alanna. I've had a great time doing the course and have learnt so much.
The mentors are fantastic with their feedback and are prompt and helpful with their replies. If you're feeling a bit bewildered about all the different courses out there then I would wholly recommend this one.
I love this program and learned a lot
I love this program and learned a lot. I am very excited and ready to teach yoga. In this program everyone is ready to help you as soon as it’s possible. I never face any problems, I just email the Mentors as they get back to me and help me in every step I got stuck. So big Thanks to all Mentors in this program. I had a very good experience taking the online class.
So again Thanks to Alanna and all Mentors for giving me this big opportunity.🙏🙏

Excellent program
Excellent program, mentors are thorough and prompt with feedback and grading, and it was a perfect way to accomplish a long time goal of mine without having to take away from my full-time job. Would definitely recommend!
This program is beautiful
This YTT program is absolutely amazing and beautiful. So much insight, value and information. The mentors are always there to help with advise and feedback and respond quickly. They reply in a caring, kind and helpful way and it feels good that they are just as excited as you are during your experience. This program offers a sense of community to link you to fellow class mates and teachers so you are never alone. They offer live topics and classes to join. I would definitely recommend this yoga teaching training program. I have had a wonderful experience and received so much sincere guidance along the way.
I completed my 200 hr through the Pandemic
I completed my 200 hr course through the Pandemic. Absolutely loved it all. It is supposed to be challenging and you really need to be strict with finding time to put in the work. I felt great pride when finishing a few days ago and thank The Kaivalya Yoga Training Academy for all the effort, correcting/guidance and encouragement!

I spent $800 in July and never got to get started due to the crazy world we entered with the pandemic and teaching French and Spanish in a County High School. I also work part-time as an ESL teacher and I stupidly paid $800 to learn yoga and become certified. I worked hard to for this $800 course to no avail.
I knew I couldn’t finish the program and I tried numerous times to contact the Kaivalya School. No one. Ever. Replied. I emailed and again No. One. Ever. Replied. Perhaps you too were busy or pandemic overwhelmed?
I wouldn’t recommend you to anyone because I think of yoga as a kind and sympathetic practice but this company didn’t show me that.
Do not waste your hard earned money
Waste of $800.00 that I will never get back. The website is not user friendly at all and the IT point of contact was extremely rude and condescending on several occasions. The website and course outline are not in the same order as the book that goes along with it. This course was a huge disappointment for me, and I dropped it after about two months.
On a positive note, Alanna does a good job on her videos and has different level of yoga practitioners on her videos. The few mentors that I worked with did not appear to have a lot of time for me nor did they seem to be knowledgeable in their areas, but they were all kind and encouraging.

Unforeseen circumstances-COVID
Make sure you have time to complete your course. Long story short. I signed up for 200RYT when COVID began. Little did I know it would turn into a PANDEMIC. I was unable to start the program.
I'm a front line worker, unable to start my program. I kindly asked for an extension. I received a week. I work overtime hours at a nursing home, always exhausted. Especially during the holidays.
For a field that practices compassion, there was none. I wish your company the best. Down the drain $462 , well business is business. It would have been nice if they offered a partial refund because of unforseen circumstances.

The course work available at the…
The course work available at the advisertised price is inadequate to pass even the first anatomy test. I know the staff say that the course is doable in three months, however I think that would mean three months of studying full time or six months of possibly every day and getting your own material as well as buying more from them. It is true they bombard you with offers of more and more courses at more costs. And why after paying for a course putting a time to it? Also it says 200 hrs yoga, there is no yoga classes , or a very limited amount, some of them not even video but just voice and you need experience to follow them.
I would strongly advise against signing up to this course.

If you blindly follow along and have no questions, this could be the program for you!
I started the 300 hour program earnestly, as I am already a very active E-RYT 200 teacher (14 classes a week prior to COVID) and given the state of the world and the extra rime on my hands I thought the program seemed accessible, comprehensive, and the people friendly.
I enjoyed several lessons and modules, until it came time for adjustments. I have had many experiences (personal, and as a trauma-informed teacher) that made me questions if certain hands on adjustments could please be adjusted for me as I found them inappropriate for the model I had available (my teenage son) and myself. After several emails and no replies, I wrote to Alanna herself, no reply. This went on for a few weeks and I was sent an email stating I simply had to comply. Touching people on the inner thigh is seemingly always appropriate under all conditions. Period.
Well, that was enough for me. No regard for the issues I explained in great detail. $597 down the drain. They talk a big talk about how connected they are. Their FB page is fun, unless you have a question or disagree about something. Total waste of time and money.

Just a money machine, no care for students and their education.
Short story:
The ethics and the quality of The Kaivaya Yoga Method (TKYM) School are debatable. You pay to receive an education and services that you do not get at end. At least, I did not get them.
The School sent me a 200-hour certificate without giving me the opportunity to submit my final exam. They did it because I was being vocal about issues related to some changes that the School made to the assignment system.
The School did not give me access to the new Community platform although the life-access to the Community is part of the service you should get when you pay the $397 subscription.
I strongly advise against getting an education with TKMY School. They are not professional and not worthy of your time and money. Find a School that values your time, that really wants the best for your education, and that follows the yogic philosophy of respecting everyone’s opinion.
The founder of TKMY School (Alanna Kaivalya) and the mentors care only about having more money coming in.
******
Long Story:
I am concerned about the quality and ethics of The Kaivalya Yoga Method (TKYM) School. I purchased a 200-hour teacher training course and at the beginning it seemed great. The Community on Facebook was really active, and Alanna Kaivalya (the School founder) and the School mentors would have a live talk once a week where students could ask questions. I paid $397 which should give me life-access to the training content, life-access to the Community and mentors, and the possibility to complete the assignments in 6 months.
However, the TKYM School changed their assignment system, to fewer but different and longer assignments, and changed the final exam that went from 30-minute yoga class to a 60-minute one. Students that had already done some of the old assignments found themselves to re-do those assignments losing weeks of work.
I got in touch with the School’s mentors to inform them that, although these changes are welcome, students needed 2-week extension in order to adjust to these changes as many assignments that students have already passed were replaced by new and different ones and that a 60 min final class takes longer to prepare then a 30 minute one.
They refused to consider an extension although this put a lot of pressure on students, particularly those who were close to finishing the course. In fact, you need to complete the course in 6 months or pay another $397 to get 3-month extension. A lot of people (me included) couldn’t afford to pay or didn’t want to pay as we already paid to have access to the course, and we deserved to have the chance to finish it despite these changes that the School decided to make.
I managed to complete the assignments but still needed to submit and pass my final exam and had only one week left. I got in touch again with the mentors and expressed my concerns about the situation. They emailed me a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate with my name and “congratulated” me for getting the qualification. I still needed to submit and pass my final exam and I interpreted this gesture as a way to stop me sharing my concern. Besides being a disrespectful action (I worked hard for this training and I deserved the certificate for my ability to teach and not because I represent a threat to the TKYM “business philosophy”), I believe that it raises serious questions about the ethics and quality of this School.
Furthermore, students started to get vocal about the assignment situation on the Facebook group. Their posts were removed by the mentors and the Facebook page was archived with the results that students could not post on it anymore. The school’s team moved the community platform from Facebook to Mighty Networks but didn’t invite all the students. This happened 6 weeks ago, I asked explanations about five or six times and they answered saying that they had “technical issues”. I feel this is a controversial behaviour as it is stopping students to express their concerns.
I have seen this behaviour before on the Facebook group of the School. A person concerned about the lack of engagement of the School and Community with the Black Lives Matter movement was removed from the group for being vocal about it.

This is the most racist online yoga program
This is the most racist yoga training program! I did not feel welcome nor was it inclusive. I shared my opinions and got met with typical business “protocol speech”. This was literally when when we learned that Ahmaud Arbery was killed. I named that she should acknowledge what is happening with the shooting deaths of black people in our group since we are working on being teachers, healers and “ sharing love and light”. I named that we can’t do this work authentically without addressing the issues and using our practice to work through them. I suggested some meditations for healing and was met with resistance. They said they put up a post in the group to address what happened ( I guess they did their work) and it didn’t have a place in our online group. A ton of “well meaning yogi’s” tried to “show me how good” the owner and the program was, while continuing to dismiss my concerns and came to her defense. Nope. As a black woman, black issues always have a place, I don’t get to separate who I am because “the issue doesn’t fit”. I bet she is talking about BLM now, since it’s popular! Don’t waste your money, go to an in person training program that authentically supports BIPOC. I suggest you feel the real vibe and energy. I fell for the text book social media cash cow marketing method .... it works! This is a warning for people who really want to be apart of a genuine course that cares and acknowledges it’s black members. Unfortunately, I spent over $800 and didn’t use the service. No way could I watch and partake in the course after that response. Lesson learned.

Excellent training and support group on Facebook as well.
I learnt a lot from anatomically.
I would recommend 100% this course if you have little knowledge of yoga asanas and names.
As this is online course so its better if you are in yoga already..
Mentor and founder alanna kaivalya are best teachers.
Thanks for the program.
