Worst rental company ever. Nobody answers the phone. The online service is hardly ever available. They took my money and I ended up renting with budget car rentals instead

As you know we have spoken on the phone before your rental was due to be collected and before you wrote this review.

The reason you were unable to collect your car as you booked a basic package that came with £1205.00 deposit, that you did not want to pay.

We do two packages a basic one with a deposit or for complete piece of mind a premium package with full insurance and no deposit (exclusions apply) as you choose a basic package you need to pay the deposit and our agents cannot change this as explained over the phone to you

Total scam!

Total scam!

I rented a car in Greece (ATH) airport and when I arrived, the car was not there nor anyone from Movemee.
1. I tried the app which is useless.
2. I called the customer service which is in London and no one picks up the phone, EVER!!
3. I found a number on movemee website which claims to be a Greece office number but it is a Finland number!
4. I showed up next morning trying to look for the car or person or Movemee office. Nothing.
5. I finally received emails (not a call) claiming that a person was waiting at the airport but we did not find him. How the hell am I supposed to find someone without any phone number in an international airport!
6. Movemee told me they will not refund me the entire seven days worth of rental service because I could not find the person!
7. After much argument, I asked them to just charge one day and return rest of the money back to me but they said that is against their policy.

Summary: Renting thru movemee has ruined my family trip to Greece. Basically, because I could not (or Movemee agent) could not find eachother at the airport, I missed the rental car and they still charged the Full amount!. I don't know how they can operate like this. I paid for the car, they never gave me the car but they still charged the full amount. This is a total SCAM! stay away from these frauds!!

** I'm responding to your Movemee's response below because it does not let you reply to Movemee's response. My answer is...the App doesn't work! it does not let me add the information and the button is not functional. To resolve this, I called the customer support but nobody answers the phone and did not get back to me by phone although my phone number and email is clearly indicated. Secondly, if something went wrong the night of the pickup, that's acceptable, just give me the car the next morning, but Movemee told me that the car is no longer available and I will be charged the entire amount without any refund!! that is a typical case of scam!. Two weeks later and here we are still no refund. I rented and pay for the car, I expect to get a car or at least a refund but nothing! if you were in my situation, what would you think? I never got the service I paid for. I'm taking any possible legal action to get my refund and also writing terrible reviews at every opportunity I get in order to deter other people from getting scammed also. My email address is jinu90505gmail If you are not a scam, you should at least return 5 days of rental cost back and you can keep 1 day cost.

Thank you for taking the time to review us here at Move Mee, we listen, value and take on board all customer feedback.
I have investigated your comments and having spoken to our partners in Athens Zotalis Cars, who have advised that the car was available at the Airport outside departures at gate 4 and they have sent us dated pictures as evidence to prove this.

However, you would not have seen this in the App as you had not competed the pre-collection checklist before the collection time as per the terms and conditions of the booking, which require you to add a credit card to the app and upload your driving licence and ID enabling you to legally rent a car, then 15 minutes before collection the App then tells you the location of the car. All I can find on our records is an email from yourself saying after the collection time, stating that you were delayed and have gone to your hotel.

One of our agents has emailed you for further information so we can look into further.

Fuyez pauvres fous !!!! N'utilisez pas cette application, elle vous fera plus de mal que de bien. Cette application n'est pas finie, bug et n'est pas du tout à la hauteur du service qu'elle prétend donner. En plein mois d'août, mois auquel on s'attend que l'application soit au top de son fonctionnement, celle-ci ne marche tout simplement pas. Bien que réactive au début, l'assistance n'assiste rien du tout et vous fait poiroter pour rien. En raison de leur incompétence, j'ai perdu l'argent de ma réservation, sans pouvoir être remboursé. Une seule chose à faire, supprimer cette application et en parler autour de moi pour éviter que les personnes ne se fassent avoir.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to review us here at Move Mee.

I completely understand your frustration with regards to the experience you have faced at the collection time of the booking and I am sorry to hear you was not able to collect the car.

I have now investigated this and I can see that you made a basic booking for which a credit card is required for the deposit on the booking and to keep on file in case of any fines or toll fees that you may get whilst renting for a minimum of 6 months after the rental end date.

As this booking was made through a third party, we have checked with our partners and we can see that they have advised you the credit card would be required for the collection.

On further investigation we can see that you have been in contact via email, to which the agent was very responsive and offering solutions to assist in the completion of the ID and card and also as you had no credit card we offered you to upgrade the booking to a premium package which allows the use of a debit card which was refused.

You then advised us you booked elsewhere and had requested a refund, as the booking was made through a third party booking agent we advised that you would need to contact them as they hold the funds for your booking.

At Move Mee we will always try and find a solution to provide the car but in cases such as the use of debit cards on Basic packages the only option is to upgrade to premium to waive the liability on the booking. (this is not available in all locations)

Worst rental company EVER

We rented a car on Move Mee for our holidays in Greece from the 2nd to 8th of August 2021.

We arrived at Athens airport during night time and it was a nightmare to locate the car. We called Move Mee support number but nobody answered. From the begining, we realized we were left alone, in the dark, and the Move Mee application was useless because it does not allow the geolocation of the car.... It's just a google map point of the airport parking.

Few hours later, we found the car and it was a big surprise to see that the gas tank was empty !!! We had just enough gas to drive to the nearest gas station and refuel the car.

70€ to refuel and 2h lost, thanks.

Usually when you rent a car, you expect to have the full, or at least half of the gas tank. Not EMPTY!

Hold on, because the real troubles began after that...

We drove to the closest hotel for the night, and in the morning, when we took the car for a 2h trip to go to our Airbnb we rented for the week, we realized the car was overheating....

The car was overheating so bad, we had to do an emergency stop along the motorway, it was very dangerous !!

After some quick Google research (disable the A/C and put the heat to max), we found a way to drive to the nearest car service center to ask for help. It was the most horrible drive ever because in was more than 50°C in the car (maximum cabin heating to reduce the over heating of the engine).

The car was then checked by a professional and they told us it was very dangerous to drive it because the air cooling of the engine was not working.

We called the Move Mee road assistance, unsuccessfully, no one answered.

We called the Move Mee support, and they managed to have the road assistance to come to us, to take care of the car.

3h hours later, under the 45°C heat wave of Greece, near the forest fires close to Athens, we were still waiting for the road assistance. They never came! Never!

We decided to finally left the car and we noted the GPS coordinates to send it to Move Mee for a later pickup and we arranged to book another car from a better rental company.

Our trip then, went smoothly!

10 days later, we are still waiting for our full refund because we did not use the car.

We are still waiting for the 70€ gas refund as well.

We are calling Move Mee every 2 days and we sent 2 emails but we are still waiting for the refund or any indication.

We still don't know if they managed to locate the car.

I strongly advise to avoid this company, this is a full scam, the call center is always busy and they do not know how to take care of their customers.

Just imagine, the car was so dangerous to drive, we had to abandon it, how is it possible in 2021 to allow that ???? Seriously???

Anyway, Move Mee, thank you for calling me as soon as possible, we would like to be refunded for the full week + extra gas.

As per our emails and telephone conversations, we are having issues with the GPS location at Athens and this is why the App states:

On arrival in Athens, Your car will be the car will be located outside the Departures terminal from before Gate 4 to the last parking after this gate –
If you are not able to locate the vehicle please call +302106640662 and the agent will advise the exact location of the car, as parking may have been limited and they may have had to park elsewhere.

As you arrived 1am and booked the car 4am with advance notice of you being early we may have been able to deliver earlier.

At the collection time your car was at gate 4 waiting for you as a contactless car company we do not have desk, apologises the car was not at least half full, we have spoken to our partners in Athens Zotalis Cars to ensure this does not happen for future customer.

The nearest fuelling station is in the airport grounds less than 1km for where the car was left, it sounds like you went to one further away.

All our cars are cleaned and checked out before renting and I am sorry to hear that your car rental developed a fault after collection.

As you know during your rental fires were raging throughout Greece and this put a strain on all services including breakdown services, this is something that even with the best of advance planning we are unable to control.

As promised on your first contact we would look into the issues that you had, but we have to give Zotalis cars up to 14 days to reply, especially, we still have not been able to get to the car, to see what was wrong with the car and we certainly do not rent out dangerous cars, we check them all before renting, the temperatures were extreme in Greece and from looking at the pictures you sent the fires were close, both things can effect a car at any time.

As per our email we have refunded in full you’re booking and the fuel, within the 14 days as promised.

I am glad to read that you still had a great holiday.

Worst car rental company ever. Sorry but runaway please. We rent 2 cars for our trip to Greece and it has been the most complicated trip ever in my life because of Move mee.
First thing to know is that nobody can help you out of working hours in the UK. So when you land in Greece at 1am, you need to wait until 11am that somebody wakes up and pick up the phone to help you. THERE IS NO F****** PHONE OR MAIL SERVICE

Their cars opens with an app. But OMG it’s so s**t!! Bug & crash all the time, can’t validate your document without the help of somebody in UK office (so when it’s 1am guess what’s happening ?)

So we have been able to get 1 of our 2 cars. The second has been cancel because I couldn’t get it at 4am with the app that didn’t work lol

We found another car with another company and it was ok. However the move mee car (which was fuel empty by the way) had «overheating engine» alert after 30min of driving. We went to a garage that told us we need to repair it. And that would take 24h.

So we needed to find another car from another company. I will stop there as it’s only the beginning of our story but it’s really difficult

Move mee please, I know you begin, you are like a startup but come on it’s only a matter of management decision, hire some guys that would answer the phone 24/7 and hire a good developer to get your app correctly it will not cost a fortune and will save your brand.

As part of the booking process, you select the time and date for collection so we can check and prepare the cars as you arrived at 1am and you booked for 4am the car was not available until then.

At the booking stage we ask you to download the App and complete the ID section and put in your credit card, this is a vital part of the booking process and without it we are unable to rent a car as you would not be covered under any insurance as by law we can only rent to people that have a valid driving licence and ID.

As you did not complete any of this despite reminders the car was not available, and your booking is classed as a no show and no refund is due.
I am glad to read that your friend Benjamin did compete and did collect his car and you all had a great holiday.

Great and very good experience renting a car from Athene airport for 6 days.
The check in/out were fast and easy avoiding loosing time!

Overall you guys did a great job

Overall you guys did a great job.
Collecting the car was however pretty stressful.
It wasn't clear where it would be and in fact it wasn't on site for over an hour past the reserved time. The tank was nearly empty and the fuel gauge made that hard to see until the warning came on as we cruised down a motorway out of Athens!
That said, your guy on the scene - Leftericus (apologies for probable mis spelling) was super helpful when we could not get into the car!
The rest of our experience was really good and we appreciated you letting us drop off a couple of hours late in recompense for the pickup delays.

Fundamental Issues make the app useless

I had booked a car through the MoveMee app for pickup at Stansted airport. I did this to allow me to have a contactless pickup. So had provided all documentation, payment and deposit etc.

I flew to Stansted. The car was parked in a hotel car park about a 15 minute bus ride away. Unfortunately picking up the car was a bad experience. The free hotel shuttle bus wasn’t running and I had been given no prior warning of this even though it’s clear now that the bus hasn’t been running for some time since the hotel has been closed for months. I had sent my flight number to the local rental car company that supplied the car the day before pickup as requested. The alternative bus 510 wasn’t due for an hour so I began to wait at this bus stop (it’s not a free bus) but after 20 minutes I started getting notifications from the MoveMee app that I was late for the pickup. So instead I had to get a taxi to the hotel car park costing me £14.50.

When I got to the car the condition report on the app stated no damage but there was clear damage to the car. There’s no way to report the damage via the app so I had to go to the local rental car office as the customer support from MoveMee and is not very responsive. Luckily the office was open. Had it not been it wouldn’t be possible to pick up the car as it turned out that the allocated car wasn’t actually a keyless entry vehicle.

The staff at the local rental car company
were very friendly and helpful and made a bad situation much better so I thank them for that. There was a lot of confusion about the fact I’d already paid the deposit through the app. But this was not the staff’s fault as they have not been given the correct information/training with regards to the MoveMee pickup process. So it’s understandable they would query it.

It was so annoying that the free shuttle bus was not running and I was forced to pay for a taxi. Since I had to go to the local rental car company office, there seemed no point in using this middle man app if it doesn’t actually work. The car itself was fine in the end but I’ve given this one star review based on the failures of the MoveMee app. I’ve given a separate much more positive review for the local car rental company. I’d recommend to rent cars directly from the local rental car companies until this app fixes the issues otherwise you may get stuck at an airport.

Edit: The free shuttle bus doesn’t have temporary restrictions (most people would interpret that as less people allowed on the bus or it running less frequently). The service has been indefinitely cancelled. Please be straight with your customers.

Please use the following additional services to arrive at the Novotel Hotel which is on the Airport Campus

Or take Bus 510 at stop 16/17 Airport Terminal, tell driver Novotel Hotel, 3-minute walk from Bus stop to Novotel)

Hopefully with the lifting of restrictions the full shuttle bus will be back in service soon.

The booking you made was a priority booking rather than a keyless booking, (we offer both services) which mean that you just need to pop in the office, by-pass any queues and they should pass you the key, apologises this did not happen Greenmotion Stanstead is a new location for us, and we have passed on your comments, so this does not happen for future customers.

I am glad to read how helpful our new partners were on getting you on the road, they should have also pointed you too use the app as this is required as part of the checkout process as once you have signed the rental agreement, via the App it will ask you to take a picture of all four corners of the car then moves on to any specific damages that you may find.

When returning the car, you reverse the process as this then proves if the car was damaged whilst you are renting or pre-existing damage.

I have checked your booking and no damage was recorded and released your deposit

A problem validating ID

"There was a problem validating your ID, please contact customer support". But there is nothing to hear by phone, very bad connection.
And my rental starts tomorrow!

Nobody answers my question and solve the problem.

Good concept but needs improvement

1) More up-to-date and accurate information about where to pick up the car and where to drop it off (we spent an hour up and down the Athens airport looking for the car in the scorching sun and trying to communicate with customer services with poor mobile signal). A field in the app that specifies the car's location and is updated by your local partners would help a lot.

2) The app has many bugs that need to be fixed. Frequently getting errors, and especially after completing long forms (ex. the whole check-out process with the photos) is disturbing. The developers need to do more testing and debugging.

3) I don't like the fuel policy of having to return it with the same amount of fuel that you found it. First, when we finally located the car all the fuel bars were empty, and we were worried if we would even make it to the gas station. Second, on the way back you end up filling it up with small amounts to avoid overpaying as there is no refund for extra fuel, trying to calculate how much fuel you will need and again being worried of running out for fuel. A better policy would be: pick it up with a full tank and return it with a full tank. Simple stuff.

4) The car was very clean and in new condition, which was a positive. There was no windshield fluid though.

Overall it was a mixed-to-positive experience. Mixed because we had all these problems. Positive because in the end everything worked out fine and we enjoyed the car.

I would recommend it, but only if you're willing to face a couple of glitches.

It's a startup and I hope it will improve in the future.

Application doesn't work on Android…

Application doesn't work on Android phone in Greece. Unable to complete the pre-collection check-list. Email support also does not work from the app.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thought, our App works on most up to date Android and Apple phones, however some phones that do not pass google play security standards so as per our telephone conversations, this is the reason you could not find it on google play.

Apologies your Remi phone did not meet googles standards, but newer versions are compatible.

I have investigated your booking and can see that you did not enter you card details or complete the ID into our App as requested with your confirmation booking and follow up chase emails, this is a vital part of the booking process and as advised need to be completed 24 hours before your collection and was the reason you could not find the car.

As you did not have a credit card for your booking to pay the deposit our partners in Athens offered you an alternative by paying for full insurance and no deposit with unlimited millage.

I am glad to see that you collected the car and hope you had a fantastic trip.
