Very enjoyable, just done the Newcastle one today, my only gripe would be take care if ur doing the Newcastle one as it takes around a few shady areas where a few dodgy characters can be found, I have to have my wits about me as we got followed by a very shady person who I think may have tried to mug us however he knew we were on to him.

Ordered the Mystery guide online, and it arrived safe and sound as expected. Bit the bullet and travelled to Southampton with the family to give the guide a go.

The walk was quite nice, and the map of where to go was easy to follow (as long as you ignore the written directions which were not accurate), but the clues were ridiculously easy. Most were very simple word anagrams, which my 11 year old could solve without even looking for the various plaque/sign/monuments you were supposed to be seeing. One of the buildings was inaccessible due to scaffolding, but the answer to the clue was obvious so it didn't impede progress. The book was nicely printed, and the pen was a good bookmark...

Overall, 'disappointing' would sum up the experience in my opinion.

On a side note, the Southampton mystery guide is NOT wheelchair friendly as advertised. There is an unavoidable flight of very steep stairs.

We visited Southampton last week and followed the Titanic Mystery Adventure. We had a lovely day exploring the city and saw things and visited areas of the city that we would not have noticed without doing this trail.
However, some of the directions were not very clear to follow and also some clues were vague and we were unsure exactly what we were looking for.
We did the Cardiff trail a few months ago which was very enjoyable and somewhat less vague with regard to both clues and directions on the whole.
We are seasoned mystery trailers and have done many such outings with Treasure Trails; these too can sometimes have their difficulties, but I think on the whole they are clearer.
It is good to have a story to follow as it makes it fun and interesting but maybe less storytelling and more clarity on what you are actually looking for would be better.
The answers could also do with more information about their whereabouts etc, as it is always good to know how you could have found the answer if it was one that you couldn't find.
Good concept and nicely presented but needs some tweaking to improve the experience.

Three of us attempted the Leicester guide yesterday. We know our way around Leicester and followed the maps with ease. The same cannot be said for some of the clues. Some were logical and explained well, some weren’t explained and hard to complete. We still cannot work out clue 6. It wasn’t a great start when the first clue was outside the area marked on the map. The suspect and object were on the wall of the Globe. At least-when we had two suspects remaining because we couldn’t complete clue 6- we identified the suspect.

I first bought one of these as a present for someone else, but I then ordered the York Mystery Guide for myself, to tie in with a weekend away. My partner is really not a quiz or puzzle fan, so was definitely going along with it to humour me, but in the end he was the one who solved most of the clues! We have very different brains and a couple of the clues totally beat me, but he understood the ones I didn't, so it was a proper team effort, which made it much more enjoyable. I loved the fact that it showed you little things along the route that you probably wouldn't have spotted otherwise, which was brilliant. For us the *only* downside was that the directions for the first clue weren't clear to either of us and we actually had to walk around a bit and work out for ourselves where we were supposed to be, which didn't help to enthuse someone who hadn't been keen in the first place! :-D (And that is the only reason I haven't given this a 5-star review.) But once we were past that point it was great. Being able to pause for a break at any time was lovely, and a pub pit-stop gave us a chance to talk about what we'd seen so far. We're in our 50s and although the style of the guide is quite young (it reminded me of Horrible Histories), the clues were definitely not just suitable for younger people, because they were quite tricky and they made you think.

It's a great way to explore a place and find hidden gems about where you are, and I would absolutely do another one. Highly recommended as a fun few hours that you can do at your own pace. It's very clear that the creator of these guides loves what he is doing and has put a huge amount of care and effort into producing something interesting as well as entertaining. I'd certainly be very happy to receive another one of these as a gift!

4 of us did the Liverpool search for the Golden record today. I’d bought this a good 15 months ago, so was hoping that the clues were all still good (& they are, except one small temporary alteration- which is already recorded on the website)

We had a great afternoon chasing around (pity I ended up outside my office building as part of the route, but at least I didn’t have to go inside!) and even as a local, it gave me new insight into my daily surroundings.

What we didn’t expect was as many people as we saw clutching the very same mystery guide! There was one couple we followed round the first few clues, so we took a detour via one of the many bars. We then ran into 3 more at the next clue….. so we then simply embraced the popularity of the Liverpool mystery. We even ran into friends on the hunt. The finish is split into 2 locations - à shop and a bar if the shop is shut.

Loved it, the only question is where next?

I completely mucked up my order but Connie Brazier was able to sort it all out for me. The recipient of the Gift voucher is delighted - she's yet to choose her city but she's sure the whole family will really enjoy their Mystery Guide.

We had a great time doing the mystery tour of Liverpool. We have been many times before but this enhanced our most recent trip, taking us to places we’d never been to. The directions are spot on and we enjoyed our pub stop. I enjoyed it so much I bought 6 vouchers for Christmas presents. If you struggle with a clue (one of our was behind scaffolding) you can just log on & find out what it is. The company are great to deal with and answers queries straight away. I’ll definitely be getting another for myself

I ordered the mystery guide which should have been delivered within few days. I did not arrived on the designated day, and went I went on royal mail tracking site, I found a note that it will not be delivered, instead will be returned to sender dur to incorrect delivery address. I contacted the mystery guide website via the chat option, turns out I did not included my door number when I filled out the order!🤦 Within minutes I received an email from them that a replacement was send! Brilliant, quick and very efficient service! Happy customer so far ☺️

I ordered 2 books and auto fill put in the wrong postcode. Suddenly I live in Edinburgh instead of Greater Manchester. I was in a panic as I thought they would be dispatched the same day (Got the wrong 12.30 in my head).I emailed but it didn't ease the panic so I found a number and called them . It was 9.20 pm and I fully expected the call to go to answer phone. The call was picked up and this lovely guy immediately sorted out the mistake on my order. I felt so bad for calling so late and apologised, he was so nice and said it was fine and had been nice to chat 😊. Thank you for sorting out my problem (all I know is his sister is called Hazel) I'm sorry I should have asked your name. My books have arrived safely and I'm looking forward to handing them out at Christmas. Excellent customer service I would highly recommend this company 😊

Bad - don't trust their payment webpage.
After choosing & completing all the information, and paying via paypal, their payment page just kept going round and round forever.
Tried twice to call them on their phone 02393960195, but that lead to ansaphone.
They are a waste of time and money.
Avoid dealing with them.

These are my 'go to' present to someone who has moved to the area. A few weeks back someone moved about half an hour from Cambridge so we gave it as a gift and we decided to do it. You know it's good when 3 teenagers want to disown you as you are having fun (not disturbing others, just being 'old' and embarrassiny!).

Before this deployment they went to another where 5 burly men and 1 other man went as a knight of the round table, Robin Hood, a monk, a King, a slave (give you 3 guesses which one that was) and a jouster. They didn't care they got era's wrong, they still talk about it to this day and this is my go to present for people who have moved as I have not yet met a family who haven't had tremendous fun.

I ordered 4 guides . I had mistakenly ordered one wrong city. Emailed asking how to return and get correct city. Within 24 hours they had sent new city and said I could keep the incorrect city and gift it to someone who might use it. Brilliant customer service

I’ve done several of these Mystery Guides now, and I’ve loved every single one of them. Each one has taken me to places I’d probably never have visited otherwise, and they’ve encouraged me to really look around and appreciate the wonderful architecture and details that often get overshadowed by modern developments.

Every city has its own personality, and the stories and histories in each guide capture that perfectly — whether it’s the royal, genteel feel of Bath or the more down-to-earth, working-class character of Manchester.

The clues are always fun to solve - they range from relatively easy (which can lull you into a false sense of security, so beware!) to quite tricky at times. An extra pair of eyes would sometimes be handy (I often travel alone), but with a bit of persistence I can usually crack them - often with a “doh!” moment, followed by great satisfaction when I finally get it!

If you’re unsure about getting one of these books, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. They may not be huge, but it’s clear that a lot of work and research has gone into them — and I love the fun illustrations! For the price (about the same as a ticket to a smaller National Trust property), they provide at least three hours of really enjoyable entertainment, with some good pub suggestions along the way. They’re great fun to do solo, but I can imagine they’d be brilliant as a couple, family, or as a group activity.

I’m already looking forward to my next one!

We did this as a date and loved it! Though we've lived in London for a long time and knew the routes, the facts and history about the locations we stopped at were so niche and very interesting, so I think that was the aspect we most enjoyed. There were also a few pubs to enter for necessary clues, which we of course used as an excuse to make it a pub crawl! ;)

Overall we would highly recommend, and we are thinking of purchasing another either for London again, or to go with a weekend trip to another city.

Did the Nottingham Mystery with grandchildren. I have lived in Nottingham area for over 40 years but was surprised by how little I knew. Finished up at ******* and surprise surprise, the suspect had exactly the same name as my grandson who had appointed himself chief sleuth. That's right, it was +++++++. Well worth the money, great afternoon entertainment. 👏👏👏

I purchased the Manchester book for my partner's birthday. I really liked the idea, that you can do it in your own time whenever (they do recommend within 6 months of purchasing if case things change).

The book was packaged in a lovely envelope which starts the curious process. My partner didn't have a clue what this present was upon opening.

We got the local bus into Manchester and after an evening meal we spent 1.5 hours walking around reading the guide and answering the clues. It was fantastic. We haven't finished the mystery yet and will go back to complete it. Once we do complete it, we are going to do it again for our 5 year old to enjoy the experience. She's too young to understand it all, but will enjoy being involved in it.

I can't wait to try the other mystery guides available.
