Novemed is truly the best company in turkey, From the minute i enquired about the surgery to the aftercare was second to none , dr derci and his staff are truly angels the care and compassion from each and everyone of them was amazing, they even looked after my husband and made sure he was okay, honestly if I needed to go back and get this surgery again i definitely would and use novemed again , some nurses didn’t understand English but used google translate to communicate with me , nothing was ever too much hassle for them, DR Nerci even came in on his day off to see his patients ( wouldn’t get that care on the NHS )

Everything leading to my surgery went well. My surgery went well, hospital was amazing the staff was amazing.
Angela was the First Lady i spoke to she explained everything and was always a text away when I didn’t understand anything. Rose took over at some point but she was as helpful.
On my whatsapp group Sumeyra is always just a text away for my dietary needs/advice. At the hospital Effie and Sena took great care of me and Sheila was my dietitian at the hospital. It’s a great team that’s literally just a text away. I would recommend the company to anyone

I travelled from New Zealand to Istanbul for gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Necdet Derici and his team. The whole Novemed team was excellent, there was always a member of their staff with you, though all the tests(Thank you Clay) surgery and after(Thank you Sema, Sumeyra and Elif). Attending to any needs or questions I may have had. Which is very comforting when you came to a foreign country and cannot speak the language.

Hospital and Hotel facilities were excellent and clean, staff very friendly. Transport provided from airport to hotel and Hospital was all arranged for you and was very comfortable and clean.

Wouldn’t change a single thing. Highly recommend Novemed and their team. They will take care of you.

Experience at Novemed
The timeliness and courtesy of the staff and professionalism was good, but did not understand the food. More English speaking and empathetic nurses are required especially at night. Overall the experience is worth it. Pick up from the airport and back was on time. Cleanliness of the hospital was good.

From start to finish my experience with novemed has been amazing! I have nothing negative I could say about any of the service that was provided. Claire was so friendly and made me feel at ease as soon as I got there, i can only describe my time there as luxury.
My dietitian Sema has been amazing since returning home,answering any questions promptly and being so kind and helpful throughout. I just want to say a huge thank you to all involved.

Excellent looked after throughout experience. 1 year follow up post surgery. Lost 7 stone in 7 months have maintained loss since. Highly recommend this company.

I booked through Novemed as I had such a great experience with them in June 2022 when I had my gastric sleeve. This time I was returning for the tummy tuck and 360 liposuction which was under a surgeon who was recommended by Novemed (Dr Can Usulu).
The chief nurse Zeynep was absolutely WONDERFUL. She was always available for any questions to be asked no matter the time of day. She was able to answer my questions through her experience and if she didn't tknow the answers she would speak with the Dr.
Travelling
We were collected from SAW on Monday and taken directly to the hotel, all transfers too the hospital for pre operative checks and on surgery day were covered and travel back from the hospital to the hotel were covered also.
My experience with Novemed has been as fantastic as it was the first time round. They are a wonderful group of people who go above and beyond for you and they treat you like friends and care for you - which at times in the hospital this  doesn't exist.

Zeynep is a very knowledgeable person, and without her I do not think the experience would have been the same.  Taking her advise on the best things to do I.e lymphatic massages and the packages they offer (usually costed extra) were always optional and their was no pressure selling. Zeynep has a wonderful friendly nature and made a big impact on our second experience and for her we will be eternally grateful.

I am writing this review 6 weeks post op so I can share my whole opinion from lead up to being back on solid food.

When I first enquired I got an extremely swift reply and organised a phone call conversation when it was convenient for me. Which was amazing, after having all of my questions and queries answered I decided to give myself a few weeks extra to think about it which novamed was extremely accommodating with, they were checking on me rather than pestering me, I had also had consultations with other clinics in turkey but after I had said I was unsure the other clinics stopped messaging me which novamed did not.

Once I had paid my deposit novamed put all of the plans in place and once I had sent over my flight details I had confirmation of everything and my surgery date, during the time of waiting for surgery I did have second thoughts which my coordinator Jade was very kind and reassured me but also did tell me that if I really didn’t want to have it done that she supported me regardless which I thought was amazing.

Then was flight day, after getting out of the airport at the other end there was a lovely man who organised the taxi to the hotel, the transfer was clean and the driver had seen that we had been travelling for a long time so offered us water which was extremely kind. Once we got to the hotel there was a small issue that my companion was not on the booking but novemed sorted this very quickly and we were ready to prepare.

I flew into turkey on the Monday and my surgery was on the Wednesday so we had 2 nights at the hotel which had a sauna, swimming pool and lots of facilities which helped ease my nerves prior to the surgery.

On surgery day we were picked up very early in the morning and taken to the hospital which was called BHT clinic, it didn’t feel like a hospital which I was used to in the UK, it was marble, quiet and felt very professional, we were greeted at the door by our coordinator and she took us straight to be checked in at the hospital with their admin team, which was quick and efficient, then we went to see the dietician, who handled the money and took my height and weight as well as helping me go through the extensive consent forms as well as informing me of the procedure that would happen if anything didn’t go to plan which really eased my mind.

The pre op tests were very thorough, blood test, ECG, ultrasound, chest x-ray and finally the endoscopy which was done while I was sedated. After all of the tests I went up to the anaesthetists office and they gave me the final okay for surgery. All of these tests took less than an hour and I didn’t have to wait for anything. Once into my beautiful room, they came in and gave me my surgery clothes and inserted my cannula, I am terrified of needles but this nurse was amazing and had the cannula in in less than 10 seconds which was amazing.

Then I was taken down to surgery, in the lift I did get quite emotional as it was my first time ever going under anaesthesia but everyone was reassuring and trying to distract me and make me smile which I loved. Also my companion was allowed in the lift with me so I could be with my friend all the way up until I was in theatre which was amazing as they knew I was very nervous.

When I got into the theatre I was still upset and one of the lovely nurses was speaking to me very calmly and was reassuring me the whole time. Then I woke up 2 hours later and was in a little bit of pain which they did prepare me for and there was lots of nurses with me which really reassured me.

After completing the leak test and being given the all clear, my drains were taken out which was painless.

I was soon given the all clear to go back to the hotel to recover as the hospital could get quite noisy at night (which is understandable) and the dietician came in and gave me a full run down of my diet plan, goodie bag as well as giving me all of my travel documents and my medicines with my fit to fly letter.

Once I was home it was liquid diet for 2 weeks and every week I was sent a WhatsApp with different meal plans and advice from the surgeon and dietician which I was very impressed with. And they have continued to send me messages with meal ideas and how to hit all of my goals which I think is amazing.

All in all I cannot recommend them enough, from start to finish they have been angels and they are are so dedicated, from the receptionists to the nurses to the surgeon himself it has all been amazing and they are a credit to themselves!!!

Made the trip from the UK to Istanbul and upon arrival at the airport we had a transfer to the hotel arranged by Novemed. Hotel was very good and in a great area. Following morning taxi again picked me up and took me to the clinic
Upon arrival I was met by and English speaking representatives of Novemed who stayed with me till surgery
She accompanied me to all my tests and ensured I understood everything
Then surgery arrived. All went well and the care I was given I couldn’t fault
I had had no pain at all from start to finish
The room I was given at the clinic was private and like a 5 star hotel
Day 3 I was discharged and full instructions of what to do and not to do was given. I was also sent away with a food parcel to keep me going and all the drugs I needed. Then I was taken back to the hotel where I had a further 2 nights
Then on the 5th day was picked up and taken back to the airport
Once home Novamed kept in touch
Had weekly check in from them and weekly the diet plan was provided
I have contacted them a few times and they respond near on immediately
There are dieticians who are available near on 24/7 with any questions u may have
It really has been a great experience from start to finish

Excellent service from pre to the post operation. The journey continues even after post operation and Novmed has been consistent with their service. I would recommend them any day.

This by far has been the best clinic I’ve been .
Everything went smoothly with my 6 months gastric balloon , everyone there was nice and take care of me very well . The dietician was there and also explained to me everything clear and perfect . Also the hotel was perfect and the transfer was on time for each road I took . I highly recommend it because you will feel like at home .

My experience with Novamed was a 10 out of 10. From Start to End (although the Journey has not completely ended), the Team was amazing 👏

I travelled from Germany 🇩🇪 to Turkey to have the Gastric Sleeve surgery. Both my companion and I were in good hands. Airport pickup and Drop-off, all the Transfers from Hospital to Hotel, and Hotel to Hospital went well. Everything was well planned and I didn't have to worry about anything. Novamed's Team and Hospital's Team were simple wonderful, the Hospital room felt like a Hotel suite. Oliver, was my first contact person, Sena was my Translator, she is also a Dietician, Sena and Sumeyra are also the Dieticians monitoring and following up my progress. This team is simply wonderful. My Surgeon was Necdet Derici.
It was overall a great experience, and it's still ongoing because I was promised a one year follow-up or more. I am happy I choose Novamed, No disappointment, I highly recommend 👌

Booking through Novemed Bariatric Center started smoothly with their convenient use of WhatsApp messaging and phone calls, but things went downhill quickly after that. Upon arrival at Istanbul Airport, no one was there to meet us as promised. After finding Wi-Fi at a local shop, we managed to contact the booking team, who directed us to walk to the opposite end of the airport to meet our driver. This was incredibly difficult, as I weighed 25 stone and had mobility issues, and there was no help or wheelchair available.

After finally finding the taxi, we faced a chaotic three-hour wait actually to get going. The promised 'five-star luxury hotel' was far from it—at best, it was a two-star establishment. We had upgraded our room at an additional cost, but upon check-in, we found ourselves in the original room. When I returned to the lobby to sort this out, I was told there was no record of the upgrade, and I had to go through the team that organised it. After hours of frustration and having to pay again, I was finally shown to the room, which turned out to feel more like an old 90s motel than a luxury stay.

On the day of the surgery, I was driven to the hospital for a series of tests to confirm eligibility, which was alarming—especially after travelling all that way. Given that I have one kidney, it was touch and go for me, which added to the anxiety of an already stressful experience. After finally being cleared, I was taken to a sparse hospital room that had minimal amenities: a hard hospital bed, a tiny TV that I couldn't see well from the bed, and a small bathroom. The view from the window was of other hospital windows.

The surgery process itself was highly disorganised. I was taken to a prep room and put under local anaesthesia to perform more tests. After about an hour, I was told I could proceed with the surgery. The next 24 hours after surgery were sheer agony. The pain was unbearable, and when I requested painkillers, the staff realized they couldn’t give me what was on hand due to my 1 kidney condition. I was left in excruciating pain, and it felt as if I was left to manage alone.

On top of this, the hospital aftercare was shocking. Hardly any staff spoke English, which made it difficult to communicate basic needs. They were insistent on me doing certain breathing exercises and other tests, but they didn’t seem to understand my explanations about the intense pain I was in, and I felt pressured to comply just so they could check a box.

To make matters worse, the food provided was nearly inedible, and I could barely keep anything down. One disturbing detail was that the stomach they removed during surgery was placed next to my bed in a clear bag. I was told that some people had come back to the UK without realising they hadn’t had the surgery properly completed, so seeing my stomach in a bag was apparently meant to "prove" it was removed. It was unsettling and frankly unnecessary.

When I was finally discharged, the nightmare continued. I returned to the hotel only to find that my room had been given away, and I was placed in another room without explanation. To top it off, the staff demanded I leave a five-star review of the hotel. They stood over me in the lobby, opening the review page on their website and essentially forcing me to write a glowing review immediately after major surgery. By the end, I was so fed up I booked a private taxi to the airport just to leave as soon as possible.

Overall, my experience with Novemed was an absolute disaster. While the booking process was smooth, the service, care, and facilities fell far below expectations. The lack of proper communication, poor aftercare, and substandard accommodations turned what should have been a life-changing experience into a traumatising ordeal.

Aftercare Review:

I was extremely disappointed with the aftercare provided by the Novemed Bariatric team. I expected personalized support, but all I received was a WhatsApp message once a month that seemed completely impersonal. It was obvious these messages were just copied and pasted—there was no genuine thought or effort put into them.

The lack of engagement was incredibly frustrating, especially given how critical aftercare is post-surgery. There was no check-in on my progress, no tailored advice, and no encouragement. I felt like they were just ticking a box without any real interest in my recovery journey or my well-being.

For a program that promises comprehensive support, this fell way short. I would not recommend Novemed’s aftercare if you're looking for genuine, caring follow-up; they just don't seem to deliver on that front. If I’d known this beforehand, I would have chosen a different provider.

Date of surgery was 7/09/23 - wouldn’t let me put the correct date

I am extremely happy overall with my time and experience with Novemed. I thoroughly researched before i decided I was set on bariatric surgery. The communication groups with the co/ordinator who helped me with flight details to align with surgery dates, from dietician who also acted as a translator to surgeon who introduced himself before surgery and was in the room whilst I had gastroscopy and who visited twice a day after the surgery. All members of staff and team members I met along the way at different tests and procedures were polite and friendly.
There were language barriers but the translator was by my side by most of this. However through no fault of her own she wasn’t with me when they collected me for the gastroscopy and straight into theatre for surgery, I’m not sure I was aware she should have been until after and the nurses appeared friendly and I didn’t once feel anxious or scared.
I won’t lie - I was in a lot of pain post surgery and I did vomit up blood; my companion said that they mentioned this could happen and this was normal, but I can’t vouch for that as I was really out of it. They were really good with pain relief when I was in pain the first night, they came in and got me on my feet and encouraged me to get walking, I can’t remember how many times or for how long but it was the same evening after the surgery.
The room was lovely and clean had its own en suite bathroom with shower. Food was provided for both myself and my companion which was fine; there was local shops close by that my companion popped off to for her normal foods and drinks she prefers.
WiFi was intermittent so we couldn’t really contact anyone when this played up as we relied on the WhatsApp groups but as the dietician and other ladies came in frequently it was quickly resolved.
The only downside I would say was that I was not aware that I would have to pay for the protein supplements and vitamin/mineral tablets and due to not knowing this I had to pay on card which incurred a fee, had I have known these facts I would of brought the cash, just like cash was asked for for the operation cost.
I am 14 months post op now and 8 stone down. I am very happy with my weight loss and loving the new me, happy, healthier and more confident person. I do not want to lose any more weight as it would not look right plus I do not go by the BMI as I’d still need to lose 2 stone 😅
But thank you all at NOVEMED for giving me a lease of new life.

Life changing experience, everyone is absolutely so kind. There was a slight language barrier with the nurses overnight which was difficult at the time but nothing too bad. I would still highly recommend!

It was 10/10 right from the beginning of a message to a phone call. Information gave while on phone call to all research. Booking flights sending all information over and getting back to you straight away, even leading up too the day flighting out. The transfer to and from hotel to hospital were brilliant. Test in hospital and lead up to surgery informative on everything that was about to happen and the after care was excellent.

The care and help from start to finish was brilliant
The whole experience was amazing everything was so professional. Was above my expectations. The private transfer made it so much easier and not have to worry about anything while your there. The hardest part was after surgery with the language barrier between us and the nurses but managed to get through and all so lovely.
