GET H@RD ON FOR ONCUE
IF YOU DECIDE TO GO AHEAD AND WORK FOR ONCUE AFTER READING MY REVIEW, THEN YOU’LL HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELF
This is modern-day slavery; you are told you are self-employed and you can choose the hours to suit your day. This was my primary reason for going ahead with the application.
They promise £150 a day, which is a fantasy
After a week of training, mainly spewing out lies about the role and pay, at no point do they tell you you’ll be barely making minimum wage after all the costs.
After my training, I was given an auto VW Caddy which was just about roadworthy; my first full day was to be in Oxford.
Got up at 4 am and left the house at 5 am to be in Oxford for 6.30 first pick.
When I arrived, I received a call saying I was at the wrong location; this was purely down to the fact that, at no point during training do they invest any quality time in going through the app and how it is to be used.
After driving for 6.6 hours, I asked for a break. I was told I was on a contract job and I needed to work till I had finished all the jobs, and the last one was at 6 pm
I refused to drive and made it very clear I was tired and feeling sleepy, and if I was involved in an accident, I would hold them responsible; only then did they budge and give me a break.
That day I arrived back home at 21.30, I had been out since 5 am, and my pay was £126; you do not get paid for the 1.5 hours each way to and from the job location.
I was then for next 4 days given same location Oxford, which is 1.5 hours’ drive from my home.
I made it very clear that I needed to finish by 2 pm so I could go and do the school run.
On the phone, the control (ALL FAKE PEOPLE) would tell me I could finish at 2 pm, but then they’d say the same thing: you’re on a contract job; it needs to be finished.
I never asked to be on a contract job 1.5 hours from my home; I specifically asked to do local runs in the London area.
I sent an email, after I was advised to do so, so they could put me on the so-called London circuit, but never got a reply.
So after less than a week on the job, I handed back the ambulance. When I arrived to hand it back, one of the guys (Ryan) I had spoken to on the phone simply said Leave the key which I did, and left.
Had they had any good intention(s), I’m sure they would have made an effort to try and resolve my concerns.
Considering what you earn, it’s an absolute rip-off; I can and have made more by doing Just Eat and Uber in around my area of 5 miles and not having to go through all the rubbish that involved OnCue.
I am astonished how this company has not been investigated for the treatment of its staff and how it operates.
As I said, it's modern-day slave labour.
I spoke with several drivers, and they all had negative responses and were looking to hand back the ambulance.
In fact, in the training group I was in, a total of 8 of us half have left or have not bothered going ahead with it.
As for patients, they are left waiting hours for transport.
I am seeking legal advice to recoup the money I have lost due to the failure to disclose the true nature of the earnings, which is impossible to make even if you work 15 hours.
