People who need to go to the PDSA love their animals but may have fallen on hard times and on benefits or pensioners who receive tax credits and can not afford the prices at the vets . However the PDSA in Basildon is not taking on any more clients and feel the health of many pets will suffer. I tried to get a appointment for my little dog who appears to have a toothache who always went to PETS FOR VETS but their prices are way out of my price range and only seem interested in money and not so much the animals.

After taking my cat to a different emergency vet’s and they told me his problems were due to an infected cut on his paw, a week later I knew something wasn’t right and I rang pdsa as I have other pets registered here and they got him in straight away, soon as they saw him they agreed it wasn’t anything to do with a cut and his leg was either disclosed or broken so they admitted him that afternoon to do xray which showed his femur was totally broke and shattered so they kept him in to operate first thing in the morning. The care they gave nacho was fantastic and communication was brilliant they kept me upto date on how he was through the night and what they will do next and communication after his operation. I can’t thank them enough they were fantastic with him and they all gave him attention while he was there

My latest consultation with pdsa was extremely good. I was seen earlier than appointment time which helped with my anxiety, the vet I saw was lovely very professional and polite and took the time to properly examine my pet other than taking a few seconds which has happened before. The vet answered my questions and gave clear explanations and clear info on treatment plan. I received the blood test results on the day they told me to expect them amlnd they were really good at making a dental extraction appointment on a date that was suitable. Staff from reception to vet were really professional and approachable. Highly recommend BOW pdsa branch.

Everybody is there for one reason, and that's for the love of their pet. PDSA is a godsend for people struggling. At the end of the day our furbabies are family. We go to see a doctor when we're unwell. So ultimately, PDSA are our babies doctor who look after them extremely well. Thankyou!!

I am extremely grateful for the treatment my dog has received from PDSA in Oldbury. The staff there are very kind, understanding and supportive.
Thanks to PDSA, my dog is able to receive treatment for Cushing’s disease and arthritis at a much lower cost through their donation-based service. I am incredibly grateful for this support, as I simply cannot afford the cost of ongoing treatment at a private veterinary practice.
I would like to share my positive feedback and express my sincere thanks to everyone at PDSA Oldbury for the wonderful care, kindness and support they provide. Their work makes such a difference to people like me and allows us to give our pets the treatment they need.

I feel I need to speak openly about our experience with the out-of-hours emergency service at PDSA Gateshead following the heartbreaking loss of our beloved dog, Darcy.
Darcy was 12 years old and had become unwell, so we took her to PDSA for help. During the day, she was kept in while tests were carried out. At around 5pm, we received a call telling us that the tests they had done were okay and that they were carrying out further investigations to try to find out what was wrong. We trusted that Darcy was being cared for and hoped that we would soon have some answers.
Later that evening, we received a call from the out-of-hours service telling us that Darcy was deteriorating and that we needed to come in.
What happened when we arrived is something our family will never forget.
The vet who had called us was, in our experience, extremely cold and lacking in compassion. My husband and daughter were absolutely heartbroken. We were faced with losing a member of our family, and we were already devastated.
My husband was talking to Darcy and trying to comfort her. At that moment, the vet repeatedly told him that “she’s dying” and that “she can’t hear you.”
I cannot put into words how cruel and devastating those words felt to hear when my husband was simply trying to comfort his beloved dog in what were her final moments.
We understand that vets have to be honest. We understand that they have to tell owners when their pet is dying. We are not asking for false hope or for the truth to be hidden from us.
What we are asking for is compassion, empathy and basic human decency.
There is a way to tell a family that their beloved pet is dying without adding to their distress. There is a way to allow someone to talk to and comfort their animal without making them feel that they shouldn’t be doing so.
My daughter then spoke up. She was not abusive, aggressive or disrespectful. She simply said, in essence, “This is our family pet. We have had her for 12 years, and the things you are saying to us are shocking.”
At a time when our family was already dealing with the unbearable reality that we were losing Darcy, the vet then wanted to escort my daughter from the premises.
I find this absolutely shocking.
My daughter was grieving. She was standing there watching her family say goodbye to a dog they had loved for 12 years. She spoke up because she was hurt and distressed by the way we were being spoken to.
To then have her threatened with being escorted from the premises, instead of being shown compassion and understanding, made an already devastating situation even worse.
We were not causing trouble. We were a family grieving the loss of our beloved dog.
Darcy was not “just a dog”. She was a member of our family. She had shared 12 years of our lives, and losing her was one of the most painful experiences we have ever been through.
For a vet to speak to a grieving family in the way we experienced that night was, in our opinion, completely unacceptable.
I sincerely hope PDSA Gateshead management takes this review seriously and investigates exactly what happened, including the conduct and communication of the out-of-hours vet and the decision to threaten to remove my daughter from the premises while our family was saying goodbye to Darcy.
Families who are facing the loss of a much-loved animal should not have to feel intimidated, dismissed or treated as though they are causing a problem simply because they are grieving.
We trusted PDSA to care for Darcy and to support us when she was dying. While we appreciate the care she received from the staff who looked after her during the day, our experience with the out-of-hours service has left us deeply hurt and extremely disappointed.
No family should have to go through this when they are grieving the loss of a beloved member of their family.
There needs to be compassion when dealing with people who are losing their pets. There needs to be understanding when emotions are high. And there needs to be recognition that, to us, these animals are family.
Darcy deserved to be surrounded by love, and we deserved to be treated with compassion while saying goodbye to her.
Run free, our beautiful Darcy. ❤️🐾
You were so much more than a pet. You were our family, you were deeply loved, and you always will be.

PDSA HENDON ,
are absolutely fantastic and professional at what they do. They give the right amount of care and advice and guidance throughout your pets, illness.
I've taken my pet Roko there for 8 years now, and i'm very happy with every visit and the professional service they provide. He's had a couple of X RAY in this practice, and they understand his extremely stressed and anxiety levels are high, and they allow me to be there while they SEDATED him so he's not that stressed, feeling happier that I'm there in both ways of falling asleep and waking up I'm there.
I love this practice for this reason with the love and understanding they give it outstanding ❤️ 100%.

Nottingham branch is a one star! Saw them a stupid amount of times and they still failed to save my dogs life! Failed to do the correct tests that could have saved her life! They laughed at me as an owner telling me she was well when I knew she was not! She died 4yrs old!!! I will NEVER Forgive them!!!
ALWAYS respectful, caring, informative. Have always received prompt professional advice/care for my pet(s).
