Blijf hier weg. Na proton is mijn hele computer een puinhoop. Net nog een Word-document gemaakt in MS One Drive, maar zelfs dat is nu (sinds Proton) opeens onvindbaar. Ruim 2 uur werk voor niets. En ik blijk niet de enige. Kort gezegd zijn dit mijn ervaringen.

▪︎ wel 'instructies' in onbegrijpelijke taal
▪︎ geen instructies voor sluiting van het (gratis) account. Hun servers zullen daardoor uiteindelijk wel vollopen met spookaccounts

Mijn boosheid is na een korte nacht wel gezakt, maar het opnieuw inrichten van mijn cloudruimte gaat veel tijd vragen. Nu maar hopen dat er niet teveel verloren gaat...

Als ik 0 sterren zou kunnen geven, dan deed ik dat met liefde. Beloof me alsjeblieft om niet met Proton te beginnen; het 'bedrijf' lijkt handig gebruik te maken van de brede behoefte aan Europese alternatieven voor Amerikaanse techbedrijven.

Your going for the ride of your life if you want to terminate the service. I really don't know how Apple got involve but it did. I am been charged every month $5.99 and it wont stop even dough I cancelled the service because it was not working for me it crash to much sometimes I could not find the important emails. My bank did not accept the email.So I have been trying for the last 5 months to stop this problem and they will not stop charging. Apple saids they have no charges to show but yet it appears on my bank statement. As much as I try to take out the proton email from my contacts it will not go away. fishi

Absolutely unacceptable experience. Proton deleted my inactive email account, which was linked to my Binance account, and this put me at real risk of losing access to financial assets. What makes it worse is that after I explained the seriousness of the situation, Proton showed no meaningful willingness to help, restore the address, or offer any practical solution. Their policy may be written in the terms, but the real-world consequences can be severe. I would not trust Proton again with an email address connected to anything financially important.

I've had a proton account for quite some time, I started using it as a gmail alternative a few years ago. After a while, decided to sign up for a paid account for a bigger mailbox, more features, and VPN.
First of all, their VPN is hot garbage.
The mail app is...fine. It hasn't changed or improved in the years since I've first joined.

Previously, they notified before renewal dates so you had a chance to cancel, downgrade or upgrade. This year, nothing. I don't like this sort of sneaky business practice and had thought Proton were the antithesis of it. I canceled, emailed to complain and requested a refund. Then...No reply for several days. Finally some stock message and a request if I wanted to cancel and downgrade. Yes, I say. Silence again. No message or sign of movement at all. I conclude this is a waste of time, dispute the charge via PayPal, and chalk it up to poor service. But no, now they have locked even my free account access until I remove the chargeback.
Okay, I say, this is annoying but I will remove it. Then...guess what? Silence!

I'm not sure how such a poor product can also have such poor service and still somehow survive. They've been trying to push their god-awful related apps for the last year or so, probably not enough people are stupid enough to pay for them, so here we are.

Absolutely love it. Now it was time to get rid of gmail, so i chose Proton Mail. It works, is reliable and is not expensive. I will keep my subscription.

Stay away and save your money. I have paid until May 2027, Proton denied and have now closed my email storage. NEVER EVER PROTON AGAIN.

Nachdem Proton den "Service" (Email-Anbieter zu sein) für mich auf unnbestimmte Zeit aufgrund von unbstimmten "Auffälligkeiten" (ich hatte mich im entsprechenden Zeitraum bei einer einzelnen Verkaufsplattform angemeldet und hätte vermutlich eine Bestätigungmail erhalten, wenn Proton die nicht geblockt hätte) geperrt hat, meldete ich mich mittels Ticket um zu erfahren, was das Problem war. Antwort (vermutlich KI-generiert): Ich solle die TOS einhalten, um sowas zu vermeiden, und ihnen mehr Daten oder Geld schicken, um die Sperre wieder aufzuheben.
Ganz mein Humor.
PS.: Und nun hier auch eine automatisierte Antwort. Sehr nett. Aber inzwischen habe ich den Account bei Proton gelöscht. Ich hätte ohnehin nicht vorgehabt, online meine Tickets zu verbreiten. Nur so am Rande, ihr Datenschützer.

Protonmail is full of spooks to have a permanent access to account owners' mailboxes. I started to get the following error whenever I tried to sign off for over a month now and no one pays any attention:
"421 Misdirected Request - Request sent to a non-authoritative server."

!!! THIS IS A CRIMINAL ACT AND A CYBER CRIME !!!

Protonmail is supposed to be highly secure as it boasts about its cyber security and that is a big lie.

I would recommend it to NO ONE!

When I first found Proton, I thought they were making good products, but I had really negative experiences with the customer support. They are basically incompetent at helping with any request, so it's like they are doing nothing and not even worth asking for help because usually I have to wait 1+ day just to get an email that says, "We can't help." For the first look, Proton's services look promising, but if you investigate the market, you will find better alternatives for email, cloud drive, password manager, LLM chatbot, and VPN. The only reason you want to use Proton is if you want all your services together. Lately I feel Proton isn't here for our privacy; it's here for our money. They are making more and more (mostly not necessary products) just to make money and don't care about customers. It's just hard to say that they messed up all and don't care about customers' problems; they don't even try to help.

Great product when it works horrible customer service. Three outages in two weeks no access to email or storage or VPN and no explination. I had to search on reddit to find out what was happening with a service I paid for. I reached out to Proton to ask why no one felt the need to keep their customers informed and Elana N shared with me the exact reddit post response in email form. I asked why I had to reach out and Elana said she would be closing the conversation if I had not more questions. I then explained my question was why I'm paying for a product that doesn't work to a company that hopes I just won't notice to which Elana again said if there was nothing else she'd be closing the ticket so here I am. I moved to Proton to get away from google and so far I can say it is not google, as for if it is good at anything else it offers I would say no and that I hope Elana is an AI not a person because if she is then my god.

Servizio di mail ottimo, che rispetta la privacy e funziona molto bene.
Ha tante configurazioni che si possono fare ed è molto comoda e intuitiva.

Le service fonctionnait sans rien de particulier à signaler jusqu'à ce qu'un matin je découvre que le bouton d'envoi (pour envoyer un nouveau message aussi bien que pour répondre) avait disparu. J'ai fait un rapport à Proton, et quelques jours après reçu un message expliquant qu'ils étaient débordés et ne pouvaient prendre connaissance de tous les signalements. J'ai répondu à leur message (après avoir fouillé, j'avais fini par découvrir un raccourci clavier pour envoyer). Réponse lunaire de Proton: vider le cache, essayer avec un autre navigateur. J'ai joué le jeu, sans illusion. Mais une fois vidé le cache, reconnexion impossible (quel que soit le navigateur) car identifiants non reconnus. Même la phrase secrète de récupération de 12 mots n'est pas reconnue. Serait-ce un moyen de se débarrasser de ceux qui ne souscrivent pas un abonnement payant?

A Proton, après sa réponse à cet avis: non, je n'avais rien changé, et quant à mon ticket number, il faudrait pour vous le communiquer que j'accède à mes mails, ce qui n'est plus possible, comme je viens de l'expliquer. Une adresse pour vous communiquer identifiants et le reste?

Extremely disappointed with Proton Mail. I signed up for the Proton Unlimited paid plan directly from their website, but the service did not fit my needs as the student discount isn't applicable in India. Since I was well within their 30-day money-back guarantee window, I requested a cancellation and full refund.It has been days, and I am stuck in an endless loop of waiting 48+ hours for a single response. The only communication I get is automated emails or agents asking stalling questions instead of processing the downgrade.

I currently have two open tickets regarding this exact issue: Ticket #5163252 and my latest form submission Ticket #5175609.For a company that charges premium prices for privacy, their customer convenience and support speed are absolutely terrible.

Free services like Gmail are delivering instantly while a paid tier here leaves you stranded. Process my refund and downgrade immediately.

1 semaine d'attente et toujours aucune réponse à ma demande ... support et donc entreprise totalement inutile à mes besoin (cela prouve qu'il faut toujours tester la version gratuite avant) Ravi de ne pas avoir versé le moindre centime.

Unlimited plan claims to have Priority support. That is a lie. I have waited days on end for replies to basic support tickets.

Their calendar sucks. The VPN is slow. Multiple outages with little to no communication to users.

Use Tuta or Infomaniak instead. Paid plans are not worth the money with Proton.

I am very happy there is a good alternative to Gmail, but they have some points of improvement.
I have the problem that the size of my font often changes in an e-mail. This can lead to clear misunderstandings, as all of A SUDDEN THE FONT BECOMES BIGGER. I know it happends when I copy-paste things, but even though I try to undo the changing font-size (e.g. by erasing the font or pasting things with shift-contrl.-v) it keeps happening. In Gmail I never had this problem. Hopefully they can help me. (I already reported the bug, but haven't got a working response or fix yet)

I note your response today to the review I posted three days ago. I now have to waste further time publicly clarifying that you did not provide me with any ticket. What I received was a cursory, generic reply claiming a commitment to “joint working,” while simultaneously stating that you are “unable to check each older inquiry.” This contradiction is unacceptable, and your request that I “ask again” merely confirms that no meaningful review of my original issue has taken place.

My email account was deleted. All of my emails gone. No prior warning.

Absolutely unforgivable and the worst possible thing that could happen.

I will NEVER recommend Proton to anyone and will actively dissuade people from using the services.

Edit: What use is sending reminder emails *TO THE EMAIL ACCOUNT THAT IS NOT BEING SIGNED INTO*

Contacted their CEO, Mr. Andy Yen, and copied in customer service days ago. Nothing. I have another enquiry, but am wondering what is the point of contact if they can't be bothered to respond to the first email.
