Eine tolle Alternative zu Gmail, Apple Mail und anderen Anbietern.

Proton bietet mit seinen Produkten eine gute Rundumlösung zu Google an. Ich war vorher bei einem anderen privacy-freundlichen Anbieter, wollte aber eine geschmeidigere Lösung, die besser aufeinander abgestimmt ist. Proton hat mich seither nicht enttäuscht.

Mit dem Proton Unlimited Tarif hat man alle wesentlichen Produkte der Proton AG. Wenn man auch alle nutzt (z. B. Mail, Drive, Pass und VPN), ist es kostentechnisch direkt lukrativ, statt alles einzeln zu buchen oder verschiedene Anbieter zu nutzen.

Habe die bezahlte Vollversion um von MS und Google weg zu kommen. Im ersten Schritt habe ich MS OneDrive durch Proton Drive ersetzt. Natürlich muss man sich erst einmal etwas einarbeiten und ausprobieren. Letztlich hat die Installation auf den Endgeräten (Notebook, Laptop und Smartphone) sehr gut geklappt. Funktioniert seit zwei Wochen sehr gut und zur vollen Zufriedenheit. Im Moment experimentiere ich mit der Mail Funktion. Die ersten Tests machen mich auch glücklich. Als Privatnutzer der von MS365 und Google weg will bin ich sehr zufrieden.

Terrible user interface and I'm a software designer. I signed up with Protonmail in 2014 and found the UI acceptable and easy to follow. I liked how the buttons were labelled as text, so there was no mistaking them.

Progressively they've turned it into one of the worst UIs around. Take two simple examples :

I add a series of attachments to send with my e-mail and when I look closely, it has rearranged them in reverse of the order in which I've added them. I don't want this because I intend for the recipient to see the most relevant attachment first.

I then click the bin icon right next to the attachments, to delete the attachments and try again, but no, the bin attachment deleted my entire e-mail draft, even though it was adjacent to the files. I have to start again.

I add the attachments in reverse order, thinking I'm being smart and then send the e-mail. When I check it afterwards, I find that it actually sent them in the sequence I added them, but showed me a different sequence while composing the message. It turns out that it sorts the attachment file names alphanumerically, yet sends them chronologically. This is par for the course with Protonmail now — the UI is illogical and poorly planned. All the historic concepts and principles which we came to recognise with leading desktop-application-email programmes and found reasonable design choices — such as showing attachment files in the sequence in which they will be sent — are ignored with Proton.

The worst thing for me is the mistakes I make easily, because the buttons are just icons and not text. I don't want to waste my time hovering over every icon before clicking it. On top of this, support from Protonmail has often been a drain on my time — for small observances and bugs, support staff frequently disputed the bug and asked me to spend time creating videos of the problem. It is clear that many of the support staff have a very incomplete understanding of their own technology and can't even be bothered to verify the customer's simple example steps. Don’t waste your time with Protonmail, just use conventional e-mail applications and popular encryption standards and manage it yourself.

Absolutely useless. Do not use this scam.

Used it for several months until suddenly it randomly signed me out. Now my login isn't working and password reset simply DOES NOT WORK!!!!! Its 2026 and these chimps STILL haven't implemented a simple password reset protocol.

I get two options;
Enter your recovery phrase. What on earth is this? You never told me to set one up? What sort of weird company introduces something like this but doesn't let the user actually set their own phrase? Madness. I've had hundreds accounts with all sorts of websites and I've never once been asked to "enter a phrase" as a way to reset my password.

The second option is to enter my recovery email address. I only have one other email address so I entered that and it's not recognising it.

Absolutely useless, amateur operation. Why there is no phone verification nor any other way to recover a password, such as a simple 6 digit pin etc.

Do not trust this company. Absolutely useless.

Great products, with functionality and privacy. Minus one star due to the poor costumer service.

Paid long time account disabled for unstated reason. Very frustrating dealing with automatic responses to try to “reinstate”.

the email works great but the passwords don't save! I have them saved on a piece of paper with the exact password and it says I cant login.

Cant log in (username not exist) can,t create(username in use.
So losing all my mail.
Need to id every where to change my email.
Lost all my data.
So private you can,t even get to your own data.

Die App downloaden, kein Problem.
Sich dann aber anmelden ist eine negative Erfahrung.
Fast keine Wunschadresse mehr vorhanden. Dann etwas gefunden.
Aber dann kommt die Stelle die mich zum verzweifeln bringt.
Mailadresse oder Tel. Nummer angeben um bei Verlust des Z.B. Passwort, User, etc. Nicht ohne Zugang dazustehen, soll man eine Alternative eMail Adresse oder eine Handy Nummer angeben.
Aber das System sagt, keine Chance, Mail-Adresse funktioniert nicht, Handynummer funktioniert nicht.
Gut, überspringen... Aber ich erhalte kein Zugang, ich erhalte kein Code bzgl.Bestätigung, etc.
Wa bitte schön ist das? Und dann soll man auch noch zahlen.

Absolutely shocking service. It is supposed to be secure. I have had my account accessed, my password, recovery phrase and recovery email address CHANGED to an address is not mine, and all I ever receive back is one generic response after another advising me to take steps I CANNOT take and have email I need to access for a court case. Shocking. This has to be the least secure AND the least recoverable email address. It fails on BOTH counts

I moved to a paid "unlimited" account for greater security and as a paid user I am disappointed to date. I had issues with 2FA and when I reached out to a Customer representatives they take 2/3 days to respond. They suggested the synching of my computer/phone could be at fault (not that you can change the the clocks on them) as I was using the Proton authenticator app, yet the delay in changing time was 4 seconds between them. No solution offered. Using the Pass function on my computer asks me to re-set my preferred theme every morning I log in. You don't expect these issues when using a paid service. After taking 2/3 days to respond, they then send an automated message after 48hrs to see that they have answered your query! Really poor PR. No personal response and they chase you for a response after taking 2/3 days to respond. To cap it all, I received an email from Proton saying I could earn up to $1,000 by referring other users ($20 a referral). What an insult. Save the referral money and hire more computer engineers to resolve the glitches in your software! A good service will sell itself, you don't have to pay users for additional customers. Sort your issues out before I refer anyone.
To be balanced, the basic email service works well but you would expect all aspects of a service to work well for a paid service. #4328062

Pago 50€ l'anno e devo beccarmi un diamante per l'upgrade sulla dashboard ogni volta che apro l'app: un comportamento da app 'freemium' scadente, non da servizio professionale. La cosa più grave è la gestione delle mail criptate: le usate come spot pubblicitario obbligando i miei destinatari ad aprirle sul vostro sito. Questo mina la percezione di sicurezza e serve solo a portarvi traffico. Mi avvarrò del rimborso entro i 30 giorni: la privacy non si paga per poi essere usati come mezzo di marketing.
Dicono che non richiedono un account a chi riceve le mail con password, ma mettono in grande mostra inloro
loghi e ci sono "create a free account " ovunque, uno che paga non vuole essere sfruttato da Proton per farsi nuovi utenti, e rivelare il provider che un professionista usa , sono stati veloci a rispondere qui, ma al modulo e mail di rimborso ancora non rispondono, ho richiestk rimborso dopo 30 ore dal pagamento, aspetto 48 ore prima di iniziare a tutelarmi!
Aggiornamenti: hanno provveduto ad avviare la procedura di rimborso sul metodo di pagamento iniziale, ma comunque la perdita di tempo non verrà ricompensata !!

I’ve been using Proton Mail for about 8 years as a paying user, and I’m really very satisfied. The only issue is that after the latest Android update, it sometimes doesn’t send email notifications, but I’m sure they’ll fix it soon.

Good UI and nice features (newsletters, custom domains). Has always worked reliably.

I decided to try Proton bundle starting with paid Unlimited bundle plan. I have not yet tried the Drive, but I am in love with Proton Mail, Proton Pass and Proton Authenticator. After a few days I upgraded to Duo bundle to increase the storage and for extra email addresses, even though I am the only user. GUI and choice of themes is amazing. No steep learning curve. I got used to it so fast! I rarely leave reviews, only when I am indeed in love with the service or a product, and this is the case here. The only downside in Proton Mail I can think of is that you can only delete 1 email address per year. I created a couple that I decided I did not need and could not delete them, since I had deleted one prior to that. I know where this rule is coming from, but if Proton could identify that some specific email address was never used to send or receive email it should not be a subject to that rule. But it is not a deal breaker for me. Still love everything about Proton and super happy that I switched.

Habe sowohl den ProtonPass, als auch den VPN Dienst jeweils einzeln gekauft, da Features die ich brauchte nur darin enthalten waren.
Leider haben beide nicht funktioniert und das zurückerstatten war nur bei einem der beiden Dienste möglich. Das ist ziemlich enttäuschend. Dann gebt den Nutzern die Möglichkeit erst die Dienste z.B. 7 oder 3 Tage zu testen.
Der Support war trotzdem sehr freundlich, nur ist das leider nicht hilfreich.

För ett halvår sedan bestämde jag mig för att fokusera alla mina tjänster på europeiska leverantörer istället för amerikanska. Jag har därför flyttat allt från Apple och Microsoft till Proton. Jag har samtliga produkter och kör ett duo-abonnemang där man får 2tb utrymme på Proton Drive.

jag läste recensioner om att drive skulle vara olidligt långsamt och därför valde jag först att använda pCloud med deras europeiska servrar. Döm om min förvåning när jag sedan valde Proton och insåg att Proton drive var väldigt mycket snabbare än pCloud. Man kan ha synpunkter på att gränssnittet inte känns lika uppdaterat och polerat som många andra företag, men det känns alldeles utmärkt att ha allt krypterat och deras Authenticator-app är den bästa authenticator som jag har någonsin har testat.

Bin als bisheriger Nutzer von GMX noch nicht so lange bei Proton. Insgesamt macht es einen guten Eindruck. Was mir gefällt, ist der Zugang vom PC aus. Da braucht man keine vollkommen überflüssige Webseite, die mit Werbung und mehr vollgespickt ist, zu öffnen, sondern hat eine Ansicht, die einer Mail-Anwendung entspricht. Die kostenpflichtige Desktop App braucht man nicht, mir reicht es mit dem Browser.
Ein bisschen Kritik habe ich trotzdem: Migrieren per Easy Switch geht nicht richtig. Von insgesamt ca. 100 Mails bei GMX werden weniger als 10 Mails übertragen. Das hätte ich besser erwartet.
Ob sich, abgesehen von Easy Switch, mein positiver Eindruck langfristig bestätigen wird, kann ich nicht sagen. Für den Anfang ist aber alles in Ordnung und ich erwäge ernsthaft den Umzug von GMX zu Proton. Insgesamt drei Sterne aufgrund der aus meiner Sicht mangelnden Funktion von Easy Switch.
